This is a meditation calling on visualizations of perfect caregivers to provide a deep, embodied sense of safety. Drawing deeper into the sense of relational safety will help you to settle your nervous system and lay a stronger foundation for security.

Okay,

Beginning to settle in.

Either sitting cross-legged or sitting in a chair or even lying down if that's most comfortable.

Just getting yourself into a comfortable position.

Starting to bring your attention inwards and towards the breath.

And just feeling the sensation of the breath passing in and out through your nostrils.

The sensation on your nostrils as it passes in and out through your nose,

The breath.

And beginning to let each exhale be a little bit longer.

Than the exhale before it.

So with each exhale,

The breath becomes a little longer,

A little slower.

And as the breath slows down,

You become more and more calm and relaxed.

Breath slowing down.

And still alert and focused.

And hearing every word that I say.

But calm and relaxed.

And once the breath is really slowed down,

You can let go of that intention and just allow the breath to come back to normal.

And instead you can start to imagine this light floating sensation.

Like you're floating on a soft,

Warm cloud.

And this cloud,

It so perfectly supports you.

Firmly but gently supporting your legs and your back.

The back of your neck,

The back of your head.

So there is something that you can release back into.

And this cloud holds you in just the right way that you can feel really safe and secure.

Gently cradled by this soft,

Warm cloud.

Now I'm going to count from five to one.

And as I do,

This cloud will carry you off to a safe place.

A safe place that's designed just perfectly for you to feel even more safe and secure.

And you'll land there when I reach one.

Floating there as I count.

Eight.

Five.

Floating along.

Gently floating.

Safe and secure.

Two.

And one.

Landing in your safe place.

Feeling safe and secure.

Even more safe and secure.

Now imagine a scene of you growing up in this safe place as a young child.

You're a young child around two or three years of age.

And into this scene enters one or both of your ideal parent figures.

Whichever is easiest.

Whichever is easiest to imagine.

And just from the way these ideal parent figures enter into the scene,

You can feel their warm embrace of you just from their energy.

These ideal parent figures are so safe,

So caring.

They're very warm and friendly.

Yet deeply grounded and present.

And these ideal parent figures have a way of being with you.

That makes you feel so safe and secure in this attachment relationship with them.

You can take a moment to imagine them being with you in this way that makes you feel so safe and secure.

Maybe imagining a gentle,

Reassuring physical touch.

If that feels right,

To imagine their hand on your back or them holding you,

Hugging you.

Or even noticing if you don't want any physical touch and they can really recognize that and respond in just the right way.

So that they're present with you in just the right way for you to feel really cared for,

Really safe in their presence.

And these ideal parent figures,

They know just how to provide a safe environment for you.

A safe environment where you can grow and thrive.

And just as they're present with you,

They're also present of all the surroundings,

All the environment.

They're so aware of the surroundings and the environment and how to keep that safe for you that you don't need to manage anything.

You don't need to be worried or preoccupied about the environment around you or if anything might go wrong.

If there was ever any problem to take care of,

The ideal parent figures,

They take care of that problem for you.

That's not your job.

And because they're taking on the responsibility of all of this management,

You can be free to just be.

They feel so safe when you're in their presence.

Noticing how they're very protective of you,

But not overprotective.

They would never want to protect you in such a way that would inhibit your freedom.

They're just deeply present and caring in a way that makes you feel really safe and free.

Really letting in how safe that feels.

Really letting that in with your breath.

Letting that sense of safety enter a little bit more deeply into you.

Deeper into your body with your breath as it fills up your lungs and your belly.

Continuing to imagine these ideal parent figures caring for you in this way.

And if there's any part of you that still feels unsafe,

They can notice that.

They notice that something is crossing your mind.

There's something in your state of mind that you're worried about.

They have plenty of space for this.

They see that,

They recognize that in you.

And they can respond to you in just the right way so that you can feel met in that sticky feeling.

And they can reassure you that everything's okay.

It's all gonna be all right.

It's all gonna be all right.

Really letting that in.

Noticing how happy these ideal parent figures are to be caring for you in this way.

This is what they're here for.

Really letting that in.

Noticing how this feels in your body.

I'm going to count from five to one.

When I reach one,

You'll be awake and present in the room,

Settling in that experience.

And you can carry this feeling of safety with you into the present room.

Five,

Four,

Three,

Two,

One.

Awake and present in the room.

And settling in that experience.
