Hi,

My name is Sam Curtis and thank you for joining me for this meditation.

In this one we want to look at the power of your mind.

So when you're ready,

Get yourself settled.

Sit up with a nice straight back.

Reach your crown to the ceiling,

Round your hips and feet into the floor.

And either close your eyes or create a soft gaze about a metre in front of you.

And to begin we're going to take a few deep breaths just to reset our lungs and to bring us into the present.

So breathing in through the nose and out through the nose.

Take another deep breath in through the nose,

Filling up your lungs and out through the nose,

Feeling yourself become more grounded.

Take another deep breath in through the nose,

Expanding those lungs,

Taking out your chest,

Filling up your abdomen and releasing through the nose,

Allowing your shoulders to drop away from your ears and to feel the weight of gravity upon your body.

And I want you to picture in front of you a fresh orange grove and pick one of the oranges off the tree.

Really see it in detail,

See the bright colour as you peel off the skin.

Smell the citrus as it bursts through with every peel.

Really allow yourself to experience that orange and that scent of the orange.

Perfect,

Now let it go.

Now I want you to take yourself and imagine yourself on a beach,

Sand between your toes,

Waves lapping in front of you and feel that heat on your face.

Really feel the sun beaming down and heating your body,

Tanning your skin,

Sending you its life energy,

Its life force.

Really feel the heat and let it go.

Now I want you to imagine nightfall,

Maybe you're sat on a balcony and you can just hear crickets in the garden.

Maybe there's a nice eerie silence as all of the animals and humans drift off to sleep.

Just really visualise nightfall,

Really see the stars in the sky,

The moon should she appear and that silence that comes.

Perfect,

Now let it go.

This practice of imagining these things helps to show us how powerful our mind really is.

Now just as you could taste that beautiful fresh orange and smell its scent as you peeled it or feel the heat of the sun on your skin or hear the silence of night time,

That's how powerful our thoughts are.

We can get hold of stories and allow our thoughts to create the reality and we start to live it in three dimensions through our senses.

That doesn't make them real,

That's how powerful they are and that's why you get to choose.

This is why you get to choose your thoughts so just as easily as you let go of the smell and taste of the orange to introduce the beach,

You can let go of that thought that's been holding you back and choose to think something else.

This practice is not an easy one but it really is a powerful one so whenever you can come back to this guided meditation or find yourself imagining that orange or hearing the silence of the night to remind yourself you're in control of your thoughts.

Now when you're ready I want you to wiggle your toes,

Get some movement back into your body,

Maybe that's wiggling your fingers as well,

Feel a smile spread across your face,

Take a deep breath and enjoy your day.
