I invite you to find a comfortable position,
One which allows your body to fully relax and let go.
Allow your shoulders to drop and melt.
Allow your breathing to become fluid and easy.
Finding yourself that meditation isn't about trying to create a particular state,
But a relaxing,
A letting go,
A remembering of the peace that is already here.
Allow awareness to reveal to you now your natural,
Uncontrived state.
Allow yourself to fall into this peace which surpasses all understanding.
I invite you now to imagine your inner child in your mind's eye.
See them off in the distance,
Coming closer to you.
What do they look like?
How old are they?
What are they wearing?
We will now ask them some questions and listen carefully for their answers.
How do they feel about themselves?
How do they feel about their parents or caregivers?
How do they feel about their friends?
How do they feel about life?
How do they feel about the future?
How do they feel about the past?
Do they have any messages for you about any current issues in your life?
And now let's see how we can best support them.
Dear Inner Child,
What do you need from me to help you feel happy and whole?
We can be the loving,
Wise and compassionate parent that every child deserves.
I invite you to tell your inner child that you love them and notice how they respond now.
You can also tell them that you're sorry for any accumulated pain they may have experienced and notice again how they respond.
We can choose now how we would like to express our loving care to our inner child.
Check in and see what kind of touch they need most from you now.
They may wish to sit on your lap,
Be held,
Hold your hand,
Receive a hug,
Rest on your chest or have their hair stroked.
I invite you to physically comfort your inner child now in any way that feels right for you and notice how they respond.
And in closing,
I invite you to let your inner child know that you'll be back to visit with them again soon and notice how they respond to this commitment.
Thank your inner child for meeting with you today.
May you be well.
May you be at peace.
Namaste.
