I am Sequoia of Sequoia Yoga and welcome to your Relax Your Shoulders meditation.

During my time as a mind-body therapist,

My mentor was watching as I worked on a student on a table and the advice that she gave me during that time was to relax my shoulders.

It's when she said that that I realized that my shoulders were up by my ears and it made everything that I was doing so much more difficult.

But when I pressed my shoulders down and back and I started to do some movements with my student on the table,

Everything came to me with so much more ease.

So I would like to give you a reminder to relax your shoulders and we're going to sit,

We're going to breathe with our relaxed shoulders,

We're going to synthesize with our mind and body what working with relaxed shoulders feels like.

So go ahead and peel your shoulders away from your ears,

Take a deep breath in and exhale.

Feel a weight coming off of your shoulders.

Inhale,

Exhale.

The tension just rolls away.

Inhale and exhale.

Create some space between your collarbones,

That's an added bonus.

Inhale and exhale.

Draw your shoulder blades closer into your body,

Relaxing the muscles on your back.

Inhale,

Exhale.

So every time you're busy at work or doing a project around the house,

Just take a moment of mindfulness and see where your shoulders are sitting and if they're up and tense,

Go ahead and peel them back,

Draw them away from your ears.

Relax them.

Take three deep breaths.

Take three deep breaths.

Reposition yourself and experience ease.
