This is a root chakra guided meditation.
The Mooladhara chakra,
The root or first chakra has to do with your sense of security and survival,
With being able to stand strongly on your own two feet and support yourself.
It is from this chakra that we garner our sense of belonging,
Our right to belong.
Find a comfortable seated position,
Either in a chair or on the floor,
Any seat that allows you to sit with a tall spine.
Take a deep breath in through the nose,
Open the mouth and let it go.
As you begin to find stillness here,
Bring your awareness to your breath,
To the gentle rise and fall of your inhales and exhales.
Take a few moments here to connect to your breath,
Following its natural rhythm in and out of the body.
Take another long,
Deep breath.
And as you exhale,
Move your attention down to the base of your spine,
The base of your seated posture.
Notice any sensations that might be present there for you.
Now begin to actively draw your inhales down towards that base of your seated posture.
Pulling your inhales down towards the base of your spine,
And if you can,
Imagine breathing down into the legs and the feet.
Bring your attention to where your body and the earth make contact.
Feel the energy of the earth beneath you.
The earth is dense.
It's solid,
Sturdy,
Heavy,
Secure.
As you keep breathing in a downward direction,
Allow yourself to merge with that energy,
Starting to feel a heaviness through the legs,
A downward pull through the base of your spine.
Imagine in your mind's eye that you are standing at the base of a big,
Beautiful mountain.
Imagine the size of its overall shape.
Its lofty peak,
High in the sky.
Its large base,
Rooted in the rock of the earth's crust.
Its steep or gently sloping sides.
Notice how massive it is,
How solid,
How unmoving.
In front of you,
You see a large opening to a cave in the mountain.
The rays of the sun streaking in invite you to enter the cave.
Step forward and go inside.
You notice that the cave has smooth walls and a high ceiling with a warm,
Gentle breeze making you feel cozy and comfortable.
You walk in further and you see a path opening into a large,
Almost circular room with a big stone lying in the middle.
A gentle beam of light slipping in through a small crack in the ceiling bathes the stone in a warm glow.
You walk over to the stone and sit on it.
You close down your eyes and you begin to feel a part of the mountain.
You feel deeply anchored and rooted to the earth.
You feel safe.
You feel the earth supporting and nourishing your entire being.
As you sit here on the stone,
Bring your awareness back to the base of your seated posture and a ruby red light glowing there at the base of your spine.
The warm red glow of your root chakra calms you and washes you with a sense of serenity and safety.
You feel grounded and unshakable,
Just like the mountain rooted to the earth.
See the ruby red light wash over you.
See it pervade every cell,
Every pore in your body.
Begin to draw your inhales up your body now,
Up toward the crown of your head.
And imagine as you breathe in,
Drawing that stability from the earth,
From the base of your spine,
Up through your body.
That safe,
Stable energy of the earth fills your body with each inhale.
Rest in this awareness,
In this rootedness,
This groundedness.
And as you breathe in,
Draw your inhales back toward the crown of your head.
Let me begin to gently rise from the star.
I will walk around and walk out of the room through the passageway to the outside of the cave.
Let me look back at the mountain and feel that you are one with it.
Start to bring your awareness back into the room,
Noticing any sounds that might be present.
Bring a gentle wiggle in two fingers and toes.
And when you are ready,
In your own time,
Open your eyes.
Know that you are safe.
You are stable and secure.
You have a right to belong.
Namaste.
