Hello people,

Welcome to this meditation on surrendering to your pain.

Just finding a comfortable and safe space,

Closing our eyes and coming into this very moment.

So let's firstly just pay attention to our breath,

Just to focus our mind a little bit.

And bring ourselves inwards and centre ourselves.

Noticing the rising and falling of the chest.

Noticing if you're breathing through your mouth or through your nose or both.

Noticing the rising and falling of the chest.

And now we're just going to pay attention to our pain.

Noticing at first at a distance.

Being curious about it.

Wherever the pain is in the body at the moment.

Whether it's your right knee or your leg.

Or your back or neck.

Just noticing where it is for you.

Or gently going to zoom our attention into this area.

Going to wherever you feel most comfortable.

And just noticing what sensations are coming up around this pain or this particular area.

And just noticing where it is for you.

And just noticing where it is for you.

What sensations are coming up around this pain or this particular area.

And if you can just sit with this and be curious.

What does it feel like?

What does it feel like?

What does it feel like?

Is it triggering any belief systems?

Is it a stabbing or shooting pain?

Maybe it's quite subtle.

Of course these suggestions don't have to be answered.

They're just suggestions to probe your mind.

Just noticing it how you feel.

And if you wish,

Zooming your attention in further into this pain.

And becoming one with this with a sense of courage and bravery.

Having compassion for the pain.

This pain is still a part of yourself.

Resisting the pain is like adding wood to fire.

It's just going to make the fire bigger and louder.

Changing our perspective on how we see our own pain.

The relationship we have with it.

Noticing the purely physical elements of the pain.

The sensations.

Just being aware if your mind goes elsewhere.

Making up stories about the pain.

These stories are just extensions of the pain.

The sensation itself is not the story.

The sensation is the fundamental aspect of the pain.

Just noticing the sensation on a purely physical level.

Noticing if it ebbs and flows.

Rises and falls.

As the pain is part of you.

Repressing the pain is only repressing yourself.

So now let's just give love to the pain.

Give compassion to the pain and gratefulness for the fact that it's trying to protect our bodies from further damage.

Stimulating the inflammatory response which promotes healing.

The pain is just an evolutionary response in order to keep us safe and well.

Letting go and giving in to the pain and all that comes with it.

Allowing ourselves to become one with it.

Then focusing our attention back on our breath.

Noticing how our whole body feels.

Let's just allow ourselves to have some love for ourselves for turning up to this meditation today.

For being extremely brave and courageous.

For facing the dark and often times repressed side of yourself.

This meditation may not have been comfortable for some people but changing the relationship we have with our pain is letting go of the old and moving on to the new.

With a fresh perspective and a fresh outlook.

Then just coming back and wiggling our toes and moving our body.

Opening our eyes once again,

Going easy on yourself as we come back into this world.

I hope you enjoyed this meditation and learnt a lot about yourself.

Thank you for listening.

I’m very grateful for your guidance. I am currently dealing with acute pain following multiple surgeries, and am sitting in a hospital waiting room using your guidance to set the tone for my appointment. Thank you for generously providing this for us to use.

I experience a lot of chronic pain, and found this meditation helpful in being with that pain in a different way. At times it even seemed a bit less intense than usual, which I was grateful for, because it’s particularly intense today. Thank you for a some new perspectives and some relief.
