I'm Colleen Thomas.

This is Daily Magic for Peace.

Create room for grief.

Welcome to the circle.

So today all you need is a bowl of water.

I welcome you here today.

I welcome you to take your seat in the circle and to take a breath.

We do two grounding exercises every time we get together.

The first one is to ground and calm the nervous system.

And the second one is to ground in some sort of energetic or spiritual way.

And today's first grounding will be something very simple called hand gazing.

So I invite you to look very gently at your hand or at any part of your body that's easy to look at if the hand is inconvenient.

Just gently,

Gently look and really notice.

Notice shadows,

Notice the color of your skin.

If you're wearing any jewelry,

Notice how it sits on your skin,

How it feels on your skin and maybe even on the muscles underneath your skin.

Notice how it feels to move your hand,

Maybe to bend your fingers.

Just sending love to this wonderful part of your body that's with you all the time.

And I invite you to take a breath.

And so for our spiritual grounding today,

I would love to connect with you at the level of the heart chakra.

So as always,

Notice what you're sitting,

Standing or lying on and find your grounding,

Grounding into the earth,

Grounding into this beautiful planet we walk on and we live on and we love on.

And find your way from that grounding cord,

Traveling effortlessly up your chakra system until you reach your heart.

Maybe place the hand on your heart if you'd like and just notice what is the energy like today in this moment in your heart space.

Just feel it,

See it,

Intuit into it,

Notice how it's moving.

And now that we're in this beautiful,

Rich heart space,

This tender heart space,

I'd like to invite you to just very gently grab your bowl of water or invoke the spirit of water and just begin to feel the quality of water,

How it moves and flows.

If you're holding a bowl of water,

You might experience touching it.

And take like a frozen moment in time,

Like everybody around you freezes and everything stops and you get to just explore this amazing thing that we take for granted every day,

This amazing element of water.

Feel it,

See it,

Smell it,

Taste it.

Let your body viscerally remember the last time you were inside water,

You were swimming in water or bathing in water.

Feel it holding you up,

Feel it caressing you and supporting you and cleansing you.

And this water that you're holding or that you're imagining,

This water that you're in connection with,

Let's ask it if it would be willing to hold some grief and see if it feels like it's giving you an affirmative answer.

And if it is,

Connect with your heart and notice is there any pain today?

Is there any grief?

Is there any personal grief?

Is there any collective grief?

Is there any global grief that you might be ready to release to this water?

And see if you can feel how your body and your heart might be responding to that idea.

And then just follow the flow,

Follow the impulse,

Whatever your heart needs in this moment,

We're creating room for all the feelings and the releasing.

And we're gonna take three breaths together to complete this releasing process.

So breathing with me if you'd like to and offering our deepest,

Deepest thanks to this water for accepting our grief,

For holding our grief.

And if you are holding actual water,

This might be something that when you have a chance,

You might want to pour out with a prayer.

And if you're by a body of water,

Just in general,

Just giving great gratitude and thanks to water.

We're going to begin to transition out of our time today.

Let's take one more breath together.

May we all have places to release our grief in healthy and safe ways.

May it be so.

Thank you so much for being with us today.

Your presence,

Your energy and your heart make all the difference in healing our world.

Remember to breathe today,

Breathe and expand.

And I hope you join us again next time.
