Reconnecting With Joy
Reconnect with yourself as you listen to this joyful relaxation meditation that is held in nature. Through the soothing sounds of gentle rain, birds, and the music of Chris Collins, your senses will be activated, encouraging you to switch off. So,
While you've got your eyes closed,
Just listen in to that beautiful,
Beautiful sounds of nature and the gentle music playing.
You might like to just visualise in your mind,
Yourself sitting within nature,
Birds talking to one another,
The wind is blowing in the trees.
Might like to just also think about a sound,
A sound that just brings you joy and happiness.
Might be just being in a peaceful,
Calm space with very little noise and sound,
Or it could be a very busy,
Chatty environment.
I'm just noticing your body now and just,
You might like to move and just arrange your body so it's nice and settled.
Keeping your feet flat on the ground,
Your shoulders,
Jaw and forehead softening,
Muscles releasing,
Hold a lot of tension in these areas.
Just allowing a soothing sensation as your body starts to relax and settle.
You might notice your thoughts,
Perhaps they're racing,
Perhaps they're thoughts that are looping with a kind compassion,
Just allowing them to float in and to float out.
You might like to just gently and slowly open your eyes,
Just looking around the room.
Is there anything that's curious and interesting?
And if you've got your eyes closed,
Just noticing if there are any colours or shapes behind your closed eyes.
Just taking in that beautiful,
Amazing ability of our eyes to interpret and to feed back information.
Now slowly and gently closing your eyes and taking a breath in,
Can you notice any fragrances in the air,
Perhaps the gentle and subtle smell of the lavender from the soft pillows that you are holding.
Or maybe you can smell the taste of a recent drink or meal you have just had.
Or perhaps you'd like to just think about a meal that has been joyful,
That beautiful smell and flavours and fragrances and the taste.
Just moving your attention now to your mouth,
Noticing different textures and surfaces within your mouth.
You might like to run your tongue over your teeth and outer lips,
Just feeling that beautiful sensation.
Whether your mouth is moist or dry.
Just now feeling and noticing what is touching your skin,
Perhaps the gentle breeze kissing your exposed skin.
Clothes or a blanket,
Trapping the heat,
Embracing and warming you.
You might like to think of a sensation that you love touching your skin such as a gentle hand,
Stroking your hand,
Perhaps a feather.
When you brush past an animal,
It's embracing that joy and that sensation of touch.
And now just resting back and noticing all the sensations and senses all together.
What you can hear,
Smell,
Taste,
Touch and see behind your closed eyes.
Your senses noticing all of the external environment and bringing messages to you,
Messages that allow you to be present right now.
Tuning into your inner world,
What are you feeling and what sensations are arriving in your body.
Sensations that might relate to feelings or emotions,
Just noticing what is happening.
And if you can,
With a kind awareness,
Just allowing them to come,
To settle and to slow down.
Bringing this awareness now to your breath as you breathe in and out.
What a joy it is to be able to breathe,
To breathe in life and to allow all that is no longer needed to be let go as you breathe out.
As you inhale,
Breathing in joy.
And as you exhale,
Just letting it flow through your whole body.
And just simply noticing your breath.
Is it deep or shallow?
Where can you feel it the most in your body?
At the tip of your nostrils?
Or as it moves down your throat?
Or perhaps as you inhale and exhale the expansion of your chest and stomach.
Knowing your breath is your constant companion.
And if you get lost in thoughts,
Feelings or uncertainty,
That's completely fine.
That's okay.
Just coming back to your breath.
The breath which is your constant companion.
And knowing that at any time,
If you feel an overwhelming sensation,
You're very welcome to move your body.
And allow it to release and to flow.
And now just letting all of that go.
And spending some time reminiscing and remembering a moment in your life where you felt joy.
It might be a memory.
It might be a special connection with a friend or someone you love.
Perhaps an animal.
Or just being in nature.
And feeling into that moment.
And noticing where in the body you feel that joy is resting.
No matter how small.
And now noticing your whole body from the top of your head all the way down to your toes.
And visualising a beautiful cloud in the sky.
This cloud has beautiful soft folds.
And you're able to just sit on top of this magnificent cloud.
You might like to lie back with your head and scalp resting as if the cloud is a cushion supporting and holding your whole body.
Just allowing your body to just settle and to soften.
To let go.
Feeling the cloud beneath your body embracing you,
Supporting you.
And moving over your scalp.
Over all the tiny little muscles in the back of your head.
Just allowing them to soften and to release.
Moving down your neck.
And your back.
And the top of your shoulder blades.
Down your vertebrae.
Into your sit bones.
And the whole of your back supported by this beautiful light and gentle cloud.
Just allowing you to sink in and loosen.
And moving over your hips and down your legs.
Your quads,
The backs of your knees and your calves.
Feeling the support.
The embrace of this cloud.
And allowing the whole of the back of your body just to soften,
Release and surrender to this moment.
Nothing else matters in this moment.
And from above you can feel the beautiful warmth of the sun shining down over you.
As it moves from the top of your head,
Over your forehead,
Eyebrows,
In between your eyes.
In your eyes and nose.
Over your cheeks and jaw and chin.
Just warming your skin and seeping in,
Loosening the muscles in your face.
This warm golden light moving down your neck,
Over your shoulders and down your arms.
Over your biceps and elbows.
Forearms.
Over your wrists.
And to your hands.
As it gently kisses the tops of your hands,
Your thumbs and fingers.
This sun embracing you,
Warming,
Allowing you to soften and to be soothed.
Visualising the light at the top of your torso.
As it moves down over your collarbone and to your chest.
And over your abdomen and pelvis.
Sun,
This warm golden ray.
Sinking in,
Swirling around.
Warming and embracing your whole torso.
And as it moves down the front of your legs,
Your thighs and over your knees,
Your shins.
And to your feet.
Over the whole of your body.
Surrendering.
As it sinks in to this beautiful cloud.
And as the sun shines down over your whole body.
Surrendering in this moment.
And while you are visualising this beautiful image.
Coming back to that moment in your life where you felt joy.
Perhaps a time you were connected with nature,
A person or an animal.
And feeling that sensation of joy in your body.
Can you notice where it rests?
No matter how small.
And as you breathe in.
Allowing the joy into your body.
And as you breathe out,
Allowing the joy to spread.
To nurture the rest of your body.
To bathe and to cultivate more joy.
Your whole mind,
Body and heart.
Surrendering.
This is your time.
And all else can dissolve.
And fade away.
Just slowly and gently now,
Coming back into the room.
Feeling your feet against the ground.
Your hands rested on the lap or the chair.
Noticing your jaw,
Shoulders and forehead.
How do they feel?
And taking a breath in and out.
Observing your breath.
Does it feel deeper?
Perhaps slower?
Knowing you have given yourself this time to allow your body,
Your mind,
Your thoughts and feelings to just be.
Gently now starting to move your fingers and toes.
Awakening your body and perhaps moving your head from side to side.
And in your own time,
Opening your eyes and drinking in the colours and objects that surround you.
