The lost dream space is part 2 of my wintering series, however it can also be listened to at anytime you wish to connect with your inner dreamer. Designed to invite the lost dreams within us to emerge and integrate in the present. Sometimes we find ourselves feeling stuck or unable to imagine another way, here we can dream ourselves into our desired future.

Welcome to the Wintering Series by Rachel Brownbridge.

If you are new here,

This meditation is part two of a three-part series.

However,

As always,

If you are here now,

This is the perfect time for you.

Today's encounter with hibernation is an ode to Tricia Hersey's writing,

From Rest is Resistance.

Her book reaches deep into humanness and floods our imaginations with wandering awe of the wild and all-encompassing link between rest and liberation for all beings.

Today,

You are resting for your humanness.

Can you release any holds that make rest at all for more productivity?

Today,

You are resting for your humanness.

Reclaim your body by laying it down to rest,

By gathering what you need to feel held,

Warm,

And safe.

If you are laying back,

Find the connection between the ground and your sacrum,

The ground and your shoulder blades,

The ground and the very back of your skull,

And then allow gravity to sink into these three broadening areas.

Can you imagine your body softening feelings of protection and belonging that your body recognizes and surrenders gratefully into?

There is no question that you belong here right now,

That rest is here for you right now.

Can you find the part of you that accepts that rest is your divine right?

And if not,

Can you imagine a world where you are never tired from lack of rest?

Rest is built into you,

It comes naturally to you,

It's part of who you are.

You are a rested being,

You live from a rested body and mind.

Allow yourself to be carried away by the felt experience of deep and healing rest.

There is so much gold for us to find in the darkness of rest.

Allow this series of meditations to be a balm or salve to which you apply tenderly to your body and spirit in those moments where all there is to do is rest and receive.

When you are ready to begin,

Gently whisper to yourself,

I am practicing yoga nidra and that is enough.

Allow the ears to seek out the gentle sounds of your breath,

The inner touch of the coolness of air embracing your nostrils and the warming release acknowledges the transformation of breath.

Our bodies are designed to receive and give back,

They know exactly what we need and give back what we do not to support and nourish the ecosystem we are forever enmeshed with.

Welcome and surrender into the intelligence of the body,

Letting the breath become the leader of your rest journey today.

As the belly softens,

The spine elongates into the earth,

The ribcage doming as the container where the heart rests within.

Imagine the shape,

Warmth and texture of your heart.

What colour do you see?

Are the walls are the walls silky and soft?

Can you sense the power and strength of your beating heart?

Every part of your body receives blood from your heart,

All except the corneas of the eyes.

Instead of the blood nourishing and protecting them,

Our tears provide this role.

Tears and blood are the poetic nourishment for our body and soul.

As your eyes are softly closed,

Welcoming protection and renewal,

Let us bring our awareness within the heart space,

Using our internal focus to nourish and renew our heart.

What message would you lace your blood with to carry into the heart for nourishment and protection?

What desire is your heart aching for?

This message to the heart could be the words of your sankalpa.

It could also be a short phase or sentence that drifts into your consciousness like a wave onto the shore.

If or when you feel the words have arrived,

You can speak them silently to yourself,

Sending it as a message to be travelled through the whole body by blood to your heart.

Our beings feel most nourished when things are in flow.

Flow encourages things to keep moving at a steady pace,

Not rushing and not idling.

Flow is constant,

At ease,

Not overwhelming,

But just enough.

Winter is the opportunity to find our flow in being enough,

Just as we are.

Even at a slower pace,

Flow still exists and carries us forward in steady momentum.

What if we were never meant to go fast?

Finding our flow comes down to exploring that which exists within the stillness.

As we move through areas of the body,

Sensing and exploring the journey of blood that floods each part of us,

Pumped generously by our hearts,

Every heartbeat expels around 60ml of blood around the body.

See if you can connect with what's moving within,

The intelligence of your body,

In steady action.

If we stretched out all the blood vessels in the human body,

It can be as long as 106,

000km and can circle the earth 2.

5 times.

Travelling within is an epic journey.

Feel into the space where your heart resides.

Again,

Imagine its shape,

Colour,

Texture,

The movement it makes as it beats.

For a moment,

Just imagine the circulation of blood from within the heart.

The blood leaving the heart,

And the blood entering back into the heart.

All navigated through four valves that open and close,

With such precision and intelligence.

Arteries carry the oxygenated blood from the heart around our body.

And that is what we will follow today.

Passengers on an inner ride,

Feel from the heart and travel into the right shoulder.

Traverse generously down the right arm,

Into the wrist,

Spreading out through the palm of the hand,

Into each finger and thumb.

Sense back to the heart,

And travel out into the right side of your chest,

Abdomen,

Right side of the pelvis.

Navigating around bony structures,

Organs and tissues,

Feeding into everything as you pass by.

Follow the flow into the right hip,

Down into the leg,

Knee and ankle.

Disperse into the right foot,

Following each pathway into the toes and toe tips.

Trace the flow of blood from heart to the whole right side of the body.

Whole right side,

Nourished with warm,

Oxygenated blood.

Sense back to the heart,

And travel into the left shoulder now.

Traverse generously down the left arm,

Into the wrist,

Spreading through the palm of the hand,

Into each finger and thumb.

From the heart,

Travels out into the left side of the chest,

Abdomen,

Left side of the pelvis.

Navigating around the bony structures,

Organs and tissues,

Feeding into everything as you pass by.

Follow the flow into the left hip,

Down into the leg,

Knee and ankle.

Disperse into the left foot,

Following each pathway into the toes and toe tips.

Trace the flow of blood from heart to the whole left side of the body.

Whole left side,

Nourished with warm,

Oxygenated blood.

From the heart,

Follow the flow up into the neck,

Dividing at the base of the head to travel up the sides of the head,

Back of the head,

Across and down the forehead,

Around and through the ears,

Through the right and left cheek,

Both eyes,

The whole nose,

Lips,

Mouth,

Chin.

Feel the whole face,

Alive and flowing,

Spreading into the whole face and whole head,

Nourishing and bringing warmth into the whole head,

Your whole neck and chest,

Both arms,

Whole upper body,

Pelvis,

Hips and legs,

Feet,

Connecting within,

Letting every part of you flow freely,

The whole body,

Whole body,

Whole body,

Whole body,

All is welcome.

Feel the movement of your next breath,

Expand within the whole body,

That steady flow bringing the whole body to life.

Feel the gentle exhale,

Contract through the whole body,

Landing back to the centre of the heart.

Inhale expands outwards through the layers of the body,

Exhale contracts inwards through the layers of the body.

Inhale all from the tiny centre of the heart,

Expand your awareness and contract your awareness,

Expand,

Contract,

Breathe in,

Breathe out,

With the breath as background,

Imagine a flow of heat throughout the body,

Heat and warmth spreading out to the edges of your skin.

What does heat and warmth feel like?

Now feel the reverse of this flow,

Experiencing it as coldness through the body,

Moving from the edges inwards,

Experience coldness through the body as you release that experience and come back to the neutral breath.

Now experience messiness,

A sense of mess and chaos.

What does this feel like?

How do you experience mess?

Can you release and embrace emptiness,

The abundance of space and clarity?

What comes up when you feel empty?

Release that experience and find your way back to the neutral breath.

Now feel and experience tightness,

Contraction,

Contraction,

Notice what's happening as you experience tightness and contraction.

Can you replace with a huge expression of release,

Letting go,

Softening,

Releasing If you wish to remain in your rested space,

Please do so for as long as you need.

If you feel ready,

Find an upright and comfortable position.

You may close your practice with a long inhale through the nose,

Filling all the way up,

And a sigh of exhale out through the mouth.

Do this as many times as you need,

Opening your eyes when you're ready,

And orientating yourself back.

Thank you for practicing with me.

Have a wonderful day.

Right to sleep ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™ Wow, Iโ€™m so happy I found you. Looking at your tracks and courses I get excited and want to do them all. Then I remember to rest :). Thanks for offering the wintering series. I live in a normally cold place but this year hasnโ€™t been much of a winter and my system misses the cloudy, snowy, relaxing days.

Just beautiful. I am so rested. Thank you for this series; I didn't end up doing them in order due to the way they were released on the platform yet enjoyed the benefits of them each individually. Thank you, Rachel.

Rachel, thank you. You never cease to delight me and amaze me. That Nidra took me to new places, new dimensions , new awareness that were so peaceful yet so magnificent. Your gift to interpret those traditional Nidra steps in such unique ways is truly unsurpassable. So beautiful is the way you conduct awareness of the body through awareness of the circulatory aspect of its ecosystem. And how you lead me to my field of dreams, then so gently back to my physical existence. So rich, so amazing. I always look forward to practicing your Nidras but this even surpasses your other creationsโ€ฆ..I canโ€™t wait to practice this one again. Thank you.
