Anchoring support through shifting times.

Feeling uprooted yet tethered to something meaningful,

Real and sourced from love.

How do we anchor when everything seems to be pulling us apart?

Welcome yourself to this Yoga Nidra practice.

My name is Rachel and I am here to guide you today.

As you prepare your mind and body for this meditation,

Can you offer yourself a sense of permission for what support may be wanting to come through for you today?

This practice is an open call or prayer for receiving the support you need most in your life right now.

And a reminder that support is continuously accompanying you in this life.

Settle the body,

Placing it on a soft and warm surface.

You may wish to be covered by a blanket with something light to place over the eyes.

Support starts with your immediate environment.

How you choose to position yourself and the things around you.

Notice the balance in the body from left to right,

Front to back.

Are you resting evenly?

Can you adjust so that the body feels almost perfectly held in its own support?

Something merging into this blurry coherence of the whole body being held.

Gently peeling the layers back to reveal the courage needed to ask your heart what it wishes for you to experience during this practice today.

Giving yourself the permission to receive in the most loving and innocent of ways.

All the ways support can show up in our lives is a true blessing.

Whether it's from a look in somebody's eyes,

A gentle hand,

Words spoken true,

Symbols and signs,

Sensations and visuals.

We are constantly surrounded by this unspoken robe of support.

We are never truly alone.

As you get a little more present with the body,

Feel the weight drop into your back body.

Lightness evaporate from the front body and a fuzzy warm edge around the circumference of your skin.

Now count the ways in which you feel supported right now.

Feeling them as you repeat them silently to yourself.

The body becoming more and more inviting to rest into.

Now arrive at your lungs as you feel a breath fill the pillows of your lungs.

Feel the breath empty all the way out.

Feel up on breath again as you inhale.

Moving your awareness to in between your lungs.

Focusing in on your heart lovingly supported by the soft pillows of your lungs.

The heart is supported by the joyous aliveness of your breath.

The meditative pulse of breath protecting the whole heart.

Even more so now,

Drop into the heart space.

The endless gift of feeling at home.

Pour sensations of gratitude into your heart space.

Use all than any impressions of gratitude to fill yourself up with this felt sense.

The heart becoming so full it begins to spill over into the lungs.

Invigorating your breath with an immense dose of gratitude.

Follow the next few rounds of breath as you cycle gratitude through the whole breathing experience and into the whole body.

We now enter the practice of yoga nidra.

You may be working with sankalpa and if you are,

Now is the time for you to awaken your statement of desire by whispering it into your grateful heart.

If you are unfamiliar of sankalpa,

You can think of it as a statement of support born from the deep desire of your heart.

What is it that you long to feel beyond the surface,

Yet deep into the yearning of your soul?

For some,

The statement,

I am loved,

Is a powerful sankalpa.

Or the statement,

I am worthy.

Though for today you may wish to play with the statement,

I am supported.

In your own time you may come up with your own entirely personal statement,

Which feels like coming home every time it is spoken.

When you feel you have found your statement for today,

Repeat it silently three times to yourself,

Doing your best to feel each word as it manifests through the heart and into the body.

We will now move awareness through the physical body,

Landing and grounding our whole self into each area of the body as a source of support.

We will start in the heart space as we have already established a connection here today.

Land with full presence in your heart space and silently whisper to yourself,

I am here into the heart space.

Settle in for a reassuring response,

Acknowledging your presence here.

Notice what that response feels like.

What support is being offered to you from the heart space?

Now drop into the solar plexus,

Two to three inches below the heart.

Calmly whisper,

I am here into the solar plexus.

Listening intently for assurance of your full presence here.

What does it feel like here?

How is the solar plexus supporting you?

Now move down the torso another three to four inches into the midpoint of the pelvis.

Repeat,

I am here as many times as you need until you feel the support from your pelvis rising to meet you right at the midpoint.

Sense how this regenerative space gives endless support.

You'll drop another two to three inches into the pelvic floor,

The seat of the pelvis.

Renew the words,

I am here into this space.

You may sense yourself letting go here,

Only to be met with an almighty sense of being held,

Protected and fully grounded.

Your being in this space and how it emerges through you.

Carry this grounding down into both legs,

Down into the ankles and feet,

Encompassing the entire lower extremities.

And as you do so,

Greeting each part with a gentle,

I am here.

I am here.

I am here.

As you welcome the support from your lower extremities,

Follow from the feet up and around the circumference of the body to the crown of the head.

Hover as you whisper,

I am here into the crown of the head.

Notice the presence of support pouring down into the crown of the head.

What does this influx of support feel like?

Descend your awareness one to two inches into the space between the eyebrows.

Now borrow your awareness into the center of the head and echo,

I am here.

Notice what happens as you land fully in the midbrain.

Perhaps a vision of support surges up and out through the third eye.

What can you see?

Feel from the midbrain to mid throat,

The bridge between head and body.

Proclaim I am here,

Softly into the center of the throat.

Feel the echoes rebound within the cylinder of the throat.

What sense of support is being spoken to you here?

From this midpoint of the throat,

Follow down into both shoulders,

Down the lengths of both arms,

Into both hands,

Acknowledging each part with I am here as you enter them.

Notice the many ways in which your upper extremities support and aid you in this life.

Select by part,

Begin to piece all these bodily areas of support together into your felt experience.

Like sewing a quilt,

Each square inch of you is an epicenter for unconditional support.

Each part unique with the nurture they bring.

Just as each square of a quilt is lovingly stitched together,

Creating a beautiful blanket of love,

Memories and protection.

Sense this weaving together of all the parts of you that lovingly bring the whole of you into existence.

Unique and utterly whole.

Symbiotic with the tapestry of the universe.

Even if a square gets tatty or ripped,

New threads will arrive to stitch it back together.

The integrity of the quilt is always watched over and mended when needed.

The body works in similar ways and when we are in need of a little extra support,

We call on all of the external systems of support to have our backs.

Now in a visionary state,

Call forth and visualise your external support systems.

Whether that be other beings,

Animals,

Guides,

Objects,

Memories or feeling states.

As you feel them entering your visionary world,

Allow them to appear as big balloons tied to ribbon.

As each rounded balloon floats down to you from the cosmos,

You gently wrap the end of the ribbon around your wrist.

Each balloon represents support that you are always connected to,

Helping you feel lighter and lighter as each balloon eases your load,

Taking on the weight of any worries.

You begin to feel so light,

You lift away from any negativities or hurt,

Completely supported by this network of balloons.

The body as a blanket of support,

The balloons as unconditional protection.

You feel tethered to your loving support in awe of their constant presence,

No matter how uprooted you may become.

Offer yourself that permission now to be fully supported in all the ways your heart is wanting for you.

Gently begin to whisper your sankalpa into the heart,

Feeling it illuminate the heart and then echo throughout each part of the body,

Imprinting on each layer of support.

The bridge between you and the love of the universe begins to feel so close,

So intertwined,

So a part of each other.

Wherever you drift off to,

You will always be anchored with support.

The practice of yoga nidra is now complete.

Enter into the heart once again,

Drop in and watch for a breath to fill the soft pillows around the heart.

Fall back even deeper and breathe out with a letting go of any residue of feeling uprooted and rest into your gratefully filled lungs.

Be with your whole self here for as long as you need.

Whatever comes,

You are fully supported.

When you are ready,

Lift your body away from the ground,

Feeling that invisible support internally and externally.

Thank you for practicing with me today.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
