Welcome to today's Yoga Nidra practice.

Find yourself a quiet space and prepare for practice,

Taking time to create the most comfortable space for you today.

Finding warmth,

Finding comfort,

Finding stillness.

Lay on your back if possible,

Perhaps tucking yourself in with blankets or covers.

You may like to use an eye mask and maybe support the back of your head with a low pillow or behind your knees for additional back support.

Whatever it takes for you to find the most comfort possible.

And take all the time you need to prepare here.

This preparation is the first step toward entering your inner meeting place where you are met exactly as you are,

Where you are welcomed exactly as you are.

And when you are ready,

Close down your eyes and begin to let the external world just fade away.

Let everything outside go and come inside to this present moment.

Take a long inhale through your nose and then sigh it out gently through your mouth,

Allowing everything from your day to dissolve away.

Another long inhale in through your nose and invite your breath to land deep in your belly.

Then sigh it out,

Sound it out,

Let everything go.

One last inhale through your nose and this time as you exhale,

Feel all the tension,

All the stress,

Everything you've been carrying,

Let it all be released and breathe it away.

And allow your breath now to just return to its natural rhythmic state,

Breathing in and out of your nose if possible,

Letting your body breathe itself.

The Bhagavad Gita reminds us that yoga is the journey of the self,

Through the self,

To the self.

And Yoga Nidra offers us the opportunity to make this journey in a state of awakened,

Conscious sleep.

So make a resolve to stay awake through today's practice and a resolve to accept whatever comes up for you in today's practice.

Remembering this is your practice.

Be open and receive what speaks to you and gently release the rest.

Allow your body to grow heavy,

To soften,

Let your muscles loosen and surrender fully to the surface beneath you,

To the support beneath you.

Be supported,

Be held and with your awareness now,

Sense your whole body,

Your whole body lying here at rest and yield to the sweet awareness of the present.

Encompassing everything,

Encapsulating everything and just rest in the stillness within.

Staying within,

Bring your awareness to the sensation of touch inside your body,

In the safe haven of your body,

Beneath your skin.

Feel a sensation of touch on your body,

Your clothes,

The covers over you,

The air.

Be aware of all these sensations of touch without engagement,

Only awareness.

Now move your awareness to your eyes,

Softly resting behind your closed eyelids.

Watch as you perhaps see from within,

Residual shapes or colors,

Echoes from the external world.

Allow your awareness to now move to sound,

Go to your gateways of sound and widen your ears,

Allowing your hearing to receive all the sounds around you.

These frequencies in space,

Alive in your senses.

Be aware of all the sounds around you without engagement,

Only awareness.

And then allow all this awareness to be released.

Close the gateways to your external world and prepare to take the path within.

The path within starts in your heart space.

Breathe here,

Softly and feel an opening,

An unfolding,

Like petals of the most precious flower opening up toward the light of the sun.

And let your Sankalpa be born from this place.

Your Sankalpa,

Your heart's deepest desire.

When we soften into stillness,

We create the space to be able to hear the quietest whispers of our heart.

Your alignment to your highest truth,

Your truest self.

Starting with the words,

I am,

Prepare your Sankalpa in your heart and in the space that follows,

Repeat this statement to yourself,

Silently seeding your deepest intention three times.

And then let your Sankalpa take root.

Let it be embedded in the gentle,

Fertile soil of your heart.

Let it be embedded in your heart.

We begin the rotation of consciousness.

As you journey around your body,

Moving your attention to each of the different body parts you hear named,

Meet each part of your body without engagement,

Only awareness,

Trusting it will all happen for you.

Following the Satyananda tradition,

We begin at the right hand.

Bring your full awareness onto your right hand thumb and the very tip of your right hand thumb.

First finger,

Second finger,

Third finger,

And your little finger.

Then take your awareness to the spaces between your thumb and all your fingers,

The palm of your hand,

The back of your hand,

Your right wrist,

Lower arm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

And shoulder.

Your right collarbone,

The right side of your chest,

To your hip,

Your upper leg,

Your knee,

Your lower leg,

To your ankle.

Take your awareness now to the sole of your right foot,

Arriving at the tip of your right big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe,

And little toe,

All the spaces between your toes.

Moving your awareness now to your left hand and to the tip of your left hand thumb,

The tip of your first finger,

Second finger,

Third finger,

And little finger,

And the spaces between your thumb and all your fingers.

The palm of your hand,

The back of your hand,

Your left wrist,

Lower arm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

And shoulder,

Your left collarbone,

And the left side of your chest,

Your hip,

Your upper leg,

Knee,

And lower leg,

Your left ankle,

Sole of foot,

Arriving with full awareness at the tip of your left big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe,

And little toe.

All the spaces between your toes.

Moving your awareness now to your back body,

Your heels,

Your calves,

The backs of your knees,

The backs of your thighs,

To your glutes,

Your lower back,

Middle back,

Upper back,

The whole of your back,

The whole of your back.

Travel your awareness now up the nape of your neck to your head and feel your head softening further now,

Becoming heavy and weighted.

Further now,

Arrive at the crown of your head and breathe here.

Over to your forehead,

Wide and soft,

Your right eyebrow and left eyebrow,

And the space between your eyebrows.

Move your full awareness here and breathe.

Your temples,

Right and left,

All tension gone,

To your right ear and your left ear,

Your eyes,

Right and left,

Cradled in the soft darkness behind your eyelids,

Feel the connection of each and every eyelash with your skin,

Allowing them to rest in the soft silence of your awareness.

Moving to your lips,

Top and bottom,

And the space or the connection between the two.

Your jaw,

Heavy and loose,

The tip of your tongue and the root of your tongue,

The inside of your right cheek and the inside of your left cheek.

Your whole face,

Your whole head,

Releasing softly to a deeper,

Deeper rest.

Allow your awareness to travel now down your throat to the pits of your throat.

Breathe here.

The right side of your chest and the left side of your chest,

Your whole right arm and your whole left arm,

Your whole right leg and your whole left leg,

Your whole body,

Your whole body,

Your whole body.

Now move your attention to the base of your spine,

Breathe into the base of your spine and imagine your next breath rising up from the left side of the base of your spine and begin to weave it like a growing vine from its root crossing your spine just below your navel over again at your solar plexus and at your heart space to the centre of your throat and then breathe it up to the centre of your eyebrows and then on your exhale allow your breath to fall back down the centre of your spinal column like a waterfall of energy,

Pure energising prana and continue in your own time with your own breath,

Weaving your inhale up and around your spine all the way to the centre of your eyebrows,

Cascading back down with your exhale along the centre of your spine.

Trust your breath to lead where it needs to go,

Bringing a cooling,

Calming energy.

Now switch your inhale to come from the right side of the base of your spine and begin to weave it just below your navel over again at your solar plexus and at your heart to your throat,

Breathing it up to the centre of your eyebrows and again on your exhale allow your breath to fall back down the centre of your spine all the way back down to its root.

Continue to take your time to breathe here with a rhythm of your own unique breath,

Continuing to trust your breath knowing it will lead where it needs to go.

This time inviting a warming invigorating energy.

Now move your awareness and attention once again to the base of your spine and imagine a warm glowing light here,

Glowing like a golden ember.

With each inhale now feel this light gently illuminating the spine from within and with each exhale releasing the body to relax back deeper and deeper into stillness and rest.

On your next inhale visualize your breath and your golden light moving up your spine from the very base all the way to the crown of your head.

Balancing the cooling calming energy of Ida and the warming invigorating energy Pingala,

Allow your breath to move up and down the main nadi of your body Shashumna.

Your energy Prana,

Your vital life force rising up from the root of your spine to Sahasrara at the crown of your head and then on your exhale let your breath fall back down again cascading pulsating revitalizing and balancing your Prana.

Let it flow naturally effortlessly breathe.

As you next inhale you might like to hold your breath briefly at the crown feeling a sense of light and expansion at the top of your head and then slowly exhale your light back down your spine like a flowing luminous river all the way back down from the crown of your head to the very root of your spine.

Let it flow naturally effortlessly breathe.

And then return to your natural breath just observe the flow of energy inside the energy and the light moving outwards from your spine to your whole body now.

Feel a subtle pulsing of energy in your whole body and welcome a sense of expansion here as you rest in energy and light illuminated radiant.

Bring your awareness and your full attention back to your body once again lying here in this space.

Feel all the places where your body is resting on the ground all the places your body is connected with the ground.

You might start to notice your body beginning to absorb the stability of the ground beneath you.

The assuredness of the ground its support for you allowing you to sink deeper and deeper onto its support as all the while you rest in the expansion and luminosity of your light.

Be still and receive.

Moving your awareness now to the space between your eyebrows.

See in your mind's eye a soft indigo blue light begin to pulsate here and welcome whatever may arise observing any lights colors or sensations that might emerge.

Trust the process trust the practice.

Move behind this to trikuti.

Tri meaning three,

Kuti meaning point or corner.

Here is the three-fold junction of the primary nadis.

Ida,

The left lunar energy channel,

Pingala,

The right solar energy channel and Shishumna,

The central spiritual channel.

Their currents now meeting and flowing freely seamlessly here opening the gateway where duality dissolves.

The threshold of awakening.

Allow your mind to become completely still like a tranquil lake in the darkness and begin to seek a pure white light now.

See it shining like the full moon illuminating the darkness.

A solitary eternal light glistening on the stillness of your mind.

Shining pure consciousness into your being.

Atma jyoti,

The inner radiant light within.

And know this light is not separate from you.

This is the light of your true self,

The silent infinite source of all creation.

Be immersed in this light.

Be enveloped in this light.

The light of your being.

The light of yourself.

Now,

Go to its source.

Take your awareness to the back of your head near where the skull curves down.

Behind Ajna,

Your third eye and beneath Sahasrara,

Your crown,

Turbindi,

The seed,

The cosmic point of all energy and existence.

And like nectar,

Drop into this place.

Surrender.

Allow yourself to go beyond.

Be reminded of the words of Ramana Maharshi.

There is a place beyond time and space,

Beyond the mind and senses,

Where we meet the self.

This is the meeting place.
