The theme of this meditation is flowing like water.
Water nourishes all life here on earth.
It makes up more than 70% of our bodies and it covers about 70% of the planet that we live on.
It's in us,
It's all around us,
And there is so much we can learn from it.
Lao Tzu,
The great Chinese philosopher said,
Water is fluid,
Soft,
And yielding,
But water will wear away rock,
Which is rigid and cannot yield.
As a rule,
Whatever is fluid,
Soft,
And yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard.
What is soft is strong.
So today I want to bring our attention inward and meditate on how we can be like water and embody those properties that make the softest element on earth the strongest.
So find your most comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down,
And just start to take some nice deep breaths here.
Feel your spine tall and supported so that the front of your body can just soften and open.
The quality of our minds are reflected in the quality of our breath,
So be sure to take long deep inhales,
Bringing you into spaciousness,
And long slow exhales that allow you to fully release anything not serving you.
Just witness the waves of breath moving in and out of your body with total ease.
Feel feeling your belly expand and exhale allowing the belly button to kiss the spine.
Lao Tzu said water is fluid,
Soft,
And yielding,
Yet it can wear down rock.
So let's be like water.
We can do this through our breath.
As you inhale,
Make your breath soft and fluid like water.
Don't control the breath or manipulate it.
Just watch it as it enters your nostrils and knows just what to do and just where to go.
It enters your body and it permeates all of you as it literally gives life to your cells,
Your organs,
Your heart.
No need to control your breath.
Just simply watch it take on the quality of water as it flows in and out of your body.
Lao Tzu said water is the softest thing on earth and yet it can wear down the hardest of rocks.
So just notice where those rocks and mountains are occupying space in your own body.
Identify a place in your body where you feel something is stuck,
Unyielding,
Immovable,
Like a rock.
And gently invite your breath to permeate that space.
It could be a place in your body where you habitually hold on to tension.
So find that place of tension and invite your breath to flow here.
Let the water flow.
Where anxiety lives and breathes.
Find that space where anxiety resides and invite your breath to flow here.
Find that space where anxiety resides and invite your breath You You Could be a place where your muscles not or where inflammation flares up Find that space where your muscles have become hard and knotted and invite your breath to flow here Maybe what is unyielding within you is a belief system that no longer serves you a habit that hurts you an emotional block Find those areas in your own being that have been unyielding and Summon your breath to flow deeply into these spaces Let your breath wear down these mountains You You Each inhale your breath gets deeper into these spaces Just allow this breath to flow more deeply here Allow it to wash over these areas that are not yielding And watch as your breath wears down these blockages these rocks within you You You Just watch your breath as it flows like water Watch it as it flows with a gentle unobtrusive softness You You As your breath is washed away much of the debris inside of you You should feel your breath becoming more and more expansive more full more deep And you know that you can continue to use your breath to create even more depth inside of you There is no end to how deep you go You are fluid You are strong You are yielding You can flow with ease in any direction life takes you You can overcome any mountain Any barrier with gentleness persistence and grace As long as you keep flowing like water And when you're ready,
Please wiggle your fingers and toes Gently open your eyes And breathe into this moment Namaste
