Welcome to this meditation on mindfulness of body with Peter Radcliffe.

Hello and welcome to this meditation on body sway.

This is a really fantastic meditation for fidgety people who feel the impulse to move.

It's also a great meditation for all of us to get into a nice centered posture.

You can do it whilst at the office or by watching TV or in the bathroom or you might even want to try it on public transport.

It's a really really good meditation to do at any time or at the beginning of a meditation where you want to start with this.

So when you're ready sit comfortably and feel grounded and supported.

Begin by rocking your body evenly and you can do this by rocking from side to side or by rocking back and forth.

Or you might even want to try moving the torso of your body in a circular motion like a grinding motion where your hips remain still and the top of your body moves and pivots around your hips.

Whichever direction you decide to sway,

Begin by making it nice and even like a pendulum swinging back and forth.

Allow the feelings of the movement to soothe away any fidgetiness like rocking a baby to sleep ever so slowly.

Keep this up until you feel the fidgetiness begin to dissipate and then slowly begin to allow your swaying motion to get smaller and smaller.

Until your body finds the perfect centre line in which to remain still.

Once you are still in the centre line of your body,

Spend some time in this new stillness,

Staying in the present moment.

Now if you'd like to continue or if you want a different version of this meditation,

You can also do the swaying motion with just your head,

Leaving your shoulders still and moving your head either side to side,

Back to front or around in a circular motion.

And again,

Gradually begin to make those movements smaller and smaller until your head is sitting perfectly located on your shoulders,

Very still.

And spend some time in this stillness before finishing the meditation.
