Welcome to the meditation for mindfully connecting and bonding with your baby during breastfeeding.
This session will allow you to utilize established mindfulness techniques to enrich this beautiful,
Quiet time with your baby and nurture a deep,
Internal and spiritual connection with not only your child,
But all that is around you.
So let's begin by getting comfortable with your baby.
With your baby relaxed on a nursing pillow or however you would like that will support a relaxed and calm environment for you to nourish your baby throughout this meditation.
Allow your baby to latch onto your breast and settle into a relaxed position while supporting your baby's posture and recognize as your little one begins to suckle quietly at first,
Stimulating the letdown reflex and flow of milk from your body.
Close your eyes and while I count to three,
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose.
You will hold for a moment and then exhale slowly.
Let's begin now.
Inhale.
One,
Two,
Three.
Hold for a moment and then exhale slowly,
Releasing any built up tension,
Stress or anxiety that you might be holding onto in your physical body.
Just breathe it all out and let it go.
And we will repeat that again.
Inhale deep.
One,
Two,
Three.
Hold for a moment and then once again exhale,
Feeling your body release and relax,
Releasing all of your worries and tension for the day.
Return to a normal breath.
Feel the muscles in your face,
Neck and shoulders relax and soften.
Move down through your body,
Feeling a sense of your body.
Feel a calm sense of peace and serenity envelop yourself and your baby as you settle into the present moment.
All there is,
Is here and now,
This very special moment with your child.
Your baby should still be suckling and you may have already begun to feel the tingling sensation that often accompanies your milk letting down and beginning to flow more rapidly and easily.
Pay attention to this sensation.
This natural phenomenon that is your body producing all that is needed to continue the nourishment and growth of your beautiful child now outside of your body.
After the months and months that you nurtured your little one inside your body,
Seemingly part of you,
They are now continuing to receive that life sustaining nourishment as you lovingly nurse them.
With your baby latched on,
You are recreating that bond of oneness,
One infinite entity connected in a way that none other than a mother and child can experience.
You may feel your baby's suckling pattern change and slow to longer,
Slower draws on your breast.
A combination of sucks and audible swallows,
Precious restful pauses and eager determination.
Continue to breathe at your normal pace,
Focusing on the sensation of each breath as you inhale and exhale.
Try to pay close attention to the space between each breath and the stillness that lies in that space.
Continue to be aware of your surroundings.
The sounds of your baby nursing,
Breathing and swallowing.
The sensation of each tug,
His or her warm breath on your skin,
Maybe the feeling of their soft warm skin on your own or their tiny hands holding your delicate skin.
The soft sweet smell of their skin and hair.
Each of these sensations reminding you of the perceptibility of each of your senses.
Open yourself up and take in these sense objects.
Watch them as they are in this moment of awareness and become them as part of your being.
Continue to focus on the sensation of your breath in and out.
Always present and persistent,
Both within and without your control.
Another life sustaining force.
Continue noticing your breath and a sense of oneness with your baby.
Be aware that you are connected in this space.
You are both sharing and breathing the same air.
There is really no separation between you,
Even beyond the connection to your body as you now nourish them with your own life force.
When your baby is ready to begin feeding from your other breast,
Gently and mindfully remove your baby and pause for a moment to gently burp them in whatever way you feel most comfortable.
And then while maintaining an awareness of all of your actions and sensations,
Gently place your little one on your other breast,
Allowing them to once again latch on and repeat this miraculous life sustaining process.
Continue to focus on your in and out breath and any sensations that arise anchored in this present moment as you mindfully nourish and connect with your child.
The music will continue for several minutes more as you continue to meditatively feed your little one.
Feel free to pause,
End,
Or restart this meditation as needed for your own unique feeding situation.
Thank you.
