The River of Change - When life asks you to let go - of a place, a person, a version of yourself - change can feel overwhelming. This gentle guided visualization invites you to step into the flow of change with tenderness, courage, and trust. Roslyn leads you along the river's path, helping you loosen your grip, release what you no longer need, and find your footing in the unknown. As the river carries you forward, you’ll be reminded that even in the messiness and most difficult of change, something beautiful is unfolding.

Welcome,

My name's Roslyn,

Thank you for joining me for this visualisation to help with change.

Wherever you are in your life right now,

Whether you're facing a joyful change,

A painful letting go or simply a shift in season,

You're so welcome here.

This is a space of quiet,

A space of holding,

A space for you where nothing is expected of you,

You can simply be.

So let's begin with grounding ourselves,

Taking time to get into a comfortable position.

Whatever that feels like for you,

You may want to lie down or sit,

Adjusting the body and checking in with the body to notice if there's any adjustments required.

I invite you to notice the breath entering your body and leaving again.

Inhale gently and exhale softly.

Allow your breath to slow,

Not forcing,

Just relaxing into it.

Notice the surface that supports your body,

Any of the areas that touch the surface supports you to the earth.

And feel this steadiness,

I invite you to let your shoulders fall,

Softening and relaxing and give permission to your whole body to sink a little deeper into a comfortable,

Relaxing place where the muscles and the whole body soften.

Let your jaw soften,

Your temples,

Your forehead,

The whole head.

For this short time,

You have nowhere to go and nothing to do,

You are safe,

You are held.

I invite you to picture a river,

Not just any river,

Your own river,

The river of your life.

This beautiful river winds through a quiet valley,

Lit by soft sunlight.

There's no rush here,

Just a gentle,

Natural movement forward.

Imagine yourself sitting on its bank,

Maybe on soft,

Lush grass or warm earth.

You are supported,

You are safe,

You are relaxed.

As you look out over the water,

You notice that it carries many things,

Memories,

Emotions,

Dreams,

Moments from your life.

As it flows naturally,

There is nothing you need to do,

Just watch,

Just witness.

You are not in the river,

You are beside it,

Rooted,

Calm,

Safe and curious.

And the water,

It keeps flowing gently and beautifully,

Because that is what rivers do.

That is what life does.

As you sit here and reflect upon change,

Your experience of change,

Current,

Pending,

Notice what arises,

Feelings in the body,

Emotions,

Thoughts.

Maybe you're facing a change that you've longed for,

But feel unsure.

A change you didn't ask for and don't want.

Whatever that change,

Your thoughts,

Feelings and emotions,

They're all welcome here.

Let's name them gently.

The thoughts,

Emotions,

Feelings.

Maybe there's fear,

Anxiety,

Worrisome thoughts,

Maybe feeling unready.

Gently labelling what is coming up for you.

I invite you to visualise placing each of these thoughts,

Feelings and emotions onto a cupped leaf,

One by one.

And going to the water's edge.

Gently kneeling and one by one,

Placing each leaf on the water's surface.

Watching them gently float past.

No judgement,

No shame.

Just breathe.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

As each leaf moves gently along the river,

We let go of the need to have all the answers.

We let go of the need to control.

Now I invite you to bring your attention back to yourself.

The one watching the river,

The river of your life.

The one who placed each leaf and watched it floating,

Moving gently down the river.

You are not the river.

You are not the waves of emotion or the pieces of your past.

You are not the worries of the future.

You are the space all around it,

The steady heart that witnesses change without becoming it.

You are the riverbank ancient and wise.

And even as changes move through your life,

You remain.

You are the home you return to.

Let this moment nourish you.

Let it remind you that you do not have to fear change.

Change is not a punishment.

It's the rhythm of all living things.

The seasons,

The tides change.

You too change.

Take a slow breath in.

And feel strength entering your body.

Take a slow breath out and release anything you no longer need.

You don't need to control the river.

You don't need to outrun it.

You can return to the riverbank again and again.

And meet yourself there with compassion.

And when you're ready,

You'll know how to step forward.

Not in fear,

But in trust.

Not with force,

But with grace.

You are already enough.

And you are not alone.

All of us,

Everyone,

Are changing.

And you are not alone.

We are all experiencing change.

Take one more deep,

Grounding breath.

Placing a hand on your chest.

And repeating these words.

I am safe.

I am strong.

I am safe.

I am strong.

I am safe.

Thank you for joining me.

Take care and I look forward to spending time with you again soon.

This is a gentle meditation that allows you to touch base with the oft times complexity of emotions that can wear us down and helps us let them go of them in a positive way … Roslyn has a very reassuring voice. This is a meditation that I know I will return to.
