Welcome to this meditation on spinning the spine with Peter Radcliffe.

Hi and welcome to this meditation on spinning the spine.

This is a very relaxing meditation to do and it combines the power of meditating on the body with that of meditating on affirmations or positive messages to the mind.

We're going to actually meditate on the different vertebra along the spine which of course holds our central nervous system.

And by concentrating on this area,

Not only does it relax us but it puts us in tune with the messages that are going in and out and through our body.

So to begin with,

Just visualize with your eyes open or your eyes closed all your vertebra up the spine and we're going to concentrate on the bottom vertebra.

And imagine a tiny beam of light encircling the spine going round and round the spine.

See it going in a circle in time with your breath as you breathe in and out.

It makes one whole revolution.

And we're going to just do this three times.

You can do it up to ten times,

Ten breaths on each vertebra depending on how long you've got.

But you might want to start with three circles per vertebra.

And as you breathe out for the third time,

Go up to the next vertebra.

Now there's 24 vertebra in all,

So just visualize yourself.

When you're up to about 12 vertebra,

You're approximately halfway.

If you can't feel exactly where each vertebra is,

Which is obviously quite impossible,

Just imagine them being all the way there,

Going all the way up to the vertebra which joins onto your skull,

Which is the top of your neck.

And do this three or ten times,

However much time you've got.

And then if you want to add to it,

You can also imagine affirmations in the form of white light.

So for example,

For stress you might want to use words such as relax,

Or life is easy,

Life is flow.

All is good.

Or something like that,

To relax ourselves so much.

And instead of visualizing a beam of light,

Visualize the words in the texture of light as they spin around your spine.

We can also use different affirmations.

For example,

If you feel there's limitations in your life,

You might want to say things like abundance,

Or abundance flows through me,

Or I am always taken care of.

Or fear,

You might want to use affirmations like I am safe,

Or life is safe,

Or I feel safe.

Other ones we can do is things like learning is easy,

I am forever changing,

I am forever evolving,

I can definitely do it.

Whatever affirmation you want to use to strengthen your intention in one area,

Visualize this affirmation circling each vertebra three times in time with the breath before going up to the next vertebra,

And the next,

And the next.

All the way up,

Take your time right up to the top of the neck where the top vertebra is.

And then encapsulating your whole body.

This meditation shouldn't take any longer than about five minutes.

So notice how relaxed you can be,

And I hope you enjoy the meditation and get a lot of benefit out of the affirmation.

As others have noted, this is an instructional talk for a practice you can do on and in your own time. Well-described, clear, background music not overpowering. I was interested in hearing single words referred to as affirmations; I have done that for a long time, but thought of them more as mantras. This is the first time I have heard them called affirmations. I can certainly see how either term could apply, depending on use and intention. A practice I will try later, given chronic back issues. Easy to remember, sounds helpful. Thank you for sharing this, Peter. I see you and the light within you. Be well. 🤲🏻❤🤲🏻
