How To Let Go
by Our Echo
We push, we pull, we seek, we try, we endure, we produce, we consume. But now is a time, a space, a deep integration of surrender. Of the sweet peace that you are, that you permeate at your core. Now is a time to come back home to your true nature. Presence. Being.

Good morning.
Okay,
Minneapolis,
Vancouver.
I'd love to hear where you guys are from.
We got Ireland.
Beautiful.
So yes,
I'm in Missunte,
Mexico,
And I think that we're all filtering in now.
Texas,
I'm from Texas.
Hey Gina,
I know you.
Beautiful Toronto.
And something else that I would love to hear from you guys is chilly but grateful.
Yes,
Wonderful.
I would love to hear as the meditation is on letting go,
As we come into the new year,
And it doesn't even have to be about a new year.
Each day is a new day and a new moment.
So I don't really subscribe to the new year's resolution thing.
I think every day is an opportunity for a new resolution.
So giving you an opportunity now,
Even nine days into the new year,
It doesn't have to be about new years,
But what is it that you are wanting to let go of?
What is it that feels sticky and edgy in your mind or in your body that you're trying to really navigate,
Letting go?
And for a lot of us,
I'm sure there's expectations.
There's a lot of loss that came in 2020 and life in general.
So I'm sure we've experienced the pain of death and loss and heartbreak and so many other things.
So I would love to see in the little typing box over here what you guys are letting go of.
And I will bring this into our meditation today as well.
I have to keep making sure that I keep this little box working so that we have life,
Fear of rejection and criticism.
Yeah,
So letting go of limiting belief systems.
Wonderful.
Tom clutter and useless stuff in the house,
Yeah,
Material objects.
So letting go of materialism.
Yeah,
That's another one as well.
Repret and the loss of love and lack of acceptance.
I'm right there with you.
Letting go of negative energy.
Yeah.
There's a lot to let go of.
Conflict in relationships.
Yes.
I've had to let go of a lot of that in the last couple of months.
All right.
Well,
Beautiful.
If anything else gets added in there,
I'll look at it.
But I invite you now just to come into a comfortable space for me.
I'm going to be sitting up for you if there's any physical pain and it feels uncomfortable to sit up.
Do not feel the need to sit up just because that's the way that we do meditation.
I want you to feel comfortable in your body.
So lie down if you need to sit up if that feels good.
Letting go of projecting into the future.
Yes,
Carol,
We're going to talk a little bit about that.
And letting go when things don't go the way I wanted them.
Yeah.
And we get those nerves.
So as you sit or lie,
Shut the eyes down.
So it takes some moments here to ground into the human vessel,
Into your body,
The physical experience.
And as much as we use our meditation to come into our breath,
Sometimes getting stuck in the mind,
You should be very aware of what it feels like to be in your body right now.
Use the in breath and the out breath as they move in and out of the nostrils.
Listening for that ocean like sound.
So I'm lucky to have the ocean to my right.
But listening for your breath,
Hearing that ocean like sound of life moving in and out of the nostrils.
And as you sit in stillness and silence beckons around you,
Allow your body to relax more and more.
And notice in your physical body what still holds on tightly.
These concepts that we want to let go of,
These emotions,
Negative energy,
Regret,
Conflict,
Silence,
Hearing no.
When you hear these words and these concepts come into the mind,
Where do they live in the body?
Where does your expectation live?
And how does it feel in the skin and the bones?
Where does your fear live?
What are you afraid of?
A large aspect of letting go,
A large aspect of the fear of letting go truly comes from not trusting.
I just trust that what we need,
What we desire,
What we want will come to us or it will be taken away.
The reality is that life is in constant flux and it's in constant support of us.
If we're able to just trust and surrender,
The letting go becomes less frightening.
Continue to breathe here,
Allowing the body to become soft and supple.
Allowing the breath to nurture you and not constrict you.
Notice if there's any tension in the chest or in the belly,
Let things be loose.
Let go even more here.
Relaxing the shoulders,
Relaxing the brow and the jawline.
And notice what it feels like even here in this moment to let go of voice.
As my voice trails off in those moments of silence,
Notice if you begin to fill the space.
Notice if the thinking mind begins to override the feeling body and instead surrender.
Let go of the need to do anything correctly or be properly in meditation or sitting correctly or lying softly.
Just acknowledging that who you are,
What you are,
This energy,
The breath that encompasses you.
This feeling is perfectly imperfect.
Allow yourself to settle.
Each day the air we breathe comes to us with such trust.
Unaware and detached from the complex but simple elements that dance together to create oxygen,
We are seemingly detached from how much we truly must trust that life will support us.
I invite you to let go.
Each moment,
Each cycle of breath as it moves through can also be seen as life breathing you in and breathing you out.
So as you trust that your next nurturing and fulfilling breath will come to be,
Trust that life supports you in more than the in-breath and the out-breath.
Like sand on the beach,
When we pick it up too quickly and grasp onto it too tightly,
Desiring to possess its fine grand rules,
Quickly the grains slip between the fingers when we grip them.
And we are left with very little in the palm.
But instead if we pick sand up and appreciate it,
Leaving the palm open with freedom in the space surrounding,
Our gift is that the sand stays a bit longer.
So what are you clinging to so dearly?
And why are you afraid to let go?
You cannot possess life.
You cannot possess objects or people or places.
Stop future change or transition.
And if you try to,
The change will bring you pain.
Trust that you will be given what you need in life,
That you will be nurtured,
That you will be loved,
That you will be seen.
And know that you are important,
That you have a right to be here.
Notice in moments if you tend to grasp to another in order to feel alive,
To feel whole,
To feel loved,
To feel seen.
Part of letting go is trusting.
Trusting in yourself.
Trusting that you have all of the tools that you need to live a full life.
Trusting that no place,
No person,
No job,
No object,
No material will complete the fullness of what you already are.
Breathe deeply.
Feel the earth beneath you,
Whether it's a bed or a chair or an apartment floor or the room you've actually found.
And just trust.
Trust that you've found yourself exactly where you need to be in this moment to receive exactly what you need to hear.
Trust that the in-breath will always come,
The out-breath will always leave,
And that will be complete in every moment.
There is nothing that you need outside of yourself.
Your body,
Your breath,
That microcosm of the macrocosm of life,
A reflection of the earth,
The community around you.
And still,
Still we can love deeply,
But we can let go.
We can trust that when we show ourselves truly,
That when we love deeply,
When we bless deeply,
When we live deeply,
That we will be supported.
That love will be reflected back,
That death will be reflected back.
And maybe at times,
Most times,
It doesn't go as we planned.
Maybe the people that we hope to be seen by or the jobs that we hope to have or the life paths that we want,
The direction changes.
And here too,
We must trust.
We must let go.
In every single moment,
I surrender,
I surrender,
I surrender,
I surrender.
And saying internally into your inner world,
I trust,
I trust,
I trust.
I am receiving exactly what I need.
I am receiving exactly what I need.
I am receiving exactly what I need.
Nothing is being taken away from me.
Nothing is being taken away from me.
Nothing is being taken away from me.
Stay with your breath.
Stay soft.
Stay receptive.
Stay open.
In your inner world,
Again,
Repeating these messages to yourself in your own ways.
I trust in life.
I trust that I will be loved.
I trust that I am seen.
I trust that I am important.
I trust that my challenges are only given to me because I know internally that I can grow and evolve.
I trust in my pain.
I trust in my grief.
I trust in my heartbreak.
I trust in my bigness.
I trust in my smallness.
I trust in my need to be seen and my need to isolate.
I trust in the timing.
I trust in the perfection of chaos.
I will not make myself a victim of circumstance or conditions.
I will remain open and aware.
I will remain pleasant and calm.
Everything that I need is right here in the in-breath and the out-breath with constant supports moment by moment.
And I will allow others to be free.
I will trust.
I will give space.
I will let go of expectation and my need to grasp.
And just like the open palm,
I will hold life lightly in my hands.
No longer grasping.
No longer shouting for attention or connection.
No longer fighting.
If people or places or things want to leave,
I will welcome you.
What is meant for me will come back to me or will come to me.
I will no longer chase life.
I will live life in every single inhalation and exhalation.
Let the silence settle around you like a long cane.
If you're somewhere where there is noise,
Or even if the internet is a little shaky,
Let go of anything to be other than it is.
Feel the body growing softer.
Realizing the weight of the hips as they settle into the earth.
And again,
Thinking the earth beneath you as it allows you to let go.
You walk upon it,
You sit upon it,
You lay upon it,
You dance upon it.
Does it ask for anything in return?
You trust that it will always be there,
Just like the air that you breathe,
The water that you drink.
So many elements supporting your very survival in every single moment,
Step by step,
Breath by breath,
Sip by sip.
Bring one hand to the heart,
One hand to the throat,
Very lightly,
Not dropping onto the throat,
Just very lightly.
Take a deep breath in,
Deep breath out,
You can sigh out.
Just acknowledge the heart beat in the chest here as the chest rises and falls.
Acknowledge the breath moving through the throat.
Seeking and taking in deep gratitude for the complexity of this divine vessel that you live in.
Such sweetness and softness.
Something gifted to you that you rarely understand.
Just a small aspect do we tend to understand about these beautiful bodies that you've been living in,
And hands together at heart center,
Bowing head to heart.
And again,
Deep gratitude in the inhalation,
In the exhalation,
Deep gratitude for showing up today for yourself.
Deep gratitude to life.
Deep gratitude to breath,
To Mother Nature,
To our rivers and oceans and lake.
More and more each and every day,
Let yourself let go.
Namaste.
Deep,
Deep gratitude to each of you for showing up today.
Deep gratitude for your challenges and obstacles,
All of the things that we so tightly grasp onto.
I think 2020 was a beautiful year of reflecting on just how impermanent things are.
And as we step into 2021,
If we really want to reflect and take new perspectives and shifts into a new cycle and a new year.
The big lesson here that we've been shown by Mother Nature is that things will constantly shift and change.
That we really have such little control over our lives.
That we are so collectively intertwined and enmeshed with one another.
That we just have to trust and surrender and let go of our need to grasp onto things,
To grasp onto people and to places and to ideas and concepts and our ways of life.
Because in a moment,
Just like that,
Things can change.
Just like that in a moment,
Your whole life can change.
And just as you're in your moments of depth and despair and it feels engulfing and you're grasping for air and for things and people.
In one other moment,
The inhale comes in and you have everything that you need.
So in those moments where you feel that experience of the death or the loss of something,
Your whole life is falling apart or shattering as you know it.
Trust.
Take a moment,
Breathe and the inhale will come again.
Just like joy and happiness,
All of the goodness of life will come again.
So trust in life.
And feel free to in the comment sections,
Again,
Maybe write what it is that you're feeling like you're really,
Really trusting now.
If you've gotten this far in life,
You've gotten past all of the challenges and the difficulties in your life,
Which means that you can do it again and you will.
Life will constantly challenge you and you'll only be challenged with the obstacles that your truth,
Your essence,
Your being,
Whatever you call it,
Your God,
The Godhead,
Light.
You'll only be challenged with the things that you know you're able to move through.
And that's evolution.
So you're given an opportunity in every exhalation,
Every death,
Every loss to evolve.
And if you sit in story about what you've lost and you sit in story about needing what you had and clinging to the past,
You won't receive.
You won't receive the gifts that you're being given with that exhalation.
So allow yourself to trust.
Beautiful Carla,
Trusting myself more than ever,
Surrendering.
So thank you so much for being here.
I feel so grateful to be sharing my meditations here and to be in a space with people that are so receptive.
I wish I could see all your faces.
And of course,
And it's not at all necessary,
If you feel the desire to donate,
All teachers here on the platform accept donations as a way to give back.
And again,
I do this for you and for me,
And it's just a serving to me to be here.
So I love sharing space.
So always come for these free meditations.
And if there is something in you that does want to give,
It's always accepted,
But it's not necessary.
So wonderful shaft,
Amazing way to start your Sunday.
Me too.
I feel so grateful to be in Mexico.
Mas tarde yo estoy viajando a la playa.
I'm going to go to the beach in a bit and go put myself in the ocean and appreciate Mother Nature more.
I encourage you in those moments where you're grasping on to the inhalation and really needing life to just put your body on the earth or in the sea or in the elements,
Touch the elements,
Take deep breaths and just trust that what you need is coming.
And even in the most difficult of moments,
I'm not saying that we're not going to be in grief,
Loss and death and heartbreak and career change and conflict in relationships.
They're painful.
They're brutal.
So so brutal.
And it's okay for them to be brutal and it's also okay to trust that again,
Goodness will come.
So sending you lots of love.
I hope that you're navigating your lives with ease and beauty and graciousness for the inhalations and the exhalations.
And I look forward to hopefully seeing you again here with me in Mexico in another meditation.
Thank you guys.
