Welcome to Letting Go and Opening Up to Our Creativity Part 1.
This is a mindful writing,
Meditation,
And exercise.
You can look for Part 2 in my profile.
Let's practice letting go of what no longer nourishes us so that we can open up our creativity to that which wants to be expressed through us.
Find yourself a place where you can both sit and write.
If possible,
You'll be writing with pen and paper.
At the end of the meditation,
I will give you a writing prompt and you will free write,
Meaning you will keep your hand moving across the page without stopping or editing until I tell you to stop.
Let's begin.
Find yourself a comfortable seated position.
Close your eyes or gaze downward,
Whichever is more comfortable for you.
Place your feet flat on the ground,
Your hands palms up on your thighs.
Sway on your sit bones until you find a comfortable resting place.
Stretch your spine upward.
Bring your shoulders up to your ears,
Up and back and down.
Relax your jaw and your face and come into the present moment.
Come to the breath.
The first step in letting go is recognizing what we've been holding on to.
Bring your attention to your body.
Where are you holding on to tension?
Is it your forehead?
Your jaw?
Your shoulders?
Your calves?
Notice what you're holding on to.
Acknowledge it,
Breathe into it and let it go.
Come back to your breath.
Just breathe in and breathe out.
As you breathe out,
Just let it go.
Notice your thoughts as they arise.
These two can be things that we're holding on to that are blocking our creativity.
Just notice your thoughts as they arise and let them go.
Again,
The first step is noticing.
Being aware of what you're thinking and letting go of what doesn't serve you.
Thought patterns or thought loops can become habits,
Things that are whirling around in our minds without us recognizing them anymore.
Does that change and dictate the way we act?
The way we create?
The way we don't create?
Are there things we believe that we haven't questioned in a long time?
What would happen if we didn't believe them anymore?
If we noticed and acknowledged what wasn't true and let that go.
Without recognizing what we hold in our bodies,
What we hold in our minds,
We can block our creativity.
We can fail to see new ways of solving problems,
New ways of creating art.
Come back to the breath.
Bring your attention to the body again.
Are you holding tension?
Is it someplace new?
The same place?
Again,
Just breathe into it and let it go.
You can open your eyes,
Gather your pen and paper and write about what you can let go of,
What thought patterns,
Habits,
Beliefs,
Relationships,
Worn out goals.
What can you let go of?
Keep writing until you hear the chime.
I'll keep track of the time.
What can you let go of?
Keep writing until you hear the chime.
I'll keep track of the time.
