Welcome to this body and breath prayer.
We usually tend to pray with our intellects using words and thoughts but we're going to do it differently using our breath and our body.
And so without drumming up something that's very difficult for you I invite you to bring your awareness to something that you might be struggling with at the moment.
Something in the everyday,
Something that you're comfortable with acknowledging.
And we'll call this the challenge.
And as you consider this challenge I want you to notice the way that it makes you feel.
And I want to invite you to explore where in your body do you feel that sensation that's evoked as you bring your mind to the challenge.
Perhaps you can feel it somewhere in your core maybe a tightness maybe it's somewhere up near your throat or maybe you notice your hands are clenched your shoulders are tight.
Just be aware of where in your body you might feel your emotional reaction.
And now we are going to use our breath as a way of praying and so the word breath in the Hebrew and other languages is synonymous with the word spirit.
There's something of a spiritual nature to the breath and so perhaps you're comfortable with seeing the breath as something that can convey spiritual blessing.
Maybe you name that as God or maybe you don't.
But as you breathe in you are breathing in the air around you.
You are breathing in spirit or God's spirit.
And so I invite you to bring your awareness to your breath.
And bring your awareness to the fact that you're inviting something greater than you something good to help you.
And then breathe into that physical part of your body where the more negative emotion is manifest.
Direct your inhalation to that part of your body.
And just stay in that place having an awareness of your breath as a vehicle to invite that which is spiritual maybe even God invite that presence to that part of your being that is the part that is challenged.
So you might want to visualize the route that that breath takes through your mouth down to that part of your body where you feel the tension or difficulty.
So breathe in as a prayer to that place to that thing that challenge and on the exhalation you can let go of those emotions those physical feelings even.
Let go with your exhalation.
Breathing in presence spiritual presence or divine presence and exhaling.
Challenge the emotions back to that presence.
You don't need to use words.
But just use your breath.
And perhaps by inviting this divine presence God's presence to be in you be with you and to relieve you of that challenge.
Perhaps you feel a little more relaxed and are able to let go and know something more of peace and hope.
And so take three more breaths.
Allowing your body to let go.
Allowing spiritual divine God's presence to touch you and help you.
And then you can open your eyes as we end this meditation.
