Welcome.
Let's start by connecting with our breath.
Breathe in deeply and let all your thoughts and distractions collect in the air in your lungs.
And then firmly let go as you empty your lungs of air.
Breathe in a sense of alertness and presence,
Exhaling any nagging sensations of distraction.
Pull back all your energy that might be leaking or attaching to people,
Places,
Conversations,
Events or tasks.
And just for now let all of you be present in this moment.
That's it.
You're doing so well.
Has anyone told you that lately?
You are doing so well.
Yes,
There's always room for improvement,
But that's the fertile soil from which life sprouts.
You are doing just fine.
Give yourself a break.
Now take a moment to notice your body.
Not just the position and state of your body,
But also the compartments and functions,
Limbs and organs,
Skin,
Bone,
Liver and lashes.
A symphony of character is forming your vessel.
You are one of nearly 8 billion living humans on this planet.
One of 105 billion humans that have ever lived so far.
Your species of human is one of 1.
87 million on the planet.
From bear to turtle,
Mushroom to beetle,
8.
7 million species occupying this beautiful planet.
Earth.
The third of eight planets in our solar system,
A sphere of elements 3.
5 million times bigger than your human body,
Travelling at 67,
000 miles per hour around the sun,
Never losing course.
Spinning around our sun,
Which is 109 times bigger than Earth,
A massive ball of light and energy that is but one of 100 billion sparkling suns in our galaxy.
Our tiny little galaxy amongst an extended family of 100 billion galaxies in the known universe,
Some with stars 100 times bigger than our sun.
Let the enormity and variety of that sink in.
Stretch your mind to its outer edges and try to comprehend the vast majesty of creation.
100 billion galaxies like ours.
And in all that orderly chaos and size creation thought it worthwhile to create you.
Tiny little you on this tiny little planet amongst millions of other tiny little species.
Tiny you with a body made up of 30 trillion cells all set with the instructions to keep you breathing and moving and sensing and digesting and feeling and dreaming and desiring and playing and laughing and hugging.
In some inexplicable miraculous way in this super crowded universe,
Something saw you not as a waste of time or energy but as a worthwhile citizen of creation.
I'm not asking you to have faith in something.
I'm telling you that something already has faith in you.
I cannot believe that a universe that can choreograph a dance of 100 billion galaxies would have any interest in wasting energy.
And therefore you must have innate value.
You must have some role to play here,
Not to prove yourself but because you already have purpose and worth.
You even being here is all the proof you need of your value.
Feel how the gigantic scale of creation lifts some of the worries off your shoulders.
Consider how your struggles are comically minuscule in comparison to cosmic shows of light as stars fall through the space at a speed of 120,
000 miles per hour.
We're constantly trying to better ourselves and feeling weighed down with a sense of inadequacy,
Never even able to comprehend the impact we have in every moment that we move in the web of creation.
Every smile and kind deed and even the moments of shame and aggression reverberates through this web of life benefiting the whole in countless ways.
Your job is done.
Your purpose is served.
In yoga we have a word called drishti which translates to gaze or where you're looking which has an obvious function when you're practicing yoga but when you consider drishti as more of a perspective than simply where you're looking it takes on a whole new meaning.
The one or god or source or the universe can be such an abstract concept.
I think God is a perspective.
It's a point of view that sees everything and that says this is good.
