Welcome,
Dear one,
To the podcast series Seekless.
Today we will learn to seek less emotional comfort from the external world and dive deep into our own nourishing waters,
Restoring and honoring the ability we all have to tend to our deepest needs.
Dear soul,
Choose nourishment.
Choose not skin's balm,
But soul's solace in everything you do.
For to soothe yourself on the surface does your depths no justice.
Choose to live in reverence for what no comfort can ever satisfy,
And your earnest heart will guide you towards fundamental wellness.
Choose nourishment for nourishment burns from the heart while comfort cowers behind habit,
Below the line of consciousness,
Demanding quick fixes,
Conditionals and short terms,
So as to create treason between mind,
Body and heart.
But there cannot be disloyalty when there is nourishment,
Because nourishment is devotion.
A devotion to being guided by the depths of your being towards the light of your heart.
Devotion to doing what your body pleads of you.
Devotion to turning in,
Quietly listening and making sacred the needs of spirit.
I know there are times when it feels like life abandons all sense of ease,
Like it has deserted you,
Leaving you to only endure,
And comfort is always there.
It is dependable and provides satisfaction for a while.
But when you choose comfort,
You choose to patch a few cracks on the facade rather than restore anything of real value.
Nourishment is not easy,
I know.
It takes courage.
Because sometimes what you need is to bear your bones upon an open fire,
To let that part of you,
Which has for too long been comforted,
Ignite and enliven.
Sometimes curtailed words need to be replaced by cutting tongue.
Sometimes what has been welcomed in needs detaching out.
And sometimes the appeasing and the social need solitude and silence,
So that they may hear their own heart call again.
Only you know what is and what is not nourishment.
Nourishment is not for the strong-minded but for the tender-hearted,
Because what causes deep,
Peaty growth comes with a sense of pain.
It comes with a shedding and a reshaping.
To truly be nourished,
We must cut away all that no longer provides growth.
And know this,
That in the act of self-nourishment,
No pain is ever wasted.
To care for yourself authentically,
Dear soul,
Consider yourself the humble plant,
Locked away behind closet door.
No consoling lullaby,
No sincere promise,
No comforting words will ever cause growth.
Nourishment means opening the door and placing yourself in sunlight,
Giving yourself space and time to breathe,
Feeding yourself a little water and then of course a soothing melody can make all the difference but it is that choice,
To do what makes you grow,
That makes nourishment so life-giving.
Choose nourishment.
Only you know what that requires,
Because although many people,
Things,
Substances can provide comfort from the surface,
No one else can give you what only you know is soul replenishment.
What is nourished is slow,
Is quiet,
Is creative,
Is invested,
Is unaffected by time,
Is inward,
Is uncomfortable,
Is expansive,
Is scary,
Is wholesome,
Is incremental and is heart-centred.
When you keep turning inward to face the truth of your needs,
You provide yourself rejuvenating foods,
Thoughts,
Experiences and actions.
That allows you to become the embodiment of alignment.
You line up your mind,
Body and spirit to form an Orion's Belt,
The directional constellation that points down to Earth's most sacred grounds.
Let us sit together now and touch upon the quiet inner voice that guides us towards the direction of self-nourishment.
Close your eyes.
Allow yourself to be still.
It requires no force or demand from the body,
Simply requires that you allow your natural state to rise from within,
Softly,
Slowly and in its own time.
Live in your body first,
Then into the breath and then into the heart.
The mind is just there,
Doing what it does.
No need to force it away.
Let's sink deeper into who you already are,
Below the condensation of thought,
Using your breath to deepen awareness.
You are here to remember yourself,
To experience the truth of who you are.
All else is relative and variable,
But here and now,
You are the ever-present awareness of your life.
You become the state by first becoming aware of what you are not,
The perishable,
The pain,
The past.
Simply lean back into what you are,
The awareness,
The eternal,
The only dependable element in your universe,
The I Am.
Come now to the following questions and feel the answers within your body.
Try not to think for the answers,
But let them come to you with a sense of ease,
Lightness,
And knowingness.
If the answers don't come,
Just relax,
They will,
Perhaps later,
Perhaps in a dream,
Through the subconscious they will come to you.
What does it feel like to be deeply nourished?
Feel it in your body now.
What part of my body does nourishment reach?
You may wish to lightly touch these points now.
Do I provide myself with as much nourishment as I can?
What stops me from deeply nourishing myself?
Do I have the power to change this?
What form of nourishment do I need more than anything right now?
What is the unwholesome comfort I turn to most?
What part of my body does it satisfy?
You may wish to lightly touch this area.
Tell your body now in any way you can the following message.
Dear body,
You and I share this life experience together.
The only time you've ever given up on me is when I have given up on you,
And from now on I want us to be friends.
I want us to mend,
To heal,
To express and to love together.
I cannot do this fully without you.
I choose to care for your deepest waters and in return you will provide me with a bridge built from sacred heart to which I may cross over to myself once again.
And one day,
When the great night falls upon us both,
We shall look back in reverence to the life we created together,
Knowing that we carried each other as well as we could,
But with as much nourishment as we could provide each other.
Our eventual separation will only honor the heart that united us.
In love for our lives we may nourish ourselves into alignment again.
Take a few deep breaths.
Breathe down into your bones,
Into your being.
Allow yourself to rest with what you have unearthed today.
Walk your body back into consciousness through the breath.
And when you are ready,
You may open your eyes.
Did you notice how many places nourishment touched compared to comfort?
Was there a difference to you?
To learn how to nourish yourself is to first know that you are already accomplished in the art of self-nourishment.
It's heart's most sacred obligation.
You have the power and the ability to give yourself what you truly need in every given moment when you choose to create the bridge between you and your body through love.
It is habit and mind that obstruct and obscure,
Because habit seeks validation for the sake of its name and the mind seeks affirmation for the sake of its righteousness.
But in every given moment we have the choice to live deeper within ourselves.
It takes but a moment of awareness of what comforts are too fleeting,
And of leaning back and inquiring as to whether this act,
This person,
This food,
This train of thought,
This emotion is contributing toward connection and growth.
To choose nourishment over comfort is to choose salted ocean over filtered water.
It allows you to return to your natural state of devotional healing.
Thank you for being a part of this courageous journey back to yourself and may we lighten,
Enlighten and inspire each other along the way.
