Hello,
Dear one,
My name is Sade Simone,
And it's such an honor to be your guide today.
Today's practice is called How to Heal Your Inner Child.
So the simplest and most practical way that you can think about the inner child is a memory.
Perhaps it's a challenging and painful memory from when you're growing up,
Or perhaps it's just an opportunity to touch base with parts of ourselves that we haven't in a while reconnected to.
Perhaps it's a great experiment to revisit our past,
Whatever it may be,
Through our present moment awareness,
Through our ability to look into the past with compassion,
Joy,
Wisdom and love.
So that's what this practice is about.
And when we do that,
We unhook,
We untie the knots that perhaps are binding us into experiences of the past.
And it gives us the ability to live more fully in the present.
It gives us the ability to touch base with our hearts,
To uncover more of who we truly are in the present moment.
And therefore,
We can skillfully and beneficially bring forth these intrinsic qualities of the heart into our next moment,
And create a beautiful,
Sustainably happy life for ourselves.
So let's begin by doing a powerful breathing exercise,
And this exercise is called straw breath.
We're going to part our lips,
As we had a straw hanging from our lips,
And let's breathe in through the mouth and out through the nose.
Altogether,
Breath in through the mouth,
Hold at the top,
And then out through the nose.
In through the mouth,
Hold.
In through the mouth,
In through the mouth.
Let's take one more sip here,
One more,
Hold.
Hold,
And then out through the nose.
In through the mouth,
Hold at the top.
One more.
Two sips here,
One,
One more,
Hold.
Hold yourself full,
And then release.
And then allow the natural breathing rhythm to occur.
And again,
Take an opportunity now to notice the quality of your internal world.
What is it like inside?
Maybe you notice that something's changed,
Or maybe nothing at all.
That's okay,
Too.
And as we begin our practice,
This is a good opportunity to close our eyes,
If we haven't yet,
And invite intentionality and grace into our posture.
Make sure the body is relaxed,
And I invite you to visualize yourself in the forest,
Really tall trees.
You look up and you see how tall the trees are.
And as you're looking up,
You see the sunlight coming in through the leaves.
You feel the cooling air of the forest brushing by your arms and your face.
You feel the wet grass underneath your feet as you continue to walk.
And as you continue to walk in the forest,
You notice this really big tree right in front of you.
And from behind this tree,
The five-year-old version of you,
Your five-year-old self,
Walks in behind the tree with a big smile on their face,
Looks up to you.
You have a big smile on your face,
Too.
You kneel down before them.
You grab their little hands.
You look into their big,
Bright eyes.
You see their little teeth.
You stroke their hair.
You embrace them for a moment.
And as you release them,
You look at them and say,
Is there anything you have to tell me?
And just do your very best effort to listen.
And if at any moment your attention wanders,
Just invite it back and see if you can deeply listen to this beautiful,
Young,
Five-year-old version of yourself.
And you express gratitude for what they've shared with you.
And then they look up to you and say,
Is there anything you have to tell me?
And as you finish,
You hug tight,
Stroke their hair,
Express your love and gratitude,
And carry on walking.
And as you continue to walk in the forest,
You hear the stream.
You hear the sound of the water.
And you walk towards it.
And as you approach the stream from behind a tree,
The 11-year-old version of you walk towards you with a big smile on their face.
And you have a big smile on your face.
And you embrace them.
You take in this experience.
And you look them in their eyes.
And you say,
Hey,
Is there anything you have to tell me?
And you listen deeply.
And then they look at you and ask you,
Is there anything you have to tell me?
And you both express gratitude for this moment,
For this share.
You hug them.
You stroke their hair.
You hold their hand.
And you carry on walking.
And then you see this beautiful tree.
And you sit with your back against the tree.
And you just take this moment to internalize all of what you've just heard.
And then slowly,
We're going to begin to bring this practice into a close.
I invite you to bring both hands in prayer position in front of your heart,
To express gratitude for your efforts,
Gratitude for this beautiful,
Profound practice.
And we take a moment to wish that everyone,
With no exception,
May find the tools to bring healing to their inner child.
And then slowly,
You can bring a gentle smile to the corner of your lips.
You may open your eyes when you're ready.
Thank you so much for your practice.
I'm sending you love.
