Have you had results with positive affirmations? Do you believe in them but know that you have to really believe what you are saying for them to actually work? I know I have struggled with positive affirmations, buying into if I say it enought they will work, but I'm not convinced. Why am I positive affirmations have a good feel about them, they feel different, more productive. This is just small taste of my experience. Have a listen and let me know what you think.

So affirmations are powerful,

Right?

Like a form of reprogramming or hypnotizing ourselves,

A kind of positive propaganda for the brain.

And it can be really powerful,

Really useful,

And has probably helped thousands of people.

However,

Unless you truly believe your I am statement,

Your positive statement,

It's kind of a little bit like having the accelerator and the brake pedal at the same time.

Okay,

I'm accelerating,

I am abundant,

I'm exciting,

But this little voice in the back of my head is saying,

Oh,

You're not really,

You've got that bill and this bill and you know,

So that brake pedal is coming on and so you've kind of got this pedal and acceleration going at the same time.

So I came across this new form of positive affirmation.

I was on a YouTube video and she had been to some motivational speaker who may claim to have come up with the why am instead of I am.

But unfortunately,

I don't know the name of who that person was.

So I'm not claiming to have come up with this myself.

However,

After practicing it on myself,

I found it incredibly useful.

So I'll give you an example.

First off for myself before we try it for you.

So say I using the abundant one,

I sit there and breathing in and breathing out and I'm becoming relaxed.

And then I say,

I am abundant.

And I feel that little niggle in the back of the brain saying,

Not really.

But yes,

I am.

If I believe it enough,

I'm abundant.

Now what this does,

What I learned recently,

What this does is by changing those words to why am I abundant?

I get a very different response.

So you could try this with me.

So I've already as I already explained before,

If I do I am I get that kind of little niggle of no,

You're not really.

And so now we're just going to relax,

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Just sit up nice and tall and try and relax your shoulders and your arms.

Maybe close your eyes if you feel comfortable to try to relax all the little muscles around your eyes.

Relax your jaw,

Your whole face.

And just feel the air coming in and out of your nostrils as you breathe.

A little bit cool as you breathe in,

A little bit warm as you breathe out.

Now ask yourself,

Why am I abundant?

Now you may have found like me,

That after a little bit of time had gone past it,

The negative side sort of creeped back in.

However,

Before that,

Perhaps for you,

I'm not sure,

But for me,

Before that,

When I asked myself,

Why am I abundant?

What came up was,

Because I have a home,

I have a wonderful life,

I have good health,

I have beautiful children,

I have a car,

I have the internet.

All the things that I'm often grateful for when I do my gratitude practice just comes up.

Why am I abundant?

And all of these reasons for my abundance arrive.

Nothing about money and bills.

A bit later on,

Perhaps that sort of negative tone would come in.

But if I say,

I am abundant,

Then almost immediately I kind of get some negative little,

But this,

But that,

But this.

So I encourage you to try using this in place of your I am.

So instead of I am love,

Why am I love?

Just let the answers arise,

Whatever they are.

And as soon as any sort of somewhat negative answers pop in,

Just stop.

Begin thinking about something else.

Just allow the positive ones to arise.

Why am I enough?

Why am I healthy?

Why am I stress free?

Why am I capable of this job?

Why do I have friends?

Why am I strong?

Why am I happy?

Why do I sleep well?

So in the case of when the why am is something that you're not,

So say you are not sleeping well,

And you say,

Why am I sleeping well?

You may notice that your mind or your inner guidance doesn't just make it happen.

It arises with actions that you can take that may improve your ability to sleep.

So when I say,

Why am I sleeping well?

My instant responses are because I am not eating too late.

I'm not eating spices too late or anything that disturbs my sleep.

I'm trying to make sure I get to sleep by a certain time.

I'm not using my devices before I go to sleep.

So it's a whole kind of list of things pop up,

And it's like,

I know,

I know what I need to do to have a good night's sleep.

And this is like an internal reminder.

But yeah,

I can sleep well if I apply all the things that I know,

All those things that intuitively come out.

Just take a nice breath in with me again.

And breathe out.

I hope you find these why am's useful.

And if you'd like a why am I recording in place of I am recordings,

Please just let me know in the comments below.

And I'll be happy to make one for you.

Wishing you a lovely morning,

Day or evening.

Thank you.

Bye bye.

Loved that. I absolutely get that you need to truly believe your affirmation and that there might be an inner voice saying 'really? Are you?' I really liked the way that you explained it. It was so easy for me to use this. I am definitely going to use this. Thank you

This was a fascinating idea! It really resonated with me when often affirmations do not unfortunately, even though I keep coming back to them like I'm hell bent on making them work for me. Lol id be very curious to try an entire why Am track if you would be so gracious as to record one 🥰

This is so helpful. Resonated well for me. I like that the question why am I, implies that the following part is true. Even with some doubt, framed this way it suggests it can become true. Thank you. A really handy & simple yet powerful tool.
