
Rest Into healing | Yoga Nidra
It is time to rest, deeply rest. So we can restore our physical, emotional and mental body and heal. Do you need to be reminded to slow down, to allow yourself this self-care? Do you need to find trust in the self-healing ability of your beautiful body? Then be still and listen. May you find sweet peace and well-being.

Let your body down and rest your limbs.
Empty your head.
Take a deep breath in and slowly let that go.
Feel all tension melt.
We so much need rest,
Relaxation,
To restore,
To heal.
But I know there are many of us struggling to allow ourselves the time,
The moment for yourself to take care just of you.
I want you to know how vital it is that you rest for your health and well-being and to realize how vital your well-being is to all around.
Do you see how we are all connected to one another?
If you need reasons to drop yourself in this practice of ultimate rest,
Consider this.
Our body has only one source of fuel,
Energy.
And if it is consumed by the mind with worries,
Fears or overwhelming emotions,
There is no energy left for the body to restore itself.
But when our body and mind are truly at rest,
All our prana,
Our vital energy,
Is free and can be used to bring the body back into balance,
To heal.
Now in the state of Yohanidra we experience a deep state of rest and relaxation.
Our body switches from sympathetic arousal to parasympathetic relaxation,
Which means that all of our organs and all of our systems come back into balance and can function optimally.
On top of that,
Our body chemistry changes and beneficial hormones and neurotransmitters are being released,
With impressive names like serotonin,
Oxytocin,
Androfins and melatonin to name a few.
The number and variety of benefits are even more impressive,
Bringing a calm,
Balanced and focused state of mind,
Reduced anxiety and fear,
Positive effect on mood and well-being,
Strengthened immune system,
Better sleep and so much more.
Now we know that stress can have a devastating effect on our well-being and health.
But lesser known maybe is that our idea of the effect of the stress is a crucial factor in how our body responds to that stress.
The more we worry,
The worse the effect.
What if the opposite was the case?
What if we would trust the self-healing ability of our body?
That no matter the stress we are experiencing,
No matter the external circumstances,
We trust that our brilliant body knows how to defend,
Restore and renew itself.
Now take a deep breath in and let that sink in.
Then slowly breathe out.
Take another slow deep breath in and hold it at the top of your breath,
Just for a moment.
And then let go.
Breathe out.
Feel all tension,
All worry.
Flow away.
With every progressive breath,
Feel yourself becoming lighter,
More empty.
Every breath,
Tension flowing away.
Let everything be as it is.
Let your breath just flow as it comes and goes.
Effortless.
Without any doing.
And feel how your body is being breathed.
Let your body go.
Release all the muscles of your body.
Allow your feet to drop to the side.
Release the muscles of your calves,
Thighs and buttocks.
Feel how your legs just weigh down.
Feel the breath flow through your belly,
Opening the chest,
Allowing the back to sink deeper in the surface beneath you.
Let go of your arms and let them just weigh down,
Releasing all the tension from your shoulders and neck.
Let your head rest.
Let it sink down.
Feel how your weight is being carried.
You can let go.
You can release.
You are being held.
Release your jaw and let your tongue rest onto the lower palate of your jaw.
Release all the muscles of your face,
The lips,
Around the nose and eyes,
In between your eyebrows,
The forehead.
As as your face is covered by a soft blanket.
Opening the skin of the face and scalp to the neck,
Down the whole body,
Shoulders and arms to the tips of the fingers,
Down the chest and back,
All the way down the legs to the soles of the feet.
Allow your body to rest.
Feel your body opening up,
Softening,
Sinking down.
Witness a deep sense of stillness,
Expanding everywhere.
Maintaining this inner stillness,
Adjust your body if needed to be warm and comfortable.
From now on,
Remain relaxed,
Emotionless,
Alert and conscious.
Stay with the guidance of my voice at all times.
Become aware of a sensation of heaviness in the whole body.
Feel the feet heavy,
Sinking down like a stone.
Legs solid and heavy.
Whole upper body being pulled deeper into the earth.
Arms weighing down heavily.
Head solid like a rock,
Weighing down.
Whole body heavy,
Sinking.
Let go of all resistance and surrender to the power of gravity.
Feel the earth pulling you closer.
Experience your whole body heavy like a rock.
Feel your whole body sinking deeper and deeper.
Give in to the pull of gravity.
Totally let go.
Sinking deeper and deeper into stillness and silent awareness.
Now shift your attention and let all the heaviness drain away.
Let your body be light and weightless,
Floating like a cloud.
Feet and legs hollow,
Empty,
Floating.
Belly and chest open and spacious.
Light.
Head empty.
Light.

Space.
Feel your whole body empty,
Light and spacious.
Sense the emptiness of your body and silence of your mind.
Be free of all limitations and boundaries of your body and mind,
Past and future.
Become aware of the sensation of your breath as the breath flows in and out of your body.
Feel the breath flowing up and down.
Moving up with every inhalation,
Sinking down with every exhalation.
Feel how your breath flows along your spine,
Traveling up your spine on the inhale,
Moving down the spine on the exhale.
Feel every breath flowing up the spine and down the spine.
Then visualize a golden light moving along with the breath.
Inhalation golden light moving up the spine.
Inhalation down the spine.
Golden light flowing with the breath.
Up and down the spine.
Intensify your imagination and visualize the spine lit up by this golden light.
And with your breath the light expands throughout your whole body.
It travels through all these little energy channels,
Flowing into the arms all the way to the tips of your fingers.
Golden light filling the whole upper body,
Flowing through your legs all the way to the soles of the feet.
Golden light flowing into the head.
Whole body being lit up by this golden light.
Sense the light and energy pulsating through the body,
Radiating outside your physical body,
Leaving an aura of light around you.
Whole body pulsating with healing light and energy,
Radiating all around.
Allow yourself to sink and merge into this light,
Into this stillness,
Into this peace.
Now that I have entered the deepest levels of letting go,
I have entered a complete state of synergy and balance.
I am completely relaxed and at peace with my body,
My mind,
The world as it is.
Allow these words to be absorbed by your whole being.
With all channels opened and blocks removed,
The life force energy flows freely,
Revitalizing all functions and systems of my body.
As I rest back,
The healing blueprint of my body is restored.
I trust in the self-healing ability of my body and direct all energy to its resource.
I drop all anxiety and fear and replace it with faith and trust.
I am whole,
Healthy and healed.
Know that it is heard and acted upon.
There is nothing you have to do as to rest in silent awareness.
Even in this stillness,
Become aware of your breath,
The gentle flow of your breath.
Feel the chest and belly rise and fall.
Feel yourself rising more to the surface of awareness,
Becoming aware of your body,
Space around you.
Allow your breath to gently wake you up.
As if you were waking from a deep sleep.
Feel where the breath wakes up your body first.
Bring back the movement into that part.
It might be a little wiggle of your fingers or toes.
And then feel how your body wants to wake up.
You might want to take a big stretch or maybe curl up,
Lie on your side.
And as you are resting,
Connect to this deep sense of peace and wholeness you feel.
Carry this feeling with you as this session comes to an end.
