Welcome to this snow meditation.
Regardless of how you feel about the snow,
This meditation can be beneficial for you.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable seat,
Adjusting your body to find ease and comfort.
And let's take three deep breaths in through the nose,
Exhale gently out the mouth.
Inhale again,
Lengthening the spine,
Lifting the crown to the ceiling.
Exhale,
Soften the shoulders down the back,
Release the belly.
One more deep inhale through the nose,
Filling the lungs completely.
Exhale out the mouth,
Emptying completely.
Good.
Now I want you to think about the snow.
Think about how cold the snow is.
Think about how wet the snow is.
Think about how you have to go shovel it off your sidewalk.
Think about how long it will take you to get you or your kids dressed in all the layers that you need to go out in the snow.
Think about scraping the snow and maybe ice off your windshield of your car.
Think about how long it's going to take for the snow to melt.
Now,
Bring your awareness to your body.
What sensations do you feel in your body?
Where do you feel these sensations?
How does thinking about the negative aspects of snow make you feel?
Let's take three more deep breaths.
Inhaling completely,
Filling the lungs.
Exhale and soften,
Emptying the lungs.
Inhale,
Filling the chest and belly,
Rise.
Exhale,
Filling the chest and belly,
Soften.
One more deep,
Complete inhale,
Filling the lungs.
Exhale,
Emptying the lungs completely.
Now bring to mind the white,
Fluffy snow outside your window.
Think about sitting by the fireplace or sitting in your favorite chair while covered in a warm blanket,
Watching the snow gently fall.
Bring up a favorite memory from your childhood about playing in the snow,
Maybe making snowballs or snowman,
Maybe laughing while you lay in the snow,
Moving your arms and legs to make a snow angel.
Maybe you loved to go sledding down a nearby hill.
Think about drinking hot cocoa or taking a warm bath after coming in from playing in the snow.
Maybe you still like to go skiing or snowboarding.
If you can't think of anything else positive about the snow,
Think about how happy you will feel when the snow begins to melt and spring is on its way.
Bring your awareness back to your body.
What sensations do you feel in your body?
Where do you feel them in your body?
Accepting the fact that there is snow doesn't mean you have to like the snow.
You just accept that there is snow.
You allow what is to just be.
How does your body respond to that?
The thing is,
Snow can represent anything in our lives that we are resisting.
It can be anything that we have no control over,
Isn't necessarily harmful,
And we can't change.
Whether or not we expend energy fighting against it is within our control.
We can choose to see the good,
Even if it's small,
And let the rest go,
Because there's nothing we can do about it anyway.
Bring your awareness back to your breath.
This,
This breath is always within your control.
Trust your breath.
Trust your body.
Trust yourself.
You've got this.
Have a lovely day.
