Qi Breathing is a breathing practice that comes from Yi Jin Jing,

A form of Qigong.

It's a deep healing practice.

You're going to take a double inhale through the nose like this,

Then a double exhale through the mouth with pursed lips making a sound.

So it will sound like this.

As best as possible,

Invite your breath into your belly as you do this.

We will do three rounds of 30 breaths and in between each round we will hold the breath out.

So on an exhale,

While we focus on a part of the mind or body that needs healing.

Make sure your body is relaxed as you hold the breath out.

I'll be reminding you of this.

And I'll give space for up to one minute of breath hold.

If you need to breathe in before this time,

That's okay.

Just allow the natural breath to arrive before I guide you on to the next round.

Let's start by taking two cleansing breaths.

Now,

Let's begin.

So,

Final breath.

Now take an easy breath in,

Easy breath out,

And hold your breath out up to one minute.

If you need to breathe in before one minute,

That's totally okay.

Just allow the breath to arrive.

Just allow yourself to soften your shoulders,

Soften your belly,

Soften your jaw,

And bring your awareness to a part of your mind or body that needs healing.

30 more seconds.

Relax the body.

Now,

If you haven't already,

Take a deep breath in,

And deep breath out.

And then we'll begin the next round again.

So,

Last breath.

Now take an easy breath in,

Easy breath out,

Easy breath in,

Easy breath out,

And hold your breath out for up to one minute.

Bring your awareness to a part of your mind or body that needs healing.

Soften your shoulders,

Soften your belly,

Soften your jaw,

And surrender into this pause.

Beautiful.

Now,

If you haven't already,

Take a big breath in,

Big breath out,

And let's begin the final round together.

So,

Last breath.

Now take an easy breath in,

Easy breath out,

Easy breath in,

Easy breath out,

And hold your breath out for up to one minute.

Bring all your awareness to a part of your mind or body that needs healing.

Soften your shoulders,

Your jaw,

Your belly.

Surrender into this pause.

Beautiful.

Now,

Take a deep breath in if you haven't already.

Return to your natural breathing.

Now visualize you're sat in a sea of white light,

Of healing energy.

You can't see it,

But you can feel it.

Imagine this energy is all around you,

And everything it touches,

It heals.

This sea of healing energy.

Now imagine all of the pores and cells of your body open up,

And this white light,

Healing energy comes pouring into your body,

Touching not only your skin,

But your muscles,

Tendons,

Bones,

Organs,

And cells.

Replenishing,

Revitalizing,

Rejuvenating your entire body.

Just stay there,

Breathing.

Allowing your body to be healed and to be restored.

Wow. I couldn’t have designed a better practice! It has the exact right (minimal) amount of introduction and explanation, and the visualization was long enough to feel effective, but short enough to fit into a before-work practice. It included a mention of the number of breaths and the amount of time the breath hold will be, which I find helpful, as I often count down to stay focused. Also, it was a breath pattern that was new to me — I thought I’d tried everything over the years — so it was great to learn! Thank you so much! 🙏

I absolutely loved this. It's the first time I've done any breath work meditation. I will be saving this lesson and exploring your others. Thank you so much for your effort.

I’ve been doing this practice first thing in the morning and have felt the benefit with my breathing and lungs feeling more open. Thank you 🌸
