This counted breathing exercise is perfect for when you are feeling overwhelmed, drained or energy or overly stressed, as you are guided to use the breath to release any tensions held in the body and mind. Tristan invites you to absorb the sound of your own breath to find, both a newfound lightness of the body, and clarity of the mind. This practice can be undertaken seated, lying down, walking, and with your eyes open or closed.

Transcript

The following is a counted breath exercise.

You can do this activity or technique seated,

Lying down,

Walking,

With your eyes open or closed.

Now I invite you to adopt a comfortable position of your choice.

Now direct your full attention to your breath.

Take no struggle around breathing and use the breath to release any tension.

Now slowly deepen your inhalations and exhalations.

Let your breath flow in a steady unbroken stream and continue until last to stop.

Let your attention be connected to the breath as it flows in and out.

Bring all your attention to the expansion and contraction of your abdomen as you breathe deeply in and out.

With each exhalation release all tension held in your body.

Breathe out any holdings in your body or the mind.

Use your breath to progressively enter a deeper level of stillness and silence.

Now we'll continue with 10 more slow deep breaths.

Count them like this.

10.

I am breathing in.

10.

I am breathing out.

9.

I am breathing in.

9.

I am breathing out.

10.

I am breathing out.

And continue until last to stop.

And be absorbed in the sound of your own breath.

Let yourself be more relaxed and peaceful with each breath.

Now allow your breath to return to normal.

Feel the energetic impact of the breath and form of pulsations in your body.

Let your mind merge and melt into this river of energy flowing through your body and mind.

This concludes the countered breath exercise.

Namaste.
