Welcome to this guided meditation which explores the power of the moon and our choice to let go of what no longer serves us.

This deep relaxation is designed to be enjoyed lying down either flat on your back with your legs outstretched in the traditional savasana pose or with your knees bent up and your feet flat on the floor.

Let your knees and thighs come together to allow your lower back to feel fully supported on the floor.

Take a moment to make sure you're comfortable wherever you are making any adjustments that you need to make before the meditation begins.

If you're ready let's begin.

Over the next few breaths visualize your surroundings from behind closed eyes.

You may see yourself in the same room that you're physically in right now but perhaps you can imagine you're lying on a moonlit beach on the night of the full moon being held by the sandy earth which feels solid and supportive but at the same time soft and mouldable to the contours of your body.

Knowing that you're fully supported by the earth that you rest on let's move our awareness around the body to see if there are any points where energy may be being stored and not flowing freely,

Any areas of tension.

Spend a few breaths noticing these places to see if you can soften these points with each exhalation.

Taking a deep inhalation you bring new energy,

New life force,

New prana into your body and as you let the exhalation leave it takes with it any negativity and any darkness from around the body.

Become aware of the moonlight from tonight's full moon bathing your whole body.

Bring your attention to the crown of your head and let the moonlight flow over your whole body from there.

As the moonlight flows down your body you can feel it cleansing and renewing,

Refreshing and re-energizing your whole body.

It's almost like water itself as it swishes and swooshes throughout your body getting into all the corners and crevices circling and winding as the moonlight cascades down your arms,

Down your torso into the pelvic basin and the groin bringing its energy and its light down into your legs and your feet.

Take a moment to rest here in the moon's complete embrace.

As the moonlight fills your body it refreshes and resets your own body's rhythms and routines just like the moon and its endless regular cycles.

Waxing,

Becoming full and waning again as it resets ready for the new cycle.

So in this period of fullness feeling whole and empowered begin to ponder those things in your life that don't serve you any longer.

On each exhalation visualize each of these negativities being released and drifting further and further away from you,

Maybe being washed out to sea from the beach you still rest on.

And in the coming nights as you see the full moon releasing her own fullness know that you are releasing with her,

Keeping hold only of what you need and otherwise letting go.

Take the time to feel into your physical body bringing your awareness back to your breath and the physical sensations that accompany your breath.

Feeling the cool air as it enters the nostrils,

Feeling the chest as it rises with incoming breath and feeling the warm air as it leaves the body.

Pay attention to your physical surroundings,

Perhaps you have a blanket over your body or feel the clothes against your skin.

Start to make the smallest of movements,

Wriggling the fingers and wriggling the toes.

Becoming aware of your other senses,

Any noises you can hear in the room or outside,

Anything you can taste or smell,

The darkness that you can see behind your closed eyelids.

When you feel ready to open your eyes,

Do so gently and with compassion.
