It can be difficult, when we are struggling with an illness or physical condition, to hold ourselves with love and compassion, and to feed ourselves powerful, caring words. Practices like this can help. This recording consists of 11 minutes of empowering phrases, spoken in a soothing manner, one after another, with time for a breath in between. Each time you listen, just take what you need and let the rest go. Some phrases may resonate as important for you. Others you can let pass on by. If you'd like, you can mentally repeat the phrases after I speak them. Or, just relax and let the words wash over you. I hope you will use this practice to inspire you to come up with your own phrases targeted for your specific situation. There is no music. Just occasional birdsong in the background. (While this recording may be helpful to anyone, I originally wrote the phrases as support for women with body aceptance issues, and invisible illnesses, so some language reflects that.)

This is Sarah Johnson.

I invite you to sit or lie down so you can relax your body and take in these words.

Each time you listen,

Allow in whatever phrases feel the most powerful,

Inhaling,

And useful for you,

And just let the others go.

So you can begin with a few deep breaths,

Allowing yourself to be supported.

And here we go.

I am beautiful and whole.

I am brave.

I honor myself for the difficult process I have been going through.

I am learning to relax.

I have been going through so much,

But it is safe to relax.

Relaxing my body and mind helps me heal.

I trust my body to heal.

I trust my intuition to know what is right for me.

My body is wise.

My body knows how to heal.

I love my body.

My body is worthy of love.

I view my struggles and the struggles of others with compassion.

My story matters.

I am always learning new ways to take good care of myself.

I am open to people who can assist my deepest healing.

I trust my deep knowing about what I need.

I honor my body's need to rest.

Even though some doubt my story,

That is about them,

Not me.

Even though I may have felt alone or powerless at times,

I am persevering.

It is okay to grieve my losses.

I am human and I feel all of my human emotions.

I am more than any illness I may have.

Some people don't get what I'm going through,

But that does not mean my experience is invalid.

I seek practices that support my physical,

Emotional,

Mental and spiritual well-being.

I notice my thoughts and feelings as they come and go.

I get the support I need for my mental health.

I am a work in progress.

My difficulties may feel unbearable at times,

But I know I am more than my difficulties.

My challenges may feel unique,

But I know all human beings have struggles.

I am not alone.

I am making new connections.

I am growing and learning.

I am deepening my connection to myself.

I forgive myself for decisions I regret.

I hold myself tenderly as I would hold a vulnerable child.

I practice empowering self-talk.

I am lovable and worthy.

I release ideas of being perfect.

I am learning to be kind to myself.

I can cultivate practices that support well-being.

Things of frustration will come and go,

And I know this is normal and human.

I notice each breath inhaling peace and exhaling what does not serve me.

I see any illness or condition I may have as an opportunity to release old patterns that are not helpful.

I am patient with my body as I release obstacles to healing.

I surround myself with healing and tension.

I send love,

Kindness and care to all parts of my body with no exclusions.

I am healing.

I am worthy.

I am lovable.

I am beautiful just the way I am.

I visualize all the systems of my body working in harmony.

I am soaking in all the goodness life offers.

I notice and savor beauty.

I am nourishing myself on all levels.

I am surrounded and filled with lovely healing light.

And just take a few more moments to soak in a bit of relaxation,

Self-care.

And then when you're ready,

You can move on to your next activity.

I found I was able to listen to your words as ‘phrases’ and not feel triggered by past toxic positivity I experienced from self help gurus. ‘Phrases’ is a better choice of word than the other starting with an ‘A’ , which is usually not reflective of individual needs but which serves only the ego of a self help guru. The ‘phrases’ used here came across as embracing the individualality of all women. Thankyou Sarah. 🙏🏼🌿🌺🌿🙏🏼

So beautifully paced. And so affirming. I love how I’ll be able to hear new things each time I listen depending on what I need.

As announced, a fairly comprehensive collection of healing and empowering affirmations. Gentle, caring voice. A bit of background noise but after all that's life! Thank you!
