
Deep Somatic Trauma Healing With Layers

In this guided somatic healing practice we bring support to the heart, adrenals, brainstem, and ankles. We then include the four major systems of the body: the skin, fascia, muscles, and bones. This brings in a deep sense of settling to the body and to the nervous system. This practice is deeply healing for trauma and anxiety and helps to shift the set point of the nervous system over time. So finding a comfortable place to sit or preferably to lay down.
And then if it's comfortable,
Just allowing your eyes to close.
And then beginning just to become aware of your breath.
No need to change the breath,
Just noticing what your breath is doing.
And then knowing that all your parts are welcome here.
Everything about you is welcome.
The youngest parts of you and your adult parts.
That may just want to be quiet and parts that may want to let you know things.
Everything about you is welcome.
And if there's any kind of support that you'd like to call in for your healing,
Feel free to do that.
It could be something from nature,
A tree,
Or an animal friend,
Or an ancestor.
Anything you like.
So we're going to begin to open the heart and we'll come to the top of the left shoulder and the top of the right hip bone.
Just inviting any amount of opening that might want to happen at the heart.
Left shoulder,
Right hip bone.
That's it,
Just allowing for some softening that might happen here.
Left shoulder,
Right hip bone,
We're just crossing the heart.
And then we'll really gently switch sides.
We'll come to the top of the right shoulder and the top of the left hip bone.
And we're still just right here at the heart,
Just crossing in the other direction.
Right shoulder,
Left hip bone.
Yeah,
That's it,
Just allowing your body knows exactly what to do here.
Just making more space for you.
Supporting the heart,
Here the lungs,
The chest,
And even the thymus gland just a little below the clavicle bone underneath the breastbone.
All right,
So now let's just gently make our way down to your right adrenal gland.
It's sitting right on top of your right kidney.
It's just a little bit above the waist at your back body.
And the adrenal gland is about the size of a quarter and on this right side,
It's a little bit like a tiny pyramid shape.
And we're just going to focus on bringing support to the right adrenal gland.
Focusing on the right adrenal gland.
Yeah,
Maybe allowing it to rest down on the kidney.
Kind of like a turtle that's sunbathing,
Just resting on a rock.
That turtle knows that rock is right there supporting it.
So that kidney is right underneath the adrenal,
Right there,
Always supporting.
Focusing on the right adrenal gland.
The liver is close by here,
As well as the gallbladder.
The kidney,
The right diaphragm,
Yeah,
And they're all working together to support you.
That adrenal gland helps keep you safe,
Keep you ready.
The kidney keeps you healthy.
So just bringing that care to the right adrenal gland,
Maybe even sending a ray of gratitude or appreciation to it.
It works so hard all your life to keep you safe.
Yeah,
That's it.
Focusing on the right adrenal gland.
All right,
So just taking your time here.
When you feel ready,
We're going to head over to the left adrenal gland.
So it's sitting right on top of your left kidney.
Little bit like a half moon shape on this side.
It's right at the back body there,
Just a small amount above the waist.
We're just going to bring our focus to the left adrenal gland.
Just bringing that care there.
The pancreas is close by,
Creating those wonderful digestive enzymes that go to the stomach.
And the stomach is close by,
The spleen,
Which supports our immune system,
The left diaphragm.
Of course,
They all work together to support you.
Focusing on the left adrenal gland.
You might notice a little bit more space coming into your back body here.
As those adrenals start to settle.
Sometimes there's some little twitches or some little waves of energy going through the spine.
And you might not notice anything at all.
And it's all good,
What we're doing is working,
Whether you notice it or not.
Focusing on the left adrenal gland.
Maybe even allowing some healing light or healing energy to come right in there.
Whatever works for you is good.
Focusing on the left adrenal gland.
All right,
So just taking your time here.
We're going to come to the place on your spine,
Right where your adrenal glands and kidneys meet,
Right in the middle there.
And then we're just really gently going to make our way all the way up to the very top of the spinal cord,
Right where it meets the brain.
This is the brain stem.
This is the center of the autonomic nervous system that developed really early on in the womb.
And so we're going to bring our focus there.
And it's that soft area at the base of your skull just deep in right in the middle there,
It's where the head sits on the body,
The atlas or the fornum magnum is right there.
Yeah,
That's it.
Focusing on the brain stem.
And just knowing whatever is happening in your body is exactly what's meant to happen right now.
Your body knows how to heal itself.
It wants to heal.
We're just bringing that support for your healing.
Yeah,
Focusing on the brain stem.
You might notice your jaws starting to soften a little bit at those hinges.
You may notice the tongue at the back of the throat starting to soften.
Sometimes a little more saliva comes into the mouth.
So just allowing the brain stem to soften or expand here.
And again,
There's really nothing that you need to do.
We're just allowing.
Focusing on the brain stem.
Sometimes the throat starts to open up here,
The chest starts to open up,
Even the thymus.
Yeah,
Sometimes there's some gurgling in the tummy as that peristalsis comes online.
We have that whole second brain there in the stomach,
The gut brain.
So focusing on the brain stem.
Yeah.
We're connecting with the vagus nerve here that goes to just about every organ in the body.
Lighting up those organs.
All right,
So just taking your time here now,
We're going to gently begin to head down to the backs of your ankles.
And just allowing those ankles to open,
The ankles are gateways or portals.
And just allowing those hinges to open.
And then allowing this energy just to move right through all the way out through your ankles and then out through the soles of your feet.
Back to the earth,
Back to source where it can transform in the earth.
And this energy might bring with it any survival energy that's not needed right now.
It could be any excess energy you don't need.
It might bring something negative with it.
It could even be something positive that you're holding on to that you don't need right now.
Or maybe something that's not yours that was never yours.
So just allowing this healing energy to come down through the crown of your head.
Just slowly coming down through your midline there,
Just down through your brain and through your face,
Your throat.
Yeah,
Down through your chest,
Your abdomen,
All the way down through your pelvis and hips,
Down to your thighs and knees,
Calves,
Shins,
All the way down through those ankles.
And then out through the soles of your feet,
Down your arms,
Maybe down and out through your hands,
Your fingers,
Through your fingertips.
We'll just be open to any and all possibilities of how energy may want to move through and out the body,
Bringing with it anything it doesn't need,
Anything it's ready to let go of.
Yeah,
That's it,
Supporting at the backs of the ankles.
You might notice some warmth,
There tingling in your lower legs,
Your feet or other places in your body.
Sometimes there's some little waves of energy you might notice.
And again,
You also might notice nothing at all and that's all good.
Yeah.
Supporting at the backs of the ankles,
Allowing for flow.
All right,
So we're going to work a little bit with layers now.
We're going to work with all four systems of the body,
The skin layer,
The fascia layer,
The muscle layer,
And the bone layer.
And this tends to be very settling.
Yeah,
And we hold stuff in all four of those layers.
So just picking a place on your body,
Maybe your thigh or you'll place your hand or you could place a hand on your forearm.
Either place would work.
And we're going to focus right underneath that area.
And we're going to go through those layers.
And as we do just know we're working with the entire skin layer as we're focusing under where your hand is.
So coming to your thigh with one hand or coming to your forearm.
And we'll start in a resting place.
So now coming to the skin,
We're going to support the skin.
Now coming underneath the skin to the fascia,
Supporting the fascia.
And then coming underneath the fascia to the muscle.
Muscle has a little bit of a juicy quality to it.
And then coming underneath the muscle to the bone.
The bone has a bit of a hard crusty quality to it.
Supporting the bone.
And then we'll rest.
And then coming back to the skin.
And now coming to the fascia,
Fascia has a little bit more of a sticky quality or sometimes a pins and needle quality to it.
Coming to the muscle.
And now going to the bone.
And then resting.
Coming to the skin.
And now to the fascia.
And now to the muscle.
And now to the bone.
And then resting.
And now we'll move into about a minute of a healing silence together before we close this healing practice together.
So just resting in a healing silence will allow what we did today just to integrate and titrate into your system.
Okay.
And then just taking your time.
Whenever you feel ready,
You can go ahead and open your eyes.

Deeply healing and relaxing. I love adding Insight timer’s background music to your tracks. It helps me to kind of float in the space between your words. For this one, I added “moonlight”, and it was blissful! **When you play a meditation, click the musical note at the bottom of the play screen. Then you can add in background music and even adjust the volume of it.❤️

This somatic practice is very relaxing and grounding for me. I have used it several times when I am feeling irritable or on edge. Within the first few minutes I am having deep full body yawns with much tension release. Soothing pleasant voice. Definitely one of my favorites. 🪷❤️🙏
