Paying attention to what is pleasant by using the senses, during a walk or a stay outside in nature, is a practice in being present and open to the positive side of life. We tend to focus so much on the dark side of life, whereas life offers both. Taking time to focus on the positive helps to rebalance the brain. Opening to the good is a way to train the mind to become more receptive to that, so that it may become a bigger part of our lives.

Imagine walking down the slope.

It's early in the morning but it's sunny and warm already.

You're seeing the sun in your back,

Warming up the skin.

And you're all alone in the quietness and spaciousness of nature.

And there's a spot in the middle of this,

Well maybe you would call it a small forest.

With an open space and thick moss,

Dry moss,

Warmed up by the sun.

That is exactly the right spot for you to sit down for a moment.

Or maybe even lie down.

If you prefer,

You have a blanket carrying with you that you want to put underneath to sit up on the blanket.

Taking some time for relaxation.

Opening the senses and savouring of that which is around you.

The sense of touch,

The softness and firmness of the earth beneath you.

Maybe you can touch flowers or grass or moss that is near you.

Fresh,

Newly grown leaves on the brambles.

The leaves are so soft like velvet.

They're not blooming yet,

It's too early in the season.

But it is warm still,

Already.

The birds are enjoying the sun too,

They whistle.

All kinds of birds.

Take some time to open up your hearing.

There is a streaming water coming down the hills in small streams,

Coming together here in this open spot.

Where the sun comes in.

It makes me think of Leonard Cohen's song Ring the Bell.

There is a crack in everything.

That is how the light comes in.

It's like a natural cathedral you are sitting in or lying in.

Secluded so that we can feel protected and still an open space.

Where you can breathe the clean air.

Feel this air coming in and out of your lungs.

Feeling the temperature of it.

So it's using your senses to savour all the things that you like.

Maybe hearing an airplane,

A sound that you may dislike.

Well then,

You can notice it and leave it and bring your attention more towards what is agreeable with you.

The sounds of the birds,

Of the water.

The sense of seeing.

All the different shades of green around you.

Colours of the flowers.

Yellow,

White,

Pink.

And maybe with all of your senses open,

It can even feel too much.

So maybe close your eyes.

And just listen.

And feel.

Feel being carried.

Listening to the music of nature.

Or maybe closing your ears and opening the eyes.

And experiencing this moment.

Without hearing anything.

Just seeing.

How is that?

Can you feel the sun on your nose?

When you turn your face towards the sun.

Looking up in the sky.

The blue,

Beautiful blue sky.

Some minor clouds.

Like cotton wool.

Or like a feather.

Maybe seeing animal shapes in the clouds.

And maybe feeling this sense of relaxation.

Also in the breath.

Feeling this sigh coming up.

And allowing your body,

Your muscles to soften.

Allow yourself to just be.

For this small moment.

Just for now there is nothing you need to do.

Nowhere to go.

Just being here.

And savouring this life for just this moment.

This is important.

This time to loading your battery.

Energizing yourself.

And remember that it is not only about doing things that are urgent work.

The family taken care of.

Every day take some time to energize yourself and do what is important for you.

Every day.

So that you keep your balance.

So if you have some time left you can stay here.

And I will for now finish this moment of relaxation here.

In this open part of the forest.

Enjoy and take the intention to go through the rest of your day with a feeling of ease.

See you.

Really enjoyed this. Was actually able to envision myself in the field on my blanket touching the moss enjoying the sun. Thankyou
