We begin with a short awareness practice, followed by insights into the connection between energy and leadership. You’ll leave with simple, powerful tools to embody conscious leadership in your day.

Take a moment to pause.
Feel into the energy you're bringing into this space right now.
Is it calm,
Rushed,
Heavy,
Light?
Today's session is about this invisible but powerful force,
Your energy.
Because whether we realise it or not,
Our energy is our message.
It influences how others feel around us,
It sets the tone in a room,
It either invites trust and alignment or adds to the noise.
In this session I begin with a short practice to become aware of your energy.
Then I share key insights into your energy and conscious leadership and answer some questions from the live audience.
Welcome to this live with Nick Chung.
I am a conscious leadership mentor and coach for those of you who want to create a deeper impact with the work that you do.
So today we're talking about your energy as your unspoken message.
Your energy affects those around you and it creates a culture or a feeling in the organisation that you work with.
So it's something that's really important for you to know about and also learn how to regulate that.
So let's start today with a little bit of an awareness exercise.
So if you're able to,
Close your eyes down and just take a moment to go inwards.
Go inwards.
And what I mean is,
All of those thoughts about what you have to do for the rest of your day today,
Any thoughts about the past,
Just ignore those for now and start to reflect inwards.
Turn your attention inside.
And if you're having trouble with the thoughts,
Start to notice your breath.
And this is a really quick and easy way for you to turn your attention to this very moment in time.
To the now.
So taking a few moments just to turn inwards.
To turn your gaze from the outside world to your inner landscape.
And start to become aware of the energy that you have residing in you right now.
And some of you may feel this as a physical sensation.
So perhaps your energy is manifesting in tight shoulders or a vibration a tingling sensation or a fluttering.
Or perhaps the physical sensation is grounded and still.
Others of you may become aware of your energy on an emotional level.
So as you have turned your attention inwards and away from the outside world for now,
There may be emotions that have been hidden by all the things that you do on the outside.
And now they are having a chance to be seen.
And others of you may feel your energy on a different level.
And this may just be a knowing of what energy you hold.
A knowing,
A deeper sense of the energy that you are holding.
Of the energy that you are emitting.
So where is your energy?
And what is your energy?
So where can be defined as is it still outside thinking of all the things that need to be done or had been done?
Is your energy scattered in the thoughts directed in the outside world?
And what is your energy?
Specifically what is the quality of it?
Is your energy calm?
Collected?
Grounded?
Open?
Or is it frazzled?
Scattered?
Shaky?
Or is it bold?
Robust?
The words don't matter so much.
It is more of your own knowing of the energy that you hold.
And the energy that you hold is also the energy you emit.
And that energy is felt by those around you.
And this feeling may be subtle or it may be in their face.
It's no matter for now.
Become aware of your energy.
And if your energy is something that you would prefer to change,
You feel like it's not serving you,
Then tune into the breath.
And start to make the breath deep and long.
And as you do that,
Relax the body.
Take away tension from the physical body.
And perhaps you also bring a smile,
A gentle smile to your face.
And you may want to visualise a calm,
Steady light radiating out from the centre of your chest.
And first it warms you.
It warms every nook and cranny of your body.
It warms every area of your energy that exists further than the physical body.
And as it warms your energetic field,
It also starts to influence the people around you.
Influence and uplift those who also need light.
And take a few more moments just to expand your energetic field.
To expand your energy outwards.
First taking care of yourself.
And naturally affecting others.
With this radiating light,
This radiating energy or feel,
That is emitting from within you.
And when you're ready,
Gently opening your eyes.
And going about the rest of your day.
And perhaps the rest of your day,
Or at least some of it,
Will be with me here now.

So you've joined me today and we're talking about your energy.
Your energy as your unspoken message.
And we just did a very quick energy awareness and regulation exercise.
And as you may have gathered,
Your energy is more than just your physical feeling,
Your emotional landscape.
It's a deeper well that is emitting from you.
Now I like to think of it like this.
Have you ever walked into a room and you can feel something is off?
Nothing needs to be said but you can just feel it.
Something's weird here.
Hands up if you've done that.
Or maybe you go and meet a friend.
And there's something about that friend that just makes you instantly feel good.
They're a really good person to be around.
They make you feel good.
And it's not necessarily about what they say or what they do.
It's their energy.
So this is what we're chatting about today.
It's that maybe,
Hopefully it's going to become conscious now,
But perhaps it's been unconscious for you.
That there is an energetic frequency or an omission that you have within you that influences those around you.
And influences how they perceive you as well.
Okay,
So let's talk about your energy as your unspoken message.
Your energy is often felt more immediately than words.
It's that vibration,
It's that feeling that you get from someone or an atmosphere.
So we want to make sure that the energy that we have or that we are emitting can create connection in our conversations or in our leadership.
And this is why emotions and energy often get mixed together.
Because your emotions can really influence the kind of connection that we can make with people.
They don't have to,
And that's for another life.
Your energy and emotions are separate things,
But they can do.
So we want to make sure that whatever that energy,
That energetic resonance that you tapped into before,
In the meditation or should I say the awareness exercise that we just did,
We want to make sure that that landscape there,
That inner deeper well of your energy is calm,
Collected,
Grounded,
Clear,
And maybe big.
A little bit big.
So we're talking to you,
Leaders.
Yes,
Sometimes we need to keep our energy enclosed and within ourselves to take care of ourselves.
But if we want to have influence,
We need to make that bigger.
So that's why I said at the very end of that awareness exercise,
I was talking about seeing your energetic field as being bigger than your physical body,
Which it is,
And then growing that.
So we can create connection without our words.
And we can create connection through this kind of invisible feeling that people get from being in our presence.
And of course,
These things are also supported by our physical cues,
Our body cues.
So lots of people in leadership talk about body cues.
You smile,
You show your hands on Zooms or Lives to make sure that you trust me.
There's lots of things you can do with your physical body to create that connection.
But you can do this without the physicality,
Without the words.
And that is what we're tapping into today.
So we want to make sure that that energy that we have underlying our emotions and our physicality is one of connection.
One of,
You can even just say love.
Because the root of all the things that we're doing here today to create empowerment,
To create an authentic and uplifting cultural standard for workplaces,
Underneath that all is really about showing love to your fellow person.
So we want that energy to be the resonating thing that emits from us,
The core feeling that we have within ourselves.
And some people will say,
Yeah,
Maybe it's not love,
But it might be joy or it might be peace.
Any one of those is good.
You get where I'm going with this.
So energy is that felt resonance,
That felt almost intention that underlies the physicality and the emotions and the mental chatter that may be happening.
So it's below the surface of all of those things.
And I like to think of this place where we can cultivate our energy as a place you can go to that is steady,
That is calm.
And that is a resource that despite how you are feeling on a physical or emotional level,
It is constantly there.
And I call that place my place of joy.
You can call it your place of love or peace or calm or whatever it is here.
It doesn't matter.
The words are irrelevant.
So long as you're going deep enough within you,
Beyond the ego,
To this place that all of us have,
Where we have the capacity to show compassion and kindness and we are creating genuine,
Authentic and empowering connections with others.
So now can you see how your energy is your unspoken message?
It goes beyond your words.
It goes beyond your physical demonstrations.
And it's a felt presence that you have.
But you do need to work on it.
So the next part that I'd like to talk to you about is how to regulate your energy state.
So we did something simple today.
And the first part was bringing awareness to what your current state is with no judgment.
I want to make that really clear.
Everything that we do when we're becoming more conscious,
When we're becoming more aware,
Is done with zero judgment,
Right?
Because where does judgment come from?
Judgment comes from the ego.
And the ego likes to tell us that we're good or we're bad.
And that's a mistake because the ego likes to also keep us the same.
And so it'll make judgments based on that criteria.
So whatever way,
Whether you're good or bad,
The ego's job is to keep you exactly the same as you are now because that is safe.
But as a conscious leader,
You're here to grow.
You're here to grow not only yourself but your influence in the world and to make really positive change and impact on the world.
And so we do this practice,
This practice of awareness of our energy with no judgment.
Where am I at currently?
And it's a really honest assessment of that.
And then at the end,
I invited you to change your energy with the awareness of breath and your physicality because they support that.
If it was something that was not preferable to you in this moment,
If it did not serve your higher intention and your higher intention or your vision or your mission is to create this positive change in the world,
Starting with your workplace.
So if it was not in alignment with that,
Then I invited you to change that.
So how to regulate your energy state is two steps.
One is awareness and then is using a practice that works for you because there are so many practices out there that can help you to tap into that deeper well.
That deeper well that is beyond the emotions,
That is beyond the physicality but is supported by that.
So we get to support our energetic resonance with physical tools and mental tools or emotional tools.
But they're not the end point.
We're trying to go deeper into ourselves,
Deeper into our inner landscape to ignite and become aware and expand that which is within all of us and that which is available to all of us,
Which is that deeper connection of love or joy or peace or whatever it is that you name it.
So we can regulate it like that,
First awareness and then using one of your tools that works for you.
Okay,
So we've talked about how to regulate your energy state.
We've talked about your energy as your unspoken message.
And the last part is really about embodying this.
So this is what I mean about your energy being more than just the physical actions and the emotions that you may have.
Because it really is talking about the embodiment of practices.
And in this case of energy,
We're really talking about embodying that which you want to be.
So as a conscious leader,
And I'm currently at the last stages of writing a book about conscious leadership,
And it goes very much into the embodiment part.
But quickly,
As a conscious leader,
You decide what are the values,
What are the things that you want to adopt that would make you a better fit for creating the kind of impact that you want.
That will change for everyone.
And then when we talk about that in terms of energy,
Your energy will change based on the amount that you have embodied those values and live by them or those characteristics.
So your energy is really contingent upon the amount of embodiment that you have had with the values or the characteristics that you want to bring through in your leadership.
So let me give you a slightly more concrete example.
Say,
For example,
You want to be more authentic.
And you say this,
And you act authentic.
Yeah,
You try as much as possible to act authentically.
You adopt an emotion that is maybe confident,
So you can be more authentic.
But underneath that,
You're not really believing it,
Right?
Because you haven't quite embodied it.
It's still very much a mental process for you.
Now,
That's the start.
But when we start talking about energy,
It becomes less of a mental process,
And it becomes your automatic,
Your new you,
Your habitual way of being.
And when it becomes your habitual way of being,
We call that embodied.
And when you're in the embodied state of authenticity,
It's not something that you have to try to strive for.
It is what you are.
And it's how people perceive you.
They'll go,
Ah,
She's really authentic.
Yeah,
There's something about her that just makes her really authentic.
Right?
So that's an example.
Now,
Authenticity might not be on your list of values or characteristics that you want to embody to create the kind of change that you want to create.
But that's the example,
Right?
So you can take that with any of the lists of things that you have that you know you need to work on.
And just know that your energy is going to be contingent upon the amount of embodiment that you have with that.
So I want to encourage you,
Even if it sounds hard for you right now to do that,
Remember that everything that we're doing in life is a practice.
You're not going to be perfect right off the bat.
And these things take time.
There's no quick hack for this.
So whatever it is that you're working on for yourself in terms of becoming a better leader,
This is your first step of changing that energetic resonance that you have.
And keep going,
Because you can do it.
So today we talked about your energy speaks louder than words,
And you have the power to regulate it.
And when you do,
You inspire others to work on their growth.
You inspire confidence and trust and calm.
And those things really make an impact to people.
Whether you are physically doing something or using your words,
You don't even need to do that.
And you will have an influence upon the people that are around you.

Hmm.
I would say my book when it comes out.
But that's a bit too soon.
I will say there are a few things that I have on energy on Insight Timer.
I've been doing this for over 10 years now.
How I learned about it was through these kind of spiritual practices that have allowed me to tap into energy.
I have been doing them on a physical level.
So I've done conscious dance,
And that really helped me to tap into energy.
I also have a background in psychology,
So I've worked a lot with the mind,
And done more science-based practices that have then led me deeper to think about my energetic resonance.
That's a really good question.
I don't have one,
Like,
The best one resource to study.
But I would say now,
Because you've asked,
And I believe in this,
If you ask the universe for what you want,
I want to know more about energy stuff.
Can you please show me?
You're going to hit people who have that resource for you.
So just trust that.
Allow yourself to flow into the information.
But there are some more things about energy on my Insight Timer.
There are a few lives,
And there are a few meditations specifically to tap into your energy.
So you can just start to get a feel.
And to be honest,
When we talk about energy,
It's a thing that I find difficult to describe because it is beyond our words.
And that sounds like a cop-out.
But it more is a feeling,
A deep feeling.
And I'm not saying feeling in an emotional way.
I'm saying feeling from a knowing place.
And so the more that you can maybe look at practices that allow you to go deeper within yourself,
Beyond your physical and beyond your emotional,
Then you're going to start learning and having an embodied feeling,
An embodied experience about what energy is.
Does that answer your question?
Probably not as satisfactory as you want.
Okay,
I think I need to work on boundaries while giving.
Oh yeah,
Good one.
I can give too much,
Which can be overwhelming.
Great comment.
And this might be applicable to other people who are on here.
So thank you for sharing.
Boundaries are very important about giving.
And this is also why when we did our practice right at the start,
The first part was about you first,
Right?
Containing that energy for you first.
Lighting yourself up,
You first.
And then expanding out to the rest of your field that exists beyond your physical body.
And then the overflow of that goes to others,
Yeah?
So sometimes we don't need boundaries.
We just need to make sure we're topping ourselves up first before we can give.
Does that make sense?
So you know yourself best.
Perhaps you do need more boundaries.
But perhaps the flip side of that is perhaps you just need to give to yourself first fully.
And then from the overflow give.
How have your clients responded to this practice?
They're great.
They love it.
It's something new for them.
Because obviously I'm working in a space now that is with businesses,
Organizations that are perhaps not so much into the woo-woo thing.
And we're not necessarily going to dive straight into energetic fields.
But a lot of people understand when you say energy is that feeling you get when you go into a room and you know that something's wrong.
They're like,
Yeah,
What is that thing?
It's a feeling,
But it's kind of more than a feeling.
So if you can kind of go in with something like a story that connects them to that feeling,
That's easier than trying to explain it.
And then as I said before,
Giving someone an experience of how to feel their energy,
How to connect with that,
Is far more effective than trying to talk your way through explaining what it is.
