Welcome,

I'm so glad you're here.

Take some time to settle into a comfortable position for this grounding practice.

This could be sitting or lying down,

Allowing your body to rest back into the chair or bed.

And if you're sitting,

Have your feet planted on the floor.

You can choose to close down your eyes or you can lower and soften your gaze,

Allowing yourself to tune inwards.

Drop down into the body,

Soften,

Settle and connect with your breath as it flows in and flows out at your nose,

Arriving and passing,

Ebbing and flowing.

As you inhale,

Think about welcoming the breath and as you exhale,

Letting go.

So welcoming the breath and letting it go,

Relaxing into the surface below and just pausing here to acknowledge that surface,

Where it begins and your body ends.

Feeling the pull of gravity on your body and how the ground comes up to support you,

Hold you,

Anchor you in this moment.

Sensing that anchor,

That support at your feet,

All along the backs of your legs,

At your pelvis and the whole of your back.

Now choosing one place where your body connects with the surface below and exploring how that surface feels.

Does it have a temperature,

A texture?

Is the support firm or soft?

What sensations dwell here at this contact point?

Maybe some pressure,

Warmth,

Tingles perhaps?

And then zooming out to become aware of the whole body,

Cradled by the earth,

Grounded and connected to something so much bigger than yourself.

Continue to breathe and enjoy the sense of being grounded,

Safe here in this moment.

Now taking some time to consider the qualities of the ground,

Solid yet comforting,

Strong and stable,

A steadfast support,

A sturdy anchor that you can depend on when you feel adrift or destabilized by the ways of life.

And on your next inhale,

Think about breathing in those qualities of the earth,

Its solidity,

Dependability,

Resilience.

Drawing strength and support from the ground as you breathe.

Then on your next out-breath,

Imagine discharging tension into the ground,

Letting go of concerns and stress and burdens into the earth,

Inviting your body to relax,

Sink,

Merge with the ground below.

Just enjoying a final few moments here,

Dwelling on the support of the ground and with every out-breath unwinding,

Sinking,

Melting into the earth,

At your feet,

Backs of your legs,

Pelvis and the whole of your back.

And now gently shifting your awareness away from the ground and towards the air around you,

Feeling its touch on exposed skin and becoming aware of the space you're inhabiting.

Gently stretching your body up and out into that space,

Inviting some alertness back into the body.

And when you are ready,

Open your eyes.

Thank you for your practice today.

I hope it provided some calm,

Ease,

Connection and support to take into your day.

Please know you can return to this practice any time you need to feel more grounded,

Balanced,

To ride the waves of life with greater ease.
