Welcome everybody,

My name is Riccardia.

I am the author of the book about breakups,

The Breakup Call,

And today I would like to join forces with you to do a little meditation together.

So when you're ready,

Bring yourself to a comfortable seat,

Wherever that is.

It could be on a regular chair,

Maybe lean forward a little so you're not hunched over against the back of it.

You could be sitting on a block or on the floor,

Whatever is comfortable for you.

And if today is one of those lying down days,

By all means go for it.

And take a few deep breaths here as soon as they offer themselves up.

Just very easy,

Inhaling and exhaling out.

Inhaling.

Full exhale.

A few more like that just to transition from whatever day or evening you're having into this moment.

If you're finding it hard to concentrate,

Or your mind,

Your thoughts,

Your emotions drift,

Just keep returning to the breath as soon as you become aware of that.

If you're new to meditation,

Feel welcome to maybe place a hand on your belly or your heart or wherever you feel this kind of touch could be helpful right now to stay in contact with you.

Whatever emotions,

Sadness,

Anger,

Relief are coming up,

Just allow them to be there because they'll be here anyway,

Whether you give permission or not.

So you might as well be with them here in conference if you will.

And know that there is no perfect place to start from.

The important thing is that we start.

If it hasn't happened already in the context of your breakup or loss over a person,

Begin to visualize how you are still connected to this person via an emotion of rage or sadness or relief,

Whatever those are for you,

Via your thoughts that you've had throughout the day or even in a very embodied way,

Maybe their presence is still very prominent in your body,

Whatever that is,

Just hold that contact for a moment,

Even if it is a little difficult or challenging,

Keep breathing.

Notice this connection you have,

These heartstrings or these plugs,

If you will,

That are still in this other person,

You're still plugged into this dream that you had together,

This life,

This situation.

Notice if it feels like there's a lot still there or if there's just certain areas or topics that connect you to them.

Keep staying with that and your breathing as you slowly but in a very visceral and visual way begin to unplug those connections you have with this other person.

Notice that whatever love was given by this person or you never gets lost even as you unplug from them.

It will just reach a new kind of force and feeling and nature.

Is there another plug here,

Another heartstring there?

Slowly draw those back to you as if you were drawing on a cable or some string and pulling it back towards your body.

Notice if any fear comes up from this detaching that you're doing or more sadness,

That's totally fine.

You're just visualizing and helping yourself to plug back into you and your energy.

Keep breathing even as thoughts and emotions feel like they're not easily reined back in.

Keep drawing that power,

Literally that electricity maybe in some cases back towards you.

Maybe you can see the inhale as calling all this energy back to you and the exhale unties you from this other person.

That doesn't mean we let all of them go right away,

That doesn't mean we shut ourselves down,

Or that we don't allow sadness.

It just means that it's time to slowly but steadily bring more energy out of this relationship from this person back to us.

Stay with this feeling of filling yourself up for a moment longer,

Taking a few more maybe even deeper breaths.

Notice that each and every breath and each and every time you might want to return to this meditation will gain you a little more power back to you,

Natural positive power that is already yours.

Stay here for as long as you like in this feeling,

In this with your breath.

When you're ready,

Which doesn't have to be the end of my voice,

Could be whenever you are ready to get up,

Maybe notice how you feel,

Maybe write some of it down and begin to go about your day,

Your evening again,

Sending love.
