The worst things that could happen to us already have. Our traumas, the narratives, the stories... they keep us in holding patterns that feel inexhaustible. But we have the power to release the stories that we've been written out of, in order to write ourselves into something new. You deserve peace.

So go ahead and find what feels the most supportive and nurturing for you.

So that can be in a seat,

That can be lying down.

So I encourage you to really check in,

Maybe shutting the eyes down,

Taking a breath and asking the body how it wants to show up.

Does it need to feel the earth beneath it by lying down?

Does it desire to sit up with confidence and an open heart and an open chest?

And there is no right or wrong,

Doing what is best for you.

So once you choose,

We'll just take some breaths here in our seats or lying down.

And let the inhales and the exhales come from the nostrils.

So equal inhalations and exhalations moving through the nostrils and listening for that ocean like sound.

And letting yourself truly arrive here,

So many words or just spoken can bring things up,

It can maybe trigger memories or feelings,

Sensations in the body.

And I want for you to truly arrive in your vessel,

So in your body.

And let your exhalations soothe,

So meaning if there are contractions in the muscles,

Allow the body to soften so you can start from the forehead,

Softening even the eyes as they settle behind closed eyelids.

And slight relaxing across the chest as we keep the heart space open here.

Relaxing the shoulders.

Relaxing the wrists.

Let the hips be heavy and grounded on the earth or in your seat,

Let the spine be long but relaxed.

And really let your belly relax here.

And continue to breathe deeply,

Just coming into deep presence.

Nothing special needs to happen in our meditation.

There are no expectations.

And truly the only desire here that I wish for each of you is to really embody a field of presence.

As you sit here behind closed eyelids,

Feeling spaciousness.

Deep spaciousness around the body.

And an acknowledgement of safety here,

That you are contained in your body,

In your breath,

That you can let go here.

That you can feel free to touch into the subtleties of your physical experience,

Of your mental,

Of your panic,

That breath,

That life energy.

Something that I wrote to myself in a deep time of pain and grief around my own traumas.

I will share with you here.

Just allow the words to wash over you.

You don't have to cling to any of them as true or false for you.

Let what lands land.

Allow the questions to move through you with open inquiry.

And just truly allow yourself deep safety and nurturing here.

There is a wound here that seeks more than the telling of a story.

And a pain that runs so deep and wide from it.

That the very sensations in our deep sense of being when we live from here.

Our state of being no longer knows itself without this part,

This pain,

This trauma.

This sensation that is engulfing of our body.

When we identify with this story,

With the telling of this pain,

This event,

This space,

The people or the places attached to it.

The pain,

The sensation echoes in the chamber of our being timelessly.

And I wonder if we were able to heal this wound.

Would the pain subside?

If we shed this narrative that we share.

What are the unmet means beneath the story?

Is it connection that we desire?

Is it safety?

Is it to be seen or to belong?

Is it to matter or to be accepted?

For it isn't the story,

The action.

It's our reaction to it.

But is it that the inner child,

The adaptive child,

The different parts of us,

The protectors,

The managers,

The firefighters.

What needs are they seeking that are unmet?

What needs left unfulfilled?

What needs unseen and unpredicted by other?

Breathe into these questions and ask yourself,

What is it that you need that you didn't receive?

Take breaths in and out of the nostrils.

Just acknowledge what feelings come up when asked this question.

What does your being long for?

Because if you look closely,

It is not the telling of the story.

There is something deeper waiting to be nurtured.

And how can you be the caretaker?

How can you be the warrior?

How can you be the mother or father or lover or brother or sister that was not able to give to you what it was that you so deeply needed and still need?

Can you visualize the part of yourself that is in need,

That is in pain,

That is stuck in this cycle of the story?

What does he look like?

What does she look like?

What is her body position?

How does she breathe?

How does she move?

Can you look at her or look at him in the eyes?

Can you hold their hand?

Can you offer them comfort?

Can you say with sincerity that I'm here now?

I love you.

I support you.

I see you.

I care about your unmet needs.

I want to be there for you.

Just notice if it lands for them,

This part of you.

In this part,

Take in your caretaking,

Your nurturing,

Your connection.

Again let the body settle.

Let go of any contractions.

Notice any subtleties of your body moving away from this feeling,

This connection.

Does it feel tender or vulnerable here?

And observe.

Who are you if you are not the story of your trauma?

Who are you without this pain that lives in your body or your mind or your breath?

Who are you if you are not who you always have been?

Who are you really?

What are you really?

Are you sentience,

This felt sensation itself?

Are you light?

Are you life energy in form,

Formless taking shape as form?

And if this is your truth,

If you are formless and form,

If you are this sacred presence,

Then can you truly be hurt?

Can anything touch you?

And know again that you are safe here.

You are safe behind these closed eyes,

In this vessel,

This projection of your divinity.

And know that you are a world within a world.

You are an experience and that there are lessons here.

Just surrender to the breath.

And let that life force,

This pranic energy of breath be what gives you liberation and your body does not restrict you.

And let your deep presence and your breath be what begins to heal you slowly,

Slowly as you sit with these parts of you that are in pain.

And they feel so real,

So tangible.

And be with them.

And then again,

Ask yourself this question over and over and over each day,

Who am I?

Who am I?

Who am I?

More than likely the roles will come up.

I am a mother,

I am a father,

I am a painter,

I am a writer.

But who are you truly?

And at your deepest core?

And then asking,

Where does my pain stem from?

And is it mine to hold anymore?

How long have I been holding this?

And is holding this pain serving the greater good?

Can I forgive myself?

Can I forgive others?

And not as an excuse from the pain,

But to move forward from it.

Can I truly feel myself?

Can I hold myself?

Can I love myself?

Can I love myself enough to let go of any needs outside of the system that is me,

The world that is me,

The world within a world?

And can I begin to heal myself?

Deep breaths in and out of the nostrils.

Stay here in your body.

Stay here with those parts of yourself.

Let the tension and the pain dissolve from your body.

And each time you forget coming back to this space and acknowledging that you are the father,

The mother,

The sister,

The brother,

The lover,

The friend that you didn't have when you were in such deep need of healing.

But that you have the opportunity now to acknowledge those parts,

Those parts of the mind,

The sub-psyche that exist.

And once you acknowledge that there is a whole world within you,

A world within a world,

A family system of the mind,

You empower yourself not only to release needs from outside of yourself,

But you empower yourself to internally heal from the inside out,

Finding that wholeness,

That fullness that gives deep presence and healing to form.

Just allowing that in some moments of silence here.

Just let the breath move in and out of your vessel with ease.

And let the silence be soothing as my voice trails off for a little bit of time here.

Allow the silence to wash over you like a warm blanket,

Comforting and nurturing.

And allow self to be with self.

And again,

Reminding yourself each time you come into reaction or that pain comes into the body,

That cycle,

That you are safe here.

And that the worst has already occurred.

That you're a caretaker exists within.

And that we have the power to heal ourselves from the inside out with that intimate relationship,

Breath,

Body connection.

You can begin to release the narrative and step into full presence and embodiment.

Bring hands together at heart center,

Bowing head to heart and take a deep breath in,

Deep sigh out,

Let it go.

The war and warrior within me that seeks peace,

Connection and a deep,

Deep space of love challenges the war and warrior within you that also desires peace and a deep,

Deep,

Deep space of love and connection.

Aho and Namaste.

Outstanding. I found it unexpectedly intense — not at all a bad thing in my book, but I would not recommend this to anyone new to guided meditation and/or trauma work, or to someone currently in a state of distress. With those exceptions in mind, this is exactly the kind of practice I seek out on this app. Eager to check out more of this instructor’s offerings here.

Really soothing voice and good questions to help us seperate from the trauma narratives we become. More time in between to reflect on the questions would have been even better. Warm thanks!
