Yoga Nidra ~ Inner Voice
In this Yoga Nidra practice, we're exploring connecting to the inner voice or truth-teller within. That place inside that already knows and is in flow with wholeness. Blessings to you as you dip into the deep. With Love, Sheena
Transcript
What if all of this is for you?
The beauty and joy,
The connection,
And the parts of you you've been hiding.
All of the fear and hurt stuffed down into the depths inside.
What if that hurt was for you too?
In this practice of Yoga Nidra,
You are invited to stay with what arises.
To sense and to feel.
The stuff we think we're hiding inevitably comes out in one way or another.
The shadow that hasn't been integrated arises in our lives as addiction,
As projection.
It comes out in our most intimate relationships and in one way or another it will be expressed.
As we allow,
Feel,
And see the depths of the shadow in a state of non-reactivity,
We tap into the power available to transform.
Being open with what arises.
Prepare yourself for the practice of Yoga Nidra in a quiet space where you'll be undisturbed for the next 35 minutes.
Support your body with a pillow under your head and a pillow under the backs of your knees.
Cover your body with a blanket.
Even place a blanket over your hips or hands for extra weight.
Cover your eyes with an eye pillow or a scarf.
Breathe in deeply and aim to mobilize your diaphragm.
The space inside your low ribs.
Feel your belly rise and fall with each breath cycle.
Deeply breathing in and out.
This breath can initiate the entrance of the conscious mind into the feeling body.
Begin to scan through your experience.
Notice objectively if you're feeling at ease and relaxed.
Notice if there's anywhere in your body that feels spacious,
Open,
And pleasurable.
Notice if there's any action taking place in the thinking mind.
If there are any thoughts flowing now.
And notice if there's anywhere in your body where physical tension is present.
Use this information to set an inner intention for the practice.
Perhaps if you're feeling relaxed you might set an intention to stay awake.
If you notice exhaustion in your system you might set an intention to sleep if needed.
If you notice agitation or tension you could set an intention to pay attention to feeling.
And give yourself permission to be with it all.
Be with whatever is there.
And settle into stillness.
Sense your body being supported by your props,
Pillows,
And blankets.
Take a deep breath in through your nose.
A slow exhale out through your mouth.
One more time,
Breathe in through your nose.
And exhale out of your mouth as you enter into stillness.
And the practice of yoga nidra begins now.
Orient your attention to the easy flow of your breath.
Release hold of the breath and feel the natural movement of the breath flowing in and out.
And notice the waves of the breath in the whole front of your body.
The breath moving in and out of your nose and feeling your whole face,
Neck,
The front of your torso.
And feeling the fronts of your legs.
Let the whole front of your body become sensitive to feel the breath.
And place your awareness into the space between the front of your body and the ceiling.
Sense and perceive the distance between the front of your body and the ceiling.
Notice any energy flowing between your body and the ceiling.
And now as you exhale,
Feel the effect of gravity in the space.
Receive and allow the feeling of gravity to wash over the front of your body.
Become so sensitive to gravity.
And then with your next exhale,
Release the energy of the front of your body down into the whole back of your body.
Laying the energy of the front body to rest into the back of your body.
Track the back of your body.
Receive the ebb and flow of the breath.
Feel the breath in the back of the body.
And give permission to the fabric of the back of the body to open up.
And sense the support rising from the earth,
From the ground below you.
As you exhale,
Give in to the ground's ability to hold you.
Receive the breath as if it was rising from the ground through your back and into your heart.
Stretch the breath out just a little as you send it into the heart.
The heart breathing in all directions.
Feel the walls of the physical heart widening.
And the non-physical space of the heart expanding as you arrive to the inner truth teller.
The inner sanctuary and the doorway to the soul.
It's now time to connect to your Senkelpa.
Through your heart,
Connect to something that you know is true.
Even if you don't always feel it or live in it day to day.
A truth that is ready to be walked on the earth in your bones,
In your thoughts.
Connect to an I am statement that is true for you.
Like I am love.
I am allowed.
Pick one that has the truest resonance.
Like a tuning fork.
Repeat the I am statement inside of your mind three times.
Let its vibration take root in your body.
Feel it in your body and become it now.
Release the words.
What is true will inevitably become.
Move your awareness through your physical body.
Begin in the inside of the mouth.
Feel and sense the whole inside of your mouth.
The roof of the mouth.
Inner right cheek.
Inner left cheek.
The floor of the mouth.
The back of the mouth.
The whole tongue.
Locate the center of your brain.
Sense and feel the whole center of your brain.
Travel from the center of the brain through the inner right ear channel and the inner left ear channel.
Feel the outer right ear and the outer left ear.
Go from the outer ears back to the center of the brain.
The space behind the right eye.
The space behind the left eye.
The right eyeball resting in the socket.
The left eyeball resting in the socket.
The left eyelid.
Space between the eyebrows.
Travel along the eyebrows from inner brows to the outer.
Then flow from both outer cheekbones to the inner cheekbones.
The bridge of the nose.
Outer right nostril.
Outer left nostril.
The whole right cheek.
The whole left cheek.
Upper lip.
Lower lip.
Center of the chin.
Center of the jaw.
Center of the throat.
Center of the chest.
Prepare now to flow through the right side of the body.
Begin by landing in the palm of the right hand.
Right hand thumb.
Center finger.
Middle finger.
Ring finger.
Small finger.
Back of the right hand.
Wrist.
Lower arm.
Elbow.
Upper arm.
Right armpit.
Right side of the rib cage.
Waist.
Right side pelvis.
Upper leg.
Knee.
Lower leg.
Top of the right foot.
Bottom of the foot.
Feel five right toes.
Feel the whole right side of the body.
Whole foot,
Leg,
Side,
And arm together.
All the bones,
Muscle,
And tissue on the right side.
Flow to land in the palm of the left hand.
Left hand thumb.
Pointer finger.
Middle finger.
Ring finger.
Small finger.
Back of the left hand.
Wrist.
Lower arm.
Elbow.
Upper arm.
Left armpit.
Side of the rib cage.
Waist.
Left side of the pelvis.
Upper leg.
Knee.
Lower leg.
Top of the left foot.
Bottom of the foot.
All five toes on the left side.
Feel the whole left side of the body.
Left foot,
Leg,
Side,
Arm.
All the bones,
Muscle,
And tissue on the left side of the body.
Land in the soles of both feet.
Travel up the backs of both legs.
Now right side of the back.
Left side of the back.
Whole spine.
Back of the neck.
Back of the head.
Crown of the head.
Land in the crown of the head.
Enter now to the organs and tissue of the inner body.
Sense the right hemisphere of the brain.
The left hemisphere of the brain.
Both hemispheres together.
All of the gray matter,
The pathways of connection of the brain.
Flow down into the throat.
Connect to the thyroid gland.
A butterfly-shaped gland in the front inner throat.
Just below the Adam's apple.
Pass through the heart.
Touch the inner belly.
Land fully to feel the bones of the pelvis.
Condense awareness into the bones of the pelvis.
And sense all the soft tissue of the pelvis.
Reproductive organs.
Ligaments.
Muscles.
The whole pelvis,
Bones and tissues.
Expand from your pelvis to fill your entire body with presence.
Each point of the body illuminated and felt.
Whole body.
Then zoom back in to feel just the pelvis again.
Just the pelvis.
And expand your awareness back out to feel the whole body at once.
Whole body awareness.
Return to the flowing breath that is breathing you.
Notice the parts of the physical body that the breath touches directly.
Inside the nose,
Throat and lungs.
The ribs moving.
Then notice the parts that the energy of the breath touches.
Crown,
Face,
Abdomen,
Arms,
Hands,
Legs and feet.
Condense attention back into the space of the throat.
Sense the breath passing through the throat.
And the non-physical space of the throat opening.
See a light in the throat.
With each breath the light glowing more clearly.
The energy of the throat increasing.
As you exhale move the energy of the throat down to the womb space.
The lower belly.
This can be a physical womb or the imprint of the womb existing in all human bodies.
Inhale the light from the womb back to the throat.
And exhale from throat to down to womb.
Move the light with each breath cycle up and down.
From womb to throat and throat to womb.
The energy between throat and womb growing stronger.
Inhaling and exhaling to sense the connection growing stronger.
Let the light land in the space of the womb.
And sense down deep into the earth below.
Sense as far as you can into the earth.
As you exhale,
Exhale the light from low belly down through your pelvis.
And down deep and deep into the earth as far down as you can sense.
Inhale the earth all the way back up.
The light moving from the depth of the earth back into your womb.
And exhaling from womb down deep into the earth.
Move and receive the breath from earth to your womb.
And womb low belly to earth.
The connection growing stronger.
The light growing stronger with each passing breath.
Breathing with the earth.
With the next exhale,
Leave the light buried deep into the earth.
Move your attention back into your body.
Stretch it out to feel the layer of your skin.
Sense all of the skin.
Notice the energy of your breath in your skin.
And how the pores of the skin open like a screen window.
And breathe in.
Breath passing through the skin easily like a breeze flowing through an open window.
Energy passing easily from the inside to the out.
From the outside in.
Flowing through all the subtle rivers of energy in the arms and the legs.
And the whole central channel of the chakras opening up.
The pranic body awakened and experienced.
Spreading out.
Sensing as far as the energy body touches.
Remain open and prepare to observe tendencies in the mind.
You don't have to create anything.
Simply remain neutral inside and see what arises.
Whatever arises is now available for you to see and feel.
Remember the intention you set at the beginning of the practice.
Ask the inner mind and body to show you the energy of any addictions.
Any addictions to negative ways of thinking.
To substances,
To people.
Ask the body to show you the energy of any addictions that are ready to be noticed and seen.
Notice if images or thoughts come to mind.
If there are any sensations in the body.
How does addiction feel in the body?
If you can get closer and closer to the feeling.
Letting yourself really be with the sensations of addiction.
Follow the sensations as they might shift or change.
If they take on a color or a shape.
If they travel or transform.
The energy of addiction allowed to be seen.
Release and pause back in the dark space between your closed eyes.
You're safe and present in this moment.
Ask the inner mind and body to connect now to the experience of allowance.
Allowance.
Fully allowing things to be exactly as they are.
Awaken allowance of mind and body.
Allowance for you to be exactly as you are.
And for others to be exactly as they are.
Notice if any images arise.
Any feeling as you connect to allowance.
Get closer to the energy of allowance.
Watch if it shifts or changes.
If it travels.
Allowance for everything to be exactly as it is.
Shift back to the dark space between your closed eyes.
Relax into neutrality.
Neutral ease.
Through the doorway of neutrality.
You can connect to the part of you that exists both inside and outside of the body at the same time.
The vast creative,
Expansive you.
The undying,
Unchanging part of you.
Visualize and see clearly the images that I mention.
Use this higher mind to see and explore.
Move from one image to the next.
A single feather.
A turtle swimming in the ocean.
The rainforest.
Climbing a tall tree.
An erupting volcano.
The rings of Saturn.
Stardust.
Blue whale.
Blue whale.
Lost pages of a sacred book.
Bottom of the ocean.
Buried treasure.
A tribe standing around a fire.
Stand in your feet as a member of the ocean.
As a member of the tribe.
Notice the faces of people standing around you.
See and feel your feet on the earth.
The warmth of the flames blazing in the fire.
Then underfoot the ground begins to move and tremble.
Up from deep down below the surface.
Rises a truth that was planted by you.
From deep down the light rises up through layers of earth.
Up into your body through your pelvis.
Into the womb space.
Touching the belly.
Your heart.
The light lands inside your throat.
Glowing with freedom and ease.
Remember and feel the words of your Sen Kelpa in the light in your throat.
Sense the words of your deeper truth.
Then inside of you yell,
Speak,
Scream,
Be the words of your Sen Kelpa.
Scream the words of your Sen Kelpa into the fire.
Release the words of your inner voice into the flames three times now.
The flame receives your truth and shifts from orange to white flames no longer hot.
You can choose now to enter the white flame.
Step inside the white flame and shift into pure energy.
Then even more subtle into pure thought.
And then vaporize into white smoke as you become even less dense.
Move like rising white smoke.
Discipate and dissolve into the vast darkness beyond the night sky.
Release all matter and form.
Release all familiar.
Turn towards the immeasurable unknown within.
Rest here for a few moments.
The immeasurable,
Mysterious,
Unknown taking over.
Drift like a moving vapor back into the space of your own heart.
Sense the beating of your own heart.
The breath moving inside your body.
Taste the taste on your tongue.
Let your awareness enter each and every cell evenly.
Each and every bone.
Begin to remember the sense of being awake.
As you have rewritten the memory of your muscles to align with your inner voice.
The inner truth.
Breathe deeply to awaken the body from within.
The practice of yoga nidra is now complete.
