Hello,
My name is Sean Fargo.
I'll be guiding you through a simple exercise on increasing optimism.
So we'll involve two components.
One is envisioning your future in the best possible light.
And the other is to view yourself as having some control in achieving this positive outcome.
So let's practice increasing optimism by finding a posture that feels relaxed and alert.
It can be standing,
Sitting,
Or lying down,
Relaxing and releasing any tension from your body and your head,
And gently closing your eyes and taking a deep breath with your belly.
And now I invite you to envision yourself at the end of the calendar year,
Having successfully improved your physical health,
Maintaining a healthy diet,
Feeling vigor and strength,
Envisioning yourself feeling healthy at the end of the year,
Because you've taken the steps to be healthy on a consistent basis.
And now in vivid detail,
Envision yourself feeling happier by the end of the year,
Knowing that you've done your best to forgive others,
To be optimistic,
And to stay true to yourself.
And in vivid detail,
Envision yourself feeling more love with your family,
Knowing that you've unconditionally loved your family throughout the course of the year.
And now see yourself having accomplished your major career goals for the year,
And envision yourself feeling more confident at the end of the year,
That things worked out as best as they could,
Given your hard work,
A little bit of luck,
And the support of others.
Beautiful.
Beautiful.
Now see if you can choose just one thing about tomorrow that you're looking forward to,
One thing about tomorrow that you could look forward to if you really wanted to,
And what you can do to make that happen.
Allowing yourself to experience everything pleasurable about it.
What can you do to ensure that that experience is worth it,
That you're able to do it?
Beautiful.
Now take a deep breath,
Wiggle your fingers or toes,
And slowly open your eyes whenever you're ready.
I hope that this optimism exercise has been useful for you.
May your year ahead be bright and filled with happiness.
