Weight Off Your Mind
by Phil South
Original ambient music, isochronic beats and looped guided meditation (repetition helps to reinforce the words) makes this a soothing and wonderful way to alter your thinking on the subject of losing weight. Be sure to listen to the end for helpful tips as you rise back up into consciousness. Update: I've heard your reviews and yes the guiding voice repeats but I promise you this helps to encode the words in your mind. Please give it a chance and embrace it, keeping your mind open, and accept the words mindfully. Thank you! And thank you for all the kind comments.

Hello,
This is Phil South and welcome to Weight Off Your Mind,
A special guided meditation which has the power to help you find your perfect weight and stay that way forever.
It's a simple,
Pleasant and natural exercise which helps you to clear your confusion and doubt about your relationship with food and helps you to find the right balance.
Once you get your thinking clear,
It helps you replace the old thoughts,
The old behaviours with healthier thoughts and actions.
Before we get started,
I just want to talk a little about what we're doing here.
To prepare yourself to listen,
Take four deep,
Connected breaths.
Relax your body,
Feel it sinking into your chair a little bit.
Now think along with me for a few moments as we turn away from the outer world and share a few thoughts about food and happiness.
We all have different reasons why we gain weight and we all have different behaviours which contribute to us putting on the pounds.
Mostly it seems it's confusion about how our bodies work but comfort eating and a lack of proper exercise comes into it too.
Obviously there's an entire industry which makes its money by confusing you about food so it's not your fault.
Plus if there's any reason that you go to food for comfort,
That's not your fault either.
The human body is an amazing mechanism.
It carries inside it the ability to physically transform itself and all it takes is learning how it works and working with it,
Giving it what it needs and it will nurture and protect you all of your life.
Once you get your body back on board as part of your team,
You can feel more confident,
Relaxed and healthy than you have ever been before.
Weight loss requires effort,
That's true but the really good news from your point of view is it is not achieved by brute force or willpower.
If you try and fail while dieting that's not your fault because dieting is only intended to be a temporary measure to get you where you need to be.
It relies on brute force and willpower and those are not the best way to get anything done over time.
The real work,
The real weight loss is a change of lifestyle and it happens in your mind.
Your problem might be that you eat too much or move your body around too little or both.
It actually doesn't matter.
What matters most of all is your relationship to food.
Real food nourishes your body.
It provides you with nutrients which fuel and heal your body.
Overly flavoured but nutritionally insubstantial food provides a temporary high,
Often lasting only minutes and provides little nutrition.
And worst of all they also provide an addictive need for more of the same.
Real food,
Food containing actual food for your human body,
Satisfies you and makes you slim,
Happy and healthy.
Your body is in balance.
Listening to this recording will provide you with all the tools you need to lose weight on the deepest level of your mind and make you feel good about yourself for doing so.
You will be the real you,
The most you that you have ever been.
Your thinking will be clear and clean.
You will be relaxed,
Calm,
Healthy and resourceful.
So let's go into this a little deeper.
If you really want to change the way you think about food and I'm sure you do,
Continue to think along with me now as we stay in this relaxed and receptive state and go through this together.
Before we start I should say this next part of the recording requires your full attention and is best listened to with your eyes closed so it goes without saying you shouldn't do it while driving.
So sit in a comfortable chair,
Move around a little,
Get all the kinks out.
It's okay to shift yourself around a bit while doing this technique but it's essential that you try to stay as focused and receptive as possible and relax as fully as you are able.
Don't force it,
Just allow it to happen.
It doesn't take effort to relax,
It just means you become aware of your body and let it go.
Relaxing fully and completely under your control is a future part of your weight loss.
Relaxing fully will be your new favourite thing to do.
So let's relax fully.
Start by getting comfortable and relax.
It works best if you sit somewhere free of distracting noise but if there is noise around you notice it but don't feel the need to listen to and be distracted by it and just let it wash over you and pass you by.
If you feel any distracting thoughts coming to mind then gently push them away and refocus yourself on my words.
Okay.
Start to be aware of all the muscles in your body.
Tense them,
Even scrunch up your face and hold it for a second.
Then let them go.
Relax.
If you feel like it let your head drop gently down towards your chest.
Allow your neck to be relaxed and loose and let your chin lower down to its most relaxed and comfortable position.
As always don't force it,
Just let it happen.
You might notice how heavy and comfortable this position feels.
Enjoy the sensation.
Relax your neck and shoulders.
Relax your arms,
Hands and your chest.
You might notice how heavy your legs feel on the chair.
Enjoy the heavy relaxed feeling.
How relaxed your legs and feet.
Enjoy how relaxed and heavy your legs and feet feel.
Feel your feet pressing on the floor and notice how they feel heavy,
Flat on the floor.
Totally and completely relaxed.
As you sit totally and completely relaxed you may notice a calm and warm sensation spreading gently through your body.
You may notice you feel totally calm,
Totally and fully relaxed.
As you sit totally and fully relaxed you know that you are totally and completely in control of this relaxed state.
You are in control and yet you feel comfortable,
Calm and totally and fully relaxed.
You notice that you could move and you are choosing to relax completely and sink into this new enjoyable relaxed feeling.
In this calm and relaxed state you will notice you can easily concentrate on a single subject and for a few moments concentrate fully on my words.
You will probably notice how pleasant it is just to listen to the sequence of words and let them flow into your mind.
In your mind begin to form an image of a staircase.
It has ten steps and you are standing at the top of the staircase.
Form a clear picture of it in your mind from where you are standing at the top of the staircase.
In a moment I am going to ask you to mentally go down the stairs one by one and as you do so your relaxation will go deeper with each step.
Okay let us begin.
Take your first step going deeper.
Take your second step.
Take your third step.
Going deeper still.
Take the fourth step and the fifth step.
Now the sixth step going deeper still and the seventh step.
Now the eighth step and the ninth step going deeper and deeper.
Now as you take the tenth and final step you are at your deepest level.
A calm relaxed state of mind where you can concentrate on one subject and one subject alone.
Allow my words to guide you.
You see a chair in front of you.
Go over to it and sit down.
It is comfortable and relaxing.
You are fully and totally relaxed.
Feel yourself sinking comfortably into the chair and listen to my words.
I am going to tell you a few stories.
I have a friend called Jane who says that how you start your day is the most important thing you will do all day to activate your weight loss.
She always drinks a tall glass of filtered water as soon as she gets up in the morning.
I asked her why and she said you must drink water in the morning because it helps your digestion and it makes sure you start the day with a bowel movement.
Why is that important?
I asked her and she said quite simply being regular flushes toxins out of the body more quickly and helps with your weight loss.
It must work.
She does look good.
She looks healthy and fit and her skin and eyes are really clear.
She says her food is fuel for health and she is so much happier now she has control over what she eats and when.
So a person can choose to make healthy choices.
They just have to understand what their bodies need.
You may notice that the first thing in the morning what your body needs most is clean,
Fresh filtered water.
My other friend Steve also has a morning routine.
He never skips breakfast.
I asked him why and he told me skipping breakfast makes you fat.
I always eat a breakfast which contains protein as soon as I can after waking as close as possible to 30 minutes.
I was unsure what he meant so I asked him what kinds of protein and he assured me that meat is not the only protein.
Sure he said with a smile.
I like bacon and other meats but I found out that having other sources of protein in the morning like nuts and seeds is really good and once I got in the habit I found out it tastes good too.
Doesn't he find nuts and seeds boring?
I asked.
Actually he said you find out really quickly that giving your body what it needs is a bigger high than junk food and it lasts all day.
I even add a little sweetness to my breakfast like honey or agave nectar.
It makes for a great start and I always have lots of energy.
It's true he does look good,
Strong and happy.
He has clear skin and seems very confident.
Obviously he's not a vegetarian.
Oh I do eat delicious vegan food sometimes but of course I still have a little bacon if I want it.
He smiled.
I'm not afraid of any kind of food and I don't have it all the time because that would be dull and my body loves variety.
Besides I discovered that having a variety of protein sources in my food helps me lose weight faster.
It seems to be working because he looks great.
He eats well and enjoys his food but he says he's happy his relationship to food is much more under his control.
You may notice my friends enjoy the flavor and amount of food that they have.
They eat a lot but their food is all nutritious.
Imagine that they eat a lot of vegetables,
Gorgeously flavored and delicious and have no trouble eating meat.
They just eat less of it because they choose variety.
Another friend called Dave explained this to me.
He said,
When I used to be heavy I used to eat mostly meat and avoided vegetables.
I think it was a childhood thing,
Being forced to eat vegetables which made me want to avoid them.
My parents had the best interests at heart but it had the wrong effect.
But I figured now that I'm a grown up I should take charge of my food and make sure I eat right.
And the funny thing is I'm almost reluctant to say it.
He paused and I urged him to go on.
Well you know I used to be the fat guy and I hated vegetables.
Now I'm much slimmer,
My perfect weight and I love vegetables.
Those two things have to go together right?
I agreed.
He went on to tell me,
You should eat more vegetables than meat.
It really powers up your weight loss.
But don't do as I did at first and cover them in dressing or sauce.
I realized that was an attempt to make them more appealing like I was getting over my childhood fear of vegetables.
But here's the thing,
I realized something very important.
If you eat vegetables you start craving more vegetables.
I know,
Weird right?
If you eat junk food you crave junk,
That we know.
But if you eat good food you crave good food.
That never really occurred to me before.
So although it's odd at first,
You miss the huge distracting cartoon flavors of junk food.
Once you choose not to have them for a while everything changes.
When food you used to think was bland suddenly had these amazing flavors.
Everything tastes better.
It's as if junk food was ruining my sense of taste.
Real food which nourishes your body tastes better than junk food and satisfies you longer.
I think he might have a point there.
He certainly looks good on it.
Although he's a heavy set guy he's very toned and looks fit and healthy.
He also had this important point.
The problem is that metabolism is like a furnace he said.
You have to keep it fueled in order for it to burn correctly.
If you're miserly with the word the furnace will go out or burn very low.
Sounds weird but in order to lose weight you have to eat.
This is why dieting doesn't work.
He makes a good point.
Have you ever noticed that slim people seem to eat a lot?
It's not always just luck or genetics that makes them that way.
It's the relationship to food.
They can take it or leave it.
For every time you see them stuffing themselves with anything they like says David.
There are times when they can't be bothered or are not hungry.
They eat for nutrition first and enjoyment second.
They usually eat only when they're hungry.
In a manner of speaking they keep the boiler stoked with wood every time it gets low so it burns brightly all day.
Because their metabolism works smoothly they stay at the perfect size for them.
I asked David if he works out a lot and he said no.
I don't want to spend a lot of money getting healthy so I stayed away from the gym.
If you can afford them by all means do it.
But I didn't have the money so I exercised at home.
I got a few good exercises from a website on the internet,
A 7 minute workout and did them at home.
How did that go?
I asked.
Was it hard?
Oh yeah he smiled.
At first it was difficult.
It hurt a bit the day after and I was going to quit but a friend who was a physical trainer told me that's natural.
When you use your muscles after a long time of not using them it will hurt a little at first but it soon passes and the more you do it the easier it becomes.
The ache you feel is a good ache.
It means your muscles are toning and tightening.
It also helps when you're exercising that you visualise the muscles you're using.
See them stretching in your mind's eye.
You shouldn't overdo it but you should push yourself a little too.
As it turned out my friend Steve shared Dave's experience.
Once I got in the habit he said it was easy and enjoyable to do some gentle exercise every day.
I didn't overdo it.
I didn't go crazy.
And I pushed myself a little bit.
A little beyond the point I wanted to stop.
It was difficult.
But I figured if I wanted myself to be healthy I should stop listening to my body complaining.
Once you get going you start to enjoy it and see the results very quickly.
He added if I had one tip it would be don't be an athlete just commit to doing some exercise every day no matter how little.
You'll soon get the hang of it.
So my friends Jane,
Steve and David all have stories to share about their path to weight loss and it seems to follow a pattern.
They all made a change in their lifestyle and do things which they now know are good for them.
They understand their bodies and they give their bodies what they need.
They're not athletes but they do simple exercise every day and they push themselves a little and it gets easier really quickly.
Something else I learned from my friend Jane was important too.
Jane tells me she had a traumatic experience in the past and took refuge in food to feel safe.
She says having a better relationship with food healed her trauma faster than hiding behind food.
She realized now she healed her trauma she felt safe and calm and food was a poor substitute for good relationships not only with food but her friends and most importantly with herself.
She says she needed help to talk about her trauma and talking about it with a counselor helped her to heal the trauma but also the behavior she developed as a survival mechanism like going to food for comfort.
She says she feels so much better now she's sorted out the confusion in her mind.
She tells me that since she started seeing visible results of having a healthy attitude to food her self-image has improved.
It's not that she got super skinny,
Not at all.
She's a curvy woman but she looks and feels good because it comes from within.
She feels safe.
She said that talking to someone helped her work this out and she added if you have trauma in your past talk to someone about it.
Counseling was the first step to my successful weight loss.
Once I felt safe inside I started to look good outside.
I asked my friends if they had any final advice for anyone embarking on a personal transformation.
Enjoy the sensory experience of food said David.
All food should be enjoyed slowly and fully.
Enjoying your food and not galloping it down gives you time to digest and enjoy it fully.
Stop dieting and nourish yourself said Jane.
Those are not the enemy,
Empty calories are.
Oh and something important.
Healthy food isn't boring,
It's just that unhealthy food is absurdly sugary and salty.
In the same way that just because someone in a room is shouting doesn't mean everyone else is talking too quietly.
You just have to bring the level of the conversation down so that everyone can speak at a comfortable level so it is with food.
You have to notice any overuse of artificially highly flavored foods and naturally bring the level of stimulation down to normal healthy levels.
I asked Steve if he had any last comments.
He thought for a moment and then smiled.
Heal your digestion,
Make sure you hydrate,
Have a probiotic supplement every day and fiber too,
Oh and detoxifying yourself in some way a few times a year wouldn't hurt.
I do a juice fast every six months and you feel amazing afterwards.
It's like rebooting a computer when it gets stuck.
I love my friends and you know what the most important thing is?
They love themselves.

Although he's a heavy set guy he's very toned and looks fit and healthy.
He also had this important point.
The problem is that metabolism is like a furnace he said.
You have to keep it fuelled in order for it to burn correctly.
If you're miserly with the wood the furnace will go out or burn very low.
Sounds weird but in order to lose weight you have to eat.
This is why dieting doesn't work.
He makes a good point.
Have you ever noticed that slim people seem to eat a lot?
It's not always just luck or genetics that makes them that way.
It's their relationship to food.
They can take it or leave it.
For every time you see them stuffing themselves with anything they like says David there are times when they can't be bothered or are not hungry.
If you can afford them by all means do it but I didn't have the money so I exercised at home.
I got a few good exercises from a website on the internet,
A 7 minute workout and did them at home.
How did that go?
I asked.
Was it hard?
Oh yeah,
He smiled.
At first it was difficult.
It hurt a bit the day after and I was going to quit but a friend who was a physical trainer told me that's natural.
When you use your muscles after a long time of not using them it will hurt a little at first.
But it soon passes and the more you do it the easier it becomes.
The ache you feel is a good ache.
It means your muscles are toning and you're getting better.
It's not a bad thing.
It's a good thing.
It's a good thing.
It's a good thing.
It's a good thing.
It's a good thing.
It's a good thing.
It's a good thing.
The muscles are toning and tightening.
It also helps when you're exercising that you visualize the muscles you're using,
See them stretching in your mind's eye.
You shouldn't over do it but you should push yourself a little too.
As it turns out my friend Steve shared Dave's experience.
Once I got in the habit he said it was easy and enjoyable to do some gentle exercise every day.
I didn't overdo it.
I didn't go crazy.
And I pushed myself a little bit,
A little beyond the point I wanted to stop.
It was difficult.
But I figured,
If I wanted myself to be healthy,
I should stop listening to my body complaining.
Once you get going,
You start to enjoy it and see the results very quickly.
He added,
If I had one tip,
It would be,
Don't be an athlete.
Just commit to doing some exercise every day,
No matter how little.
You'll soon get the hang of it.
So,
My friends Jane,
Steve and David all have stories to share about their path to weight loss.
And it seems to follow a pattern.
They all made a change in their lifestyle and do things which they now know are good for them.
They understand their bodies and they give their bodies what they need.
They're not athletes,
But they do simple exercise every day.
They push themselves a little and it gets easier really quickly.
Something else I learned from my friend Jane was important too.
Jane tells me she had a traumatic experience in the past and took refuge in food to feel safe.
She says having a better relationship with food healed her trauma faster than hiding behind food.
She realized now she healed her trauma,
She felt safe and calm and food was a poor substitute for good relationships not only with food,
But her friends and most importantly with herself.
She says she needed help to talk about her trauma and talking about it with a counselor helped her to heal the trauma,
But also the behavior she developed as a survival mechanism,
Like going to food for comfort.
She says she feels so much better and she's sorted out the confusion in her mind.
She tells me that since she started seeing visible results of having a healthy attitude to food,
Her self-image has improved.
It's not that she got super skinny,
Not at all.
She's a curvy woman,
But she looks and feels good because it comes from within.
She feels safe.
She said that talking to someone helped her work this out and she added,
If you have trauma in your past,
Talk to someone about it.
Counseling was the first step to my successful weight loss.
Once I felt safe inside,
I started to look good outside.
I asked my friends if they had any final advice for anyone embarking on a personal transformation.
Enjoy the sensory experience of food,
Said David.
All food should be enjoyed slowly and fully.
Enjoying a food and not calibrating it down gives you time to digest and enjoy it fully.
Stop dieting and nourish yourself,
Said Jane.
Calories are not the enemy,
Empty calories are.
Oh,
And something important.
Eating healthy food isn't boring,
It's just that unhealthy food is absurdly sugary and salty,
In the same way that,
Just because someone in a room is shouting,
Doesn't mean everyone else is talking too quietly.
You just have to bring the level of the conversation down so that everyone can speak at a comfortable level,
So it is with food.
You have to notice any overuse of artificially highly flavored foods can potentially bring the level of stimulation down to normal healthy levels.
I asked Steve if he had any last comments.
He thought for a moment and then smiled.
Heal your digestion.
Make sure you hydrate,
Have a probiotic supplement every day,
And fiber too.
Oh,
And detoxifying yourself in some way a few times a year wouldn't hurt.
I do a juice fast every six months and you feel amazing afterwards.
It's like rebooting a computer when it gets stuck.
I love my friends and you know what the most important thing is?
They love themselves.
Okay,
Those are all the stories I have for you today.
Think along with me for a few more moments and then we will be done.
You could,
Couldn't you,
Tell yourself every day when you wake up,
I am a slim and healthy person and it feels good to enjoy life free from extra weight.
You can feel comfortable and relaxed and find other things to do with your free time other than eat.
Notice the enjoyment you feel each time you do those things free from the desire to eat and let that reinforce your choice.
You choose health.
You don't have to believe those things right away,
But say them anyway and soon you may believe them.
Once you choose health,
You may notice that everyone who meets you treats you with a little more respect.
You will receive compliments on your appearance because your beauty will shine from within and you will accept those compliments easily.
And you will have more confidence when meeting people,
Knowing you are the perfect weight for you,
Relaxed,
Confident and calm.
Okay,
Now I am going to make a suggestion.
You will use this suggestion for as long as you need it and once you no longer need it,
It will fade away.
The suggestion is this.
If you ever feel the urge to eat out of boredom or sadness,
Simply touch your tongue to the roof of your mouth for a few seconds.
As you do this,
Take three deep breaths and think to yourself,
I nourish my body,
My comfort comes from within.
And as you do this,
You may notice the unhealthy urge melts away.
Try it now.
Touch your tongue to the roof of your mouth for a few seconds.
As you do this,
Take three deep breaths and think to yourself,
I nourish my body,
My comfort comes from within.
An impulse only lasts for a short while,
So all you have to do is put it off for a short while.
Once it is gone,
You can continue to be happy,
Healthy and free from boredom or comfort eating.
Once it is gone,
You can continue to feel joy from your choice to take control of your life.
You can feel good about yourself and be confident,
Relaxed,
Calm and healthy.
Also use this phrase,
Morning and night.
Say it to yourself before you go to sleep and every morning.
I nourish my body,
My comfort comes from within.
During the day,
No matter how tired,
Upset or angry you may be,
You will say to yourself,
I nourish my body,
My comfort comes from within.
And you will believe it and derive great satisfaction from it.
Now finally imagine yourself a year from now,
Being the perfect weight for you.
Living your life as you choose,
Enjoying life so much more than you did before you chose your new freedom.
It would have been a wonderful year.
You will look healthy,
Happy and full of life.
See the image in great detail.
Now take the image of yourself and gently pull it inside of you,
Making it a part of you now.
Be that person now.
Okay,
In a moment I'm going to instruct you to come back to full weight form.
But first I want you to think for a moment.
Now you might notice it's quite hard to recall what we've been talking about in this recording.
For example you might not recall what I was saying 35 seconds ago.
Or even what I was saying 3 and a half minutes ago.
Or even as recently as 20 seconds ago.
But you realise it really doesn't matter.
You can choose to forget to remember or remember to forget.
It's up to you.
Either way you will keep the thoughts you heard during this recording locked safe inside your subconscious mind.
And your conscious thoughts will now always reflect the truth of the voice within.
My words will go with you.
In a moment I will tell you to open your eyes after a count backwards from 5 to 1.
When we reach the end of the count you will be fully awake,
Feeling refreshed,
Relaxed and filled with energy.
Ready for anything.
Okay,
Here we go.
5 4 3 2 1 Open your eyes and take a deep cleansing breath.
You are fully awake,
Feeling refreshed,
Relaxed and infused with energy.
Ready for anything.
You feel confident and excited about your choices.
You feel calm and good.
That's the end of today's session.
Thank you so much for taking this journey with me today.
I honor you for your courage in taking this first step into taking back control of your life and your relationship to food.
I wish you luck with your weight loss journey and much love,
Happiness and joy with all that you do.
And I hope we can meet again soon to take further steps on your journey.
This is Phil Selle saying,
Have a glorious day.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

I really like his voice and the tempo and advice is spot-on. Listening at the start of the day starts me off on the right foot. It helps me to remain mindful and reminds me why I wish to have a better relationship with food.

Wonderful and relaxing. I heard the whole meditation for the first time (w/o falling asleep) this fourth time that I listened, and I'm optimistic that the suggestions will be helpful in my weight loss journey. Some of the main points that I will take with me throughout my day(s) are: Drink a glass / bottle of unfiltered water when you get up first thing in the AM to promote a bowel movement. Eat some form of protein within the first 30 minutes of waking up (suggested nuts and seeds, bacon very occasionally, and sweeten with honey or agave nectar). Have some fiber too. And do a juice cleanse every 6 months or so. Eat fresh veggies throughout the day. My own thoughts: sautee squash, onions, eggplant, tofu in low sodium vegetable broth and have some brown rice on the side Feed the furnace (metabolism) so the fire doesn't go out. Eat the right foods and you can eat (a lot) all day. Feed your body with what it needs and you will start seeing results. Craving junk food? Hold your tongue to the roof of your mouth, take three deep breaths and say to yourself, "I nourish my body, my comfort comes from within." Urge for junk food should dissipate. Do any form of exercise every day for a few minutes.

At first it seems repetitive at about the 30:52 mark; if you hang in another 30sec, he clearly elaborates on what is reiterated. For those of us with Body-Harming via Compulsive Overeating, the verbal images cited are soothing, positive, gentling replacements for the Shaming, Harmful ones storming like a blistering storm, wrecklessly inside our heads.
