You Finding yourself in a very comfortable place,
And if you're able to close your eyes.
Beginning to become a witness of the breath.
That means is just simply observing the incoming breath through your nose.
Maybe even adjusting your physiology,
Adjusting your posture.
As you exhale,
Letting the exhale be one of pleasure that runs down your body across the knees and grounds you into the seat,
The bed,
The chair,
Wherever you are.
Continue to breathe in through your nose,
Being mindful of the sensations that are coming in,
The ones that are going.
We're creating this physiology of openness,
One that lets our heart lift and one that lets our feet ground.
So if you're sitting in a chair,
Grounding your feet,
You're on the bed,
Maybe hanging your feet off the side of the bed,
Letting them touch the earth.
Connected from heart,
Raising to the universe and feet grounded upon the earth.
I want you to begin to bring into your visualization a picture of yourself.
Just a simple picture,
Maybe a portrait of what you look like.
Your hair,
Your eyes,
Your hands and arms,
Your stature,
Your height.
And as we look at these outward characteristics,
You may find that you resemble that of your ancestors.
Same cheekbones as grandma,
The same eye color as grandfather,
Or where the lineage runs beyond the first generation and second generation.
Maybe you're seeing traits related to your appearance,
Traits relating to how you show up from the outward sense.
As we continue to breathe mindfully,
We may be able to find ourselves staring at this portrait that we're visualizing of ourselves and noticing how we're made up of all these different traits.
Even our skin color,
Our eye color,
Our hair color,
Our body stature,
All passed to us through many,
Many generations.
In this day of memory,
You may begin to recognize traits of your own that you have received from distant relatives.
In this meditation of our memory,
Maybe even allowing that and accepting that as part of your being that I am made up of this physical energy,
This physical body,
This physical place,
Based upon traits that have been passed to me.
And in this moment,
I am grateful for these hands,
This hair,
These eyes,
Finding yourself appreciating your own existence.
Now as you stare at this portrait of yourself,
You may begin to begin digging a little deeper,
Not just past the physical sense,
But moving towards some of the characteristics and values of your being.
What are your values?
And what are those values were received from your generational past?
Now values are hard to define sometimes,
But we feel them.
We know that that is a value of our own,
Whether that be how we show up in the way of our spirituality,
The way we represent our behavior.
But all of these values live somewhere within our heart.
And it is connected to this heart coherence and then attached through the soul to the space in the limbic mind,
The space where your emotions are.
I want you to tap into this tether,
Which is in the center of your mind and in the center of your heart.
You may be beginning to identify the values in which you possess,
Either that you've cultivated or that have been passed to you for many generations,
Embracing them with gratitude,
Embracing,
Maybe even bringing your hands towards your heart as though you were soothing that space where I just being present with it,
Feeling the heartbeat or even just feeling the comfort of your hands across your heart.
The values that you hold in your heart make up another layer of your being.
In this space of heart coherence,
We begin to go deep into our own healing.
You see our values are really what make up how we show up in this universe.
Our physical appearance may change and it is temporary,
But our values,
Our values stay with us and they are passed from generation to generation.
Seeing this picture of yourself with your values stored deeply within the knowledge of your heart,
Begin to tap into that.
Almost if you could see the storage that's within your heart of these values as if though we're a filing system,
A filing system that is easily available and ready for you to reference at any time.
We shift our memory,
Maybe some of our ancestors,
Our friends,
Our experiences with others that have instilled other values within us.
That of being truthful,
That of not lying or stealing,
That of being compassionate towards others and filing that away right where we found it,
Knowing that it is there and it is part of our existence.
As we file that away on this special day,
Maybe bringing observation to a relative who offered the ultimate sacrifice or a friend that offered the ultimate sacrifice based upon their value system.
Knowing that their existence is temporary here in this incarnation,
But with many incarnations to come and this value that they instilled upon us will live through many,
Many lifetimes.
An ancient saying or an ancient fable is based in Tibetan tradition that as many times as it takes a bird carrying a silk scarf in its mouth,
Flying over the mountain once every 10 years,
As long as it takes for that silk scarf in the bird's beak to wear down the mountain is how many lifetimes we will live.
You see,
We're just getting started.
With these values deep within your storage system within your heart coherence,
Knowing that you are cultivating and passing these values,
Passing them to your generations,
Passing them to your friends.
Looking back at the picture of ourselves,
We may see some of these values shining through.
We may see our ability to forgive.
We may see our unending compassion for those in need.
We may also see the values that we're working on,
The areas that we may consider our shadow.
Embracing that,
Knowing that we are whole all the same and this picture is complete.
Spending a moment here in our own completeness and honoring the memory,
Not only of how our outward characteristics look now from generations past,
But from our inward characteristics and values.
Taking a moment here,
Resting in this openness,
In this observation and in this memory,
In this memory of our past generations.
Finding gratitude in our hearts just by bringing your hand to your heart and continuing to breathe as we rest in this moment observing.
.
Slowly taking a breath in through the nose,
As you hold your heart one more time.
And slowly release.
Offering thanks and gratitude.
Thanks for joining today.
