Welcome to the Sleep Easy Forest Visualization.
The first thing we're going to do is get ourselves comfortably in a position that we are undisturbed,
Unaffected by pain and stress and tension as best as we can.
The important thing about this visualization is that you do your best to actually visualize what we're talking about.
As you settle into your comfortable position,
I want you to gently close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in,
Allowing your abdomen to fully expand.
Slowly exhale,
And with each exhale,
I want you to release any tension that you're holding in your body.
Continue this practice for just a moment,
Deeply breathing in and slowly exhaling.
Now gently close your eyes and imagine yourself lying in a serene forest right after the sun went down.
I don't want you to imagine yourself lying on sticks and rocks,
Unless that's what you're into,
But rather a nice soft piece of grass.
When I do this,
I imagine myself in an open circle in the forest on freshly grown soft patch of grass.
Now imagine yourself looking up at the sky and seeing the first stars of the evening,
Feeling the cool air dance across your skin,
Remembering to breathe deeply and with every exhalation sinking deeper into a state of relaxation,
Inhaling the calm of the night and exhaling any lingering worries or thoughts,
Allowing yourself to have a moment undisturbed,
Unbothered by unaccomplished tasks,
Stress,
Physical pain and tension.
This is simply a moment for yourself.
Let's move our focus to our feet and with every breath,
Feel a wave of relaxation spreading from your toes through your feet and up to your ankles,
Every muscle and tendon unwinding.
Now let this soothing wave move slowly up your legs,
Relaxing all your muscles as it travels up your calves,
Round to your shins and to your knees and your thighs.
Take a moment to appreciate your body's natural rhythm,
Noticing your heartbeat slow and steady,
Your breath deep and even.
Allow this rhythm to lull you into a deeper state of complete relaxation.
Now let the wave continue to travel up through your chest and your shoulders,
Releasing any tension as it goes.
Feel it and follow it down your arms to your fingertips and back up your arms to your neck and into your head.
Now focus your attention on your body as a whole.
Feel the connection points between your body and the mattress or the soft patch of grass in the forest and continue to inhale deeply and exhale slowly,
Releasing tension throughout your body with every exhale.
And in this peaceful forest,
Under the watchful eyes of the stars,
Feel yourself drifting closer and closer to sleep.
The quiet sounds of the night,
The gentle rustling of the leaves and the distant calls of nocturnal creatures becoming a lullaby that accompanies you into your dream.
Resting here in this serene place as you allow yourself to drift off into a deep,
Restful,
Much needed sleep.
And when you wake,
You will feel refreshed and rejuvenated,
Ready to embrace a new day.
