Welcome to the meditation on interdependence.
We will start this meditation by simply taking some deep cleansing breaths.
We'll inhale to the count of three,
Hold for a moment,
And then exhale.
Begin now.
Inhale,
One,
Two,
Three,
Hold for a moment,
And then exhale slowly.
One,
Two,
Three.
Let's do that again.
Inhale one,
Two,
Three,
Hold for a moment,
And then exhale all of your tension,
Stress,
And worry as we begin this meditation.
Now just breathe.
As you are breathing in and as you are breathing out,
Feel the cool air filling your lungs.
Be aware of your lungs as your chest expands and contracts with each in and out breath.
Be aware of your breath and the life it breathes into your body.
Be mindful of your lungs and thankful for your ability to breathe with ease.
Be thankful for all the oxygen and nutrients your lungs helps to deliver to your entire living being.
Become aware of your breath as you breathe in and as you breathe out.
Let's spread our awareness deeper.
Think to yourself what is allowing you to breathe.
Out there in the nature that surrounds you,
There are countless plants,
Trees,
And flowers that release oxygen into the air just by being.
The oxygen that you are breathing now.
If they didn't exist,
You could not exist.
Be aware of this and feel grateful for the plants,
Trees,
And flowers that you depend on to make breathing possible.
Continue to breathe.
Do not try to control your breath.
Allow your breath to lead you.
As you are breathing in and as you are breathing out,
Think deeply.
How many other living things in this entire world are also breathing the same air as you right here,
Right now,
Near and far?
You are sharing your breath,
Sharing the essence of life with all living beings at this point.
This very moment.
The air you are breathing has been breathed and shared by all growing things,
Growing and green.
All creatures hidden and seen,
Animals large and small in the forests and oceans as well.
Feel and be the breath that you are sharing with all of the world.
Be aware of your connection to all of these beings and that without your dependence on all these things,
You would simply not be.
As you continue to breathe in and continue to breathe out,
Be aware of the presence of the air,
Of the feeling of the air in your lungs and your chest expanding and contracting,
Creating space for these life-giving molecules.
Feel long and slowly through your nose.
Release any built-up stressful energy or tension you may be holding.
Push it out with your breath.
Return it to the universe to be recycled and reused.
Reflect on the fact that energy is neither created or destroyed,
But only changed in form.
Be aware as you breathe in and breathe out.
Your breath is always with you,
Constantly providing you with life.
The very life that you are living now.
Your body is also made up and composed of all of the same simple elements that make up all that is contained in our universe,
Stars and galaxy.
You are a part of all of these things,
And these things are all a part of you.
Be aware that as you breathe,
Also within your living body,
You are filled with the nectar of life given to you by all the water in this world,
In all the various forms it exists and is changed and cycled to.
This water flows through you within your blood,
Also giving your body life.
Be aware that without the clouds,
Rain,
Streams and oceans,
You could not be.
Breathe slowly with this realization and be thankful for all of the water that nourishes and is part of all beings in this world.
As you are breathing in and as you are breathing out,
Be mindful of your breath.
Be mindful of your life force.
Be thankful for all that is and all that does.
Be mindful of your breath.
Be mindful of your life force.
Be thankful for all that is and all that does.
The endless web of interconnectedness causes and conditions that make everything a possibility.
For without your dependence on these things,
You would not be possible.
As you breathe in and as you breathe out,
Feel genuine gratitude for all that allows you to breathe and live and share this beautiful gift of life with all living things.
Continue to focus on your breath and feel a golden light and warmth in your heart.
Feel your genuine gratefulness for this gift of life,
For all things growing and green,
All of the creatures hidden and seen,
Animals large and small in the forests and oceans as well.
To know that you are possible because of all things and you share your breath and life force with the universe around you,
Say thank you.
As you breathe in and as you breathe out,
Be mindful of your breath and center in on your sense of being.
This sense of being that has been passed down to you by all of your distant relatives and ancestors.
A piece of them,
Of all of them is contained within you.
Without them,
You wouldn't be possible.
Be grateful for all of your ancestors that have allowed for you to be alive and breathing in this moment.
They are all living on within you.
Say thank you.
As you are breathing in and as you are breathing out,
Be aware that through all the passages of time and ages,
You continue to breathe the very same air that your ancestors breathe with you now.
Realize the very same air that gave life to your ancestors from their first breaths at birth through the day that they passed and breathed their very last breath is the same air that you are breathing now.
Feel your connection to them and be grateful for this life they have allowed for you to live through all of the causes and conditions that caused you to be.
As you continue to breathe,
Feel the sheer sense of magnitude of the universe as a whole,
The infinity of space and time.
Breathe with the universe.
You are but a pinpoint in the wake of its entirety.
Yet you are the entirety.
You would not exist if it wasn't for all that is.
You are all that is.
Breathe and feel the endless connection within you and without,
For it is all you.
You are all that is.
You are all that is.
