This is a meditation for couples. Reuben has designed this for you to celebrate both one another's presence, as well as enhancing the quality of your day as you go about it. Sit in a mirrored position. Be at a distance where you could easily reach out and hold each other's hands. Let go as you each get to anchor to a point of connection of your choosing. You are also guided to get closer by touching foreheads as you follow the gentle instructions. Finally, you get to explore some words to summarise this moment you have shared, and what you both mean to each other, ready for the day to unfold before you.

Welcome to this couple's meditation,

Enhancing Our Day.

What an amazing moment to celebrate.

It didn't happen by accident.

You both chose to be here,

To create this moment for yourself,

To enhance meaningful connection with yourselves.

Allow yourself to sit in a mirrored position and be at a distance where if you could both lean forward you could gently and quite comfortably touch foreheads.

You might like to just do this now and then when you're ready gently coming back again.

This is a moment for you both.

You both deserve this.

Allowing yourself to have a posture that's somewhat balanced and symmetrical and let go of any expectations.

This is all about meaningful connection and so first off as you are sitting in front of one another you've got a choice here.

You can hold a soft gaze in front of your partner's face for instance or you could hold a soft gaze that picks up the movement of your partner's breathing.

Anything,

It's up to you.

And when you've got this soft gaze you might want to just expand your awareness to absorb the fullness of the present moment.

Noticing the scope of what you can see horizontally without moving your eyes and then maintaining this soft gaze allowing your awareness to experience the scope of what you can see vertically as well.

It's a really good way of getting present and connected.

Recognizing any thoughts that come up,

Allowing them to come and go.

The mind is going to be even more curious about this meditation because even though many of us do meditate,

Not many of us do this,

What you're doing right now.

You might like to start taking attention to your out- breath.

Just your out-breath as your body breathes at its own rate and rhythm.

Of course if you notice the in-breath that's absolutely fine.

Just becoming more and more intimate with the out-breath.

So soothing.

So grounding.

Staying with that connection to the out-breath.

Where does it start?

How it speeds up,

Slows down and comes to a pause.

So now that you're here the out-breath in this moment is what matters because the more you're with this connection here,

The more refined your awareness becomes.

So as to enhance this moment of meaningful connection that you both are sharing and is evolving as you do this.

You might like to notice how the out-breath is like one unit.

One separate piece of your experience from start to finish.

What's it like to just notice the out-breath as an individual unit.

Allowing your awareness to be curious and gently tracking this movement.

Now see if you can focus on this one complete unit of the out-breath without being distracted by your mind.

And then when you do get distracted just coming back to the next separate unit.

One complete out-breath.

Relaxing.

Softening your body.

Allowing this moment to be absorbed.

Thoughts will come and go in the background whilst you stay focused on this separate unit.

Each separate unit.

And now if your eyes are closed,

Gently open them and hold a soft gaze upon your partner's face or the way they're breathing or anything that you prefer.

Finding an anchor and gently being with this whilst you stay connected to each of those separate units of the out-breath.

There's nothing else to do right now.

Nowhere else to be.

Nothing needs to be said.

You are here right now.

Softening into this moment and enhancing the connection between the both of you.

When we're connected in this way there's no better moment.

The more you release,

The more you allow,

The more you gently rest your awareness on your out-breath with your partner here doing the same thing.

Two people gently connecting.

Truly being here now.

And now what you might like to do is to notice with a conscious movement as you reach out your hands to take your partner's hands.

Feel the energy within your partner's hands.

Use this now as your main point of connection.

So shifting from the out-breath and going to your partner's hands.

Maybe you can feel the warmth or a temperature in any way.

And now taking a moment to slowly,

Very slowly lean forward into each other whilst holding your partner's hands.

Coming closer until you gently touch foreheads just like you did at the start and hold it there.

Feeling the warmth,

The energy exchange between the both of you.

Now slowly returning to the position you were before.

Open your awareness to what is surrounding you in this moment.

Opening up to this person here in front of you.

And without moving your eyes get a sense of all of your surroundings horizontally.

Maintaining this soft gaze with your partner in front of you and opening up your experience of the scope of what you can see vertically as well.

Recognizing thoughts,

Allowing them to come and go.

Staying focused and finally using your mind now to allow three words to arise within you that describes the experience you have shared with your partner.

Take a moment to reflect upon the first word that comes up.

Take a moment to reflect upon the second word that comes up.

Take a moment to reflect upon the third word that comes up.

This couples meditation enhancing our day has come to an end.
