The disciple,

Being a Jew,

Approached the master with a sincere question,

What righteous deeds should I perform to find favor with God?

With a hint of humor,

The master replied,

Why should I know?

Your Bible tells of how Abraham's hospitality brought God's presence to him.

Elias found God through devoted prayer,

And David,

As a king,

Also had God with him.

Seeking further guidance,

The disciple inquired,

Is there a way for me to discover my own path of good work?

The master's response was profound yet simple,

Certainly.

Look deep into your heart,

Seek the most profound inclination within you,

And then follow it with all your heart.
