Transforming your relationship to fear.
Welcome to this healing journey where we will explore and transform your relationship with fear.
To begin just settle into a comfortable position,
Close your eyes and take a few long,
Slow,
Deep breaths.
Allow yourself to fully arrive in this moment.
Breathe deeply through your nose and exhale with a sigh out your mouth.
Let go of any tension in your body.
Let racing thoughts melt away.
Fear can be a very overwhelming emotion,
But it's important to remember that fear is a natural part of being human.
Fear is an emotion designed to protect us,
To keep us safe,
But not all fear is created equal.
There's a distinction between fear that arises from a real immediate danger,
Like the kind of fear that would surge through your body if you were being chased by a bear.
And then there's the fear that comes from learned beliefs,
Conditioning and experiences from the past.
This latter kind of fear is the fear we often feel in our daily lives.
It's not a fear about survival.
It's the fear of not being enough,
The fear of rejection,
The fear of failure,
The fear of not fitting in.
These fears are not about your physical safety.
They're about your emotional safety.
They stem from deep rooted beliefs that you've absorbed from your parents,
Your culture,
Your education,
From your whole life experience.
So let us begin by acknowledging the role that fear has played in your life so far.
Think of a recent moment when you felt fear.
Perhaps it was fear of making a mistake,
A fear of the future,
A fear of being vulnerable.
Bring one recent moment to your mind now and just notice where you feel that fear in your body.
Don't get stuck in the mind.
Try not to get lost in the thoughts you associate with that fear.
Stay with the feeling in your body.
Is it in your chest,
Your stomach,
Your throat?
Simply notice without any judgment,
Without trying to change it.
And now just breathe deeply.
Wherever this fear lives in your body,
I want you to breathe deeply from there.
Imagine that you're holding space for this fear.
You're creating a safe container for it,
Allowing it to be present without needing to push it away or hide from it.
I know this may be new to you.
Just have the willingness to try.
Put all of your focus and attention on feeling the fear in your body and let it be there.
And know that it's okay and perfectly normal to feel this way.
Fear is just energy,
And like all energy,
It can be transformed.
So let's transform your fear right now.
Instead of seeing this fear as something that stops you,
Imagine that it's a companion on your journey,
A companion that you can carry with you,
But it doesn't have any control over your actions or decisions.
So wherever in your body you experience that fear,
I'd like you to use your imagination and scoop that fear out of you with your hands.
Just imagine you can magically scoop out that feeling from your body and hold that fear in your hand.
And now I'd like you to simply place that fear into your pocket.
And know that you can continue to move forward even with that fear in your pocket.
By doing this simple practice,
You're acknowledging fear's presence,
But you're also showing that fear that you are in charge.
You can keep walking forward even if the fear comes to.
Even if you feel that fear deeply,
You can still take the steps that will lead you to the life you truly desire.
Fear doesn't have to be the wall that stops you.
It's no longer something that holds you back,
But instead it becomes a signal that you are stepping out of your comfort zone into growth.
Take a moment now to affirm this new relationship with fear by silently repeating to yourself the following.
I acknowledge my fear,
But it does not control me.
I hold space for my fear and I move forward anyway.
Fear is not my enemy,
It is my teacher.
I am strong and capable of feeling fear and pursuing my dreams.
And just breathe deeply and visualize a future moment where you feel fear arise.
Perhaps as you take a new step or start a new job,
Make a bold decision or embark on a new path.
See yourself in that moment feeling the fear in your body,
Acknowledging it and then calmly placing it in your pocket.
Ready to move forward despite the fear.
Feel the strength and courage that comes from this new relationship with fear.
And know that this courage is always within you.
Ready to be accessed whenever you need it.
Now slowly bring your awareness back to the present moment,
Bringing with you this new perspective of fear.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Carry this new perspective with you as you go through your day.
Knowing that fear no longer has to be something that stops you.
It's simply a part of your journey.
A part you can acknowledge,
Accept and move forward with.
You are powerful.
You are brave.
And you are capable of transforming your relationship with fear.
Remember fear is not the end.
It's just the beginning of a new chapter of growth,
Courage and becoming the greatest version of yourself that you have ever known.
