After emotional activation or triggering experiences, the nervous system often needs validation before it can settle. Pushing positive thinking too quickly can increase internal tension or disconnect from what’s actually being felt. This affirmations practice focuses on nervous system safety, emotional validation, and gentle reassurance. The affirmations meet your experience with compassion rather than pressure — helping the body feel supported, grounded, and able to soften naturally. Helpful for emotional triggers, trauma recovery, self-doubt, nervous system sensitivity, inner safety building, and moments when you need soothing rather than motivation. A grounding affirmation practice rooted in self-compassion and emotional regulation.

Okay,

So something just hits you harder than you expected.

And this makes sense because a trigger or activation is your past touching your present.

It doesn't mean you're going backwards.

It means something old got stirred and you are working with it gently.

Breathe slowly in.

Breathe slowly out.

Breathe slowly in.

Breathe slowly out.

Am allowed to steady myself.

I am here for me.

In this moment,

My body is telling me that it needs some nurturing.

I am here for me.

I am here with me.

I am not this activation.

This is a part of me that's trying to keep me safe.

Right now,

I keep coming back to myself just like this.

Feeling the feeling,

Noticing the thoughts,

And gently coming back to myself by breathing in slowly and breathing out slowly.

Triggers are not signs of weakness.

They're signs of protective memory.

Here I am right now,

Breathing in slowly and breathing out slowly.

And I give my body permission to allow these residual feelings to be there until they go in their own time.

Well done for taking part in this.

Triggers are not signs of weakness.

You can come back to this for whenever you need.

This is very helpful for when triggers cause paralysis or panic attacks. I recommend it to any PTSD members out there.
