Welcome to a mindful moment.
This is Sarah Fletcher from Quiet Mind Meditation.
In our busy lives we often don't take the time to reflect on all the wonder and magic happening around us.
Or allow ourselves to experience that deep sense of gratitude for all the positive experiences and events that life gifts us.
Expressing gratitude has been shown to not only promote a positive mood,
Hope and resilience,
But also increase our awareness of happiness in life.
So finding a comfortable and relaxed position in a chair or on the floor.
Checking that your back is relatively straight but soft.
Placing your hands in a position that feel comfortable and supported.
Allow your shoulders to relax.
You may close your eyes or soften your gaze in front of you.
Invite a sense of calm and ease into your body.
And let's start by drawing our awareness to our breath.
A conscious awareness of the fact that you're breathing in this moment.
There's a light of simply having this breath this moment.
And so almost immediately we can share a sense of deep gratitude for our breath,
Which is life.
And for this moment gratitude,
Like the breath,
Connects us with this sacred moment.
And so as we rest with the breath,
Feeling the inhalation,
This life breath,
And the exhalation,
This sense of letting go.
Noticing where you feel the breath most deeply in this moment,
You might silently offer gratitude for this breath.
Forever flowing into the body and then back into the universe.
Giving life and nourishment.
Grateful for this breath.
Perhaps you notice already after just a few moments with your eyes closed and your attention turned inward.
How you feel a little bit more at ease,
A little bit more present.
Aware of your body relaxing in the chair.
The weight of your hands in your lap.
The connection of your feet with the earth below you.
You might silently offer gratitude in this moment for your body.
Being able to move,
To touch and to feel.
To swim and to dance.
For the many journeys and physical requests that our body has supported us with.
Grateful for this body in this moment.
Bringing a sense of awareness to your eyes,
Resting behind heavy eyelids.
Protecting the eyes.
You might silently offer gratitude in this moment for your vision.
The gift of sight.
The ability to see colour,
Loved ones,
Sunsets and sunrises.
Grateful for the sense of sight.
Taking your awareness to your ears.
Opening your ears to the sounds around you in this moment.
A reminder that we might silently offer gratitude in this moment for your sense of hearing.
For the music,
The laughter,
The tears and the silence.
Grateful for the sense of hearing.
Inviting your awareness to your mouth,
Your jaw,
Your lips and your throat.
Making sure you're not clenching your jaw.
Noticing how the tongue rests so easily and comfortably in your mouth.
You might silently offer gratitude for all the many flavours and conversations that you've had in your life.
The fresh sweetness of summer fruit,
The richness of dark chocolate,
The spoken word,
The kiss,
The songs.
Breathing in fresh life giving energy,
Prana,
Chi.
Breathing out with a sense of deep peace and gratitude.
May I be happy and at ease.
May I be free from stress and worry.
May I be peaceful.
Taking a few deeper inhalations as we finish our exercise.
Gently bringing awareness to the outside of your body and your place in the room.
Bringing some movement to fingers and toes.
Taking time to return to your day.
And being grateful for this moment.
Thank you.
