Good morning.
Thank you for joining today's meditation.
Today we're going to focus on setting an intention for the day.
Let's go ahead and relax.
Take a seated position or go ahead and lay down on your back and get comfortable.
We'll spend a few minutes just focusing on the breath.
Let's go ahead and take a deep inhale into the nose and exhale out your mouth.
Inhale through your nose and exhale out your mouth.
As you inhale,
I want you to pretend that your stomach's like a balloon and you're blowing up your diaphragm.
On the exhale,
You're staying at the sink,
Squeezing a sponge and squeezing all the air out of that diaphragm.
Inhale in and exhale.
Exhale renewing energy and oxygen into the brain and exhale any stale energy from the night.
Let it go.
Relax your mind.
Relax your forehead.
And pinch your jaw.
Move it gently side to side.
Relax your upper body.
Let your shoulders drop.
Gently move your head to the right and to the left,
To the right and to the left.
Just shaking out any staleness or stiffness from the night.
Relax your upper arm and your lower arm.
Relax your wrists.
Relax your hands and your fingers.
Gently rub your fingers and your thumb together.
And circular motions,
Allowing the blood flow through your fingertips.
And starting to link the body.
Relax your chest and your belly.
Let your belly rise and fall naturally,
Organically.
Rising on the inhale and falling and constricting on the exhale.
Rising on the inhale and falling on the exhale.
Just continue to relax the body even more.
Relax your hips.
Relax your upper leg,
Your right leg,
Your left leg.
Relax your knees.
Go ahead and gently move your ankle in a circular motion.
Taking out all the stale energy or stiffness from the night.
And starting to wake up to energize the feet.
Wiggle your toes.
And just let the body relax now.
Whatever you're feeling from the night or however you're feeling this morning,
Give yourself permission to let go and to accept whatever experience you're having right now.
Whatever expectation that you have for the day,
Let it go.
Any worries or anxieties for the day,
Let it go.
And continue to bring your focus back to the breath.
If you're experiencing uncomfortable emotions,
Anxiety or worry,
Let it go.
Observe your thinking now.
Our brain is constantly eavesdropping on our thoughts.
Waiting to embed the next thought into our neurocircuitry.
We end up having habitual thought patterns.
And therefore in return creating habitual emotional experiences,
Physical experiences,
And cognitive experiences that can really limit us or create stuckness in our lives.
So it's so important that we pay attention to our thoughts.
We know they're influencing the brain and our neurocircuitry.
Creating new perspectives,
Getting curious and challenging ourselves to create new thoughts in general.
That's how we start to reshape the brain and have more constructive and productive experiences.
How many of us woke up this morning already anxious about the day,
The to-do list,
Already flying through our mind,
Our own intrinsic expectation and expectations of others already weighing us down?
That old way of thinking,
It limits us and keeps us stuck.
It creates difficult mood right off the bat when we wake up in the morning.
So we can challenge ourselves to slow down,
Focus on the breath,
Allow the body to relax,
Bring our conscious and deliberate awareness in this moment.
A great way to start the day and to create experiences that we might have missed if we were wrapped up in our conditioned ways of responding to the morning.
So as we focus on our breathing,
Whatever thoughts and emotions that we might be having in this moment,
We're going to normalize and accept and not judge them.
We're going to let the body continue to relax.
We want us to shift our perspective for the day.
We're going to do that by bringing intention,
A new type of intention to this beautiful day.
How can we create the day that we desire and that we deserve?
What thoughts do I need to implement in my thinking today that will help to boost my mood and give me energy and confidence to face the day?
How do I want to feel today?
What experiences do I want to have for the day?
Ask ourselves these types of questions and getting curious and contemplating by using our imagination to create the type of thoughts,
Feelings,
And overall experiences that we would like for the day.
Let's go ahead and take a big deep breath in and exhale.
Deep breath in and exhale.
So we're going to use our self affirmation tools to create the type of day that we desire.
Let's go ahead and give ourselves permission to be open to what the day has to offer us.
Let's give ourselves permission to set the agenda,
But also to be flexible and adaptable enough to change if we need to.
Let's give ourselves permission to see this day with gratitude.
Let's give ourselves permission to welcome the abundance that we have all around us.
Let's bring gratitude to the life that we have.
Let's bring gratitude to the work that's in front of us for the day and our careers and jobs and positions and roles that make us feel a sense of belonging,
Purpose,
And passion.
Let's give gratitude to the work that's in front of us today that will help us to connect and to validate and to support others.
Let's bring gratitude to our health,
To our bodies,
To our breath.
Let's bring gratitude to our connections and our relationships.
So often we focus on what we're missing or the relationships that we don't have.
If we can switch our thinking and change our focus to the relationships and connections that we already have,
It's going to create a sense of safety and security that's not there when we dwell on what may be missing in our lives.
So whatever this day brings,
If we can bring intentional gratitude to our experiences,
The brain will interpret that as peace and start to relax.
Our peace leads to serenity and the warmth in the body,
Acceptance of our experiences,
A lift in our mood,
And a healthy and productive thinking that carries us through each and every day.
Thank you for meditating with me this morning.
Thank you for slowing down long enough this morning to focus on your breath,
Allow your body to relax and to wake up gently and to bring your conscious awareness to setting your intention for the day.
Have a wonderful day.
Be well.
Take care.
Namaste.
