
Releasing And Honoring Trapped Emotions
This gentle and loving, guided meditation allows us to find the emotions that have been trapped within us. Through breathing and visualization, we are able to honor what we are feeling. In doing so, we can allow the trapped emotions to be set free, where we can learn from them and listen to what these emotions are trying to tell us.
Transcript
Welcome and thank you for joining me for today's journey into our minds,
Our hearts,
And our souls.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath in and hold.
Now release.
Let's do that one more time.
Take a deep breath in,
Hold and release.
As you continue your breathing,
With each new breath that comes in,
Imagine that you are breathing the warmest,
Most beautiful light.
This light is full of understanding and compassion and love.
This light is so warm and it helps cleanse you of the darkness within you,
Of the bitterness,
Of the contempt and the pain,
Or whatever emotion you are holding onto that's been lingering within you for so long.
Breathe in this warm light and imagine it flowing and circulating through every cell in your body,
Through every muscle,
Every tendon,
Every bone,
Every organ.
This light is cleansing,
Washing through you.
It's loving and it's so gentle.
As you continue to breathe out,
Imagine that this darkness,
This pain,
These feelings that you have been holding onto,
Imagine that they are being gathered up by this warm light and wrapped with love.
And as you breathe out with each breath,
Release the darkness and the pain.
Release the hurt and anger from your grips.
Release the fear and the jealousy.
Continue to breathe in this warm light and breathe out the darkness and the pain.
Continue to imagine this cleansing each cell with this loving warm light and continue to imagine breathing out the residue of your pain.
Our emotions are messengers.
They come into our lives to show us something we are supposed to learn,
But we're not always in a place to recognize or hear what these messengers are telling us.
Many times we attach our feelings of hurt and pain onto these emotions and we're unable to see what they are actually bringing us,
Unable to hear what they are trying to help us learn.
They're trying to show us something within ourselves that is unsettled and needs attention,
Something that yearns for love and understanding,
But our feelings cloud this message.
As we continue to sit with our breath in and out,
We sit in a more calm place and hear with this light,
This warm light of love and peace that surrounds us.
It becomes easier to listen.
It becomes easier to hear.
What emotion have you been holding onto?
Your body knows the answer.
Your body knows where you have been holding onto it and it's caused you pain,
Emotional pain,
Mental pain,
Physical pain.
As you breathe in this light,
Breathe it into this place in your body that has been holding onto this emotion.
Breathe in this light to wrap this emotion up in love.
Surround it with love.
Sit with it in love.
Allow your feelings to be quiet and still as you sit with this light and this love and this emotion and listen.
What is the emotion here to help you learn?
What stirs unsettled in your soul?
What is it inside of you that yearns and longs for peace?
It is okay if the answer isn't quite clear just yet.
Continue to practice sitting with this stillness and this warm light.
Practice listening.
Practice being still.
Let this emotion that has been trapped inside of you for so long,
Let it feel your love.
Let it know that you are wanting to learn from it.
You want to know what this emotion has been trying to teach you about yourself.
Now continue to breathe in the love and the light and breathe out the pain and the fear and the darkness.
Sometimes it takes time to release emotions.
Be loving with yourself.
Be gentle with yourself.
Be kind with yourself.
Know that when you are ready,
You will learn exactly what you are supposed to learn.
Be open and willing to be with it.
These emotions that are the messengers,
They are not good or bad.
When we attach our feelings to them,
That is when they take on the different forms of energy,
Whether that's negative or positive.
That is when they become embedded into our bodies and become a part of who we are.
Let's continue to breathe deeply and work on learning from the emotions inside of us.
As the feeling of this emotion lightens,
So does the hold you have had on it.
Now imagine your gentle fingers,
Full of love and light and warmth,
Search for this emotion within you.
And as you find it,
Imagine the strings that have been wrapped around this emotion,
Tangled and knotted so tightly.
And imagine that you are loosening these tangled knots and strings with every breath you take.
Imagine your light circling this entangled emotion and one by one,
This light untangles every string.
Each string is then laid to the side while the others are being worked on.
And as it gently and lovingly continues to loosen the emotion from the inner grips of your body,
You feel lighter and lighter.
You feel your breath reaching more deeply into this area and everything is beginning to become more clear.
Continue to untangle each and every string that has been wrapped around this emotion until every single one of them has been loosened or cut or slipped off.
And now imagine that you are taking this pile of heavy strings and you have this large,
Black garbage bag sitting next to you.
You pick up every one of these heavy strings that have burdened you for so long,
Along with any other baggage that has been holding you down,
And you place it into this black garbage bag.
Keep loading it until it feels heavier and heavier and as it gets heavier,
You feel lighter and lighter.
When you have filled this bag,
Inside of your mind,
Tie it up so tight that nothing can get out.
Now imagine that there is a garbage truck driving by picking up the garbage.
Imagine yourself taking this heavy bag full of pain and fear and other heavy feelings.
Pick up this bag and throw it with all of your energy and might into the back of this garbage truck.
Imagine that this truck smashes the bag down until it's compressed and watch as it begins to drive away,
Taking with it all of the garbage that was holding this emotion down and watch it continue to drive further and further away from you.
You feel lighter than ever.
Breathe in this light and breathe out the darkness and the fog.
And sit with this emotion,
Looking at it and seeing it from a new perspective.
It is no longer attached to you.
Now it's free to sit there with you and teach you.
Emotion is no longer a part of your body.
It is just an emotion.
Just a messenger to share a message of love from the universe.
There is no more fear or anger holding it there.
It's free to move and you are able to hear it.
Sit with this emotion for a while.
Sit with love and listen.
What is it trying to tell you?
Breathe it in and breathe it out.
Now thank the emotion for helping you to grow.
Thank it for being a part of your life,
Being there to teach you.
Thank it for having patience with you and forgiveness for having it trapped within you for so long.
Thank it for being a messenger,
A friend and for loving you enough to want to help you grow.
Send this emotion love.
Send it so much love and warmth.
And breathe it out.
Let it go.
Release.
This emotion may come back for a visit sometime.
And it's okay.
You will know how to welcome it from a place of love rather than trap it and hold it deep within you from a place of fear.
And if for some reason you allow the fear to creep back in and take a hold of it again,
It's okay.
Just make the time to recognize that it's there.
And if you need to,
Come back to this meditation to help you release it once again.
Your body yearns for freedom from these trapped emotions,
And yet your feelings are what traps them.
Teach yourself to see this happening and send love throughout your entire body.
Pulse this love throughout every part of your body.
Stop the feelings from taking control.
Feel them for a moment and then breathe out what you are feeling.
Honor the feelings.
Don't hide them.
Honor them by saying what you feel.
I feel frustrated.
Or I feel angry.
Or I feel sad.
Or I feel jealous.
I feel hurt.
I feel embarrassed.
I feel afraid.
Continue to say everything that you're feeling until you have no more to say.
Breathe in this love and light and acknowledge this emotion making itself known.
Ask it what it wants you to learn.
The more you become familiar with this process,
The more easily it will become to listen and to hear what it is trying to teach you.
Be gentle on yourself,
My dear sweet soul.
Be loving.
Practice pulsing that love from within you.
Breathe in more of this warm light and breathe out what is left of your painful feelings.
Breathe in this loving light and breathe out the fear.
Honor what you feel.
Learn from it.
And when you're ready,
Let it go.
