Yoga Nidra | Everything Is Energy | Conscious Deep Rest
by Kate Rock
This Yoga Nidra practice invites you into conscious deep rest, where the body relaxes fully, and awareness remains gently awake. Through guided relaxation, breath awareness, and subtle imagery, you are invited to experience yourself as energy in motion, beyond the physical body. The nervous system is supported to settle, the mind softens, and deeper layers of awareness open naturally. Practice lying down in a comfortable position where you can remain still. There is nothing to do and nowhere to go. Simply listen and rest. May this practice support deep relaxation, balance, and a gentle remembering of your true nature.
Transcript
Welcome to today's practice of Yoga Nidra.
Lie down in Shavasana and make your body really comfortable.
Really,
Really comfortable.
So comfortable that you will not need to move for the duration of practice.
Feet falling gently outwards,
Arms slightly away from the body,
Palms facing upward.
Let your spine be straight and your body symmetrical.
Gently close your eyes if that feels comfortable to you.
Relax your body.
Let go to this present moment.
This time is for you.
Release all tension.
Allow your muscles to relax,
Your bones to be heavy.
Just let everything go.
Soften your jaw,
Your tongue,
All the muscles of your face.
Just let go.
And feel the natural weight of your body sinking down onto the floor,
The earth supporting you completely.
Yoga Nidra is a state of conscious,
Deep relaxation.
The body sleeps,
But your consciousness remains awake and aware.
You're not trying to concentrate.
There is no effort.
Just simply follow the guidance with the ease of your attention.
Thoughts may come and go.
Sensations may arise and fade.
And don't resist any experience.
Simply be a witness and remain a witness.
From this moment on,
Allow your body to be still.
Remain physically still and mentally alert.
All will unfold as it should.
Yoga Nidra works at levels deeper than the thinking mind.
At the most fundamental level,
The body is not solid.
The breath,
The heartbeat,
The nervous system,
All the thoughts in our mind.
These are all expressions of movement and vibration.
What we call the physical world is a condensed form of energy.
What we call awareness is the most refined expression of energy.
Everything is energy.
As Yoga Nanda reminds us,
Your body is made of energy.
Your thoughts are energy.
Consciousness directs this energy.
In this practice,
You are invited to experience this through sensation,
Breath and awareness.
To experience that everything is energy.
Invite your full awareness now inward.
Directing each and every sensation inside.
Notice how sounds dissolve.
How sight quietens.
Touch fades.
As all your energy turns within.
Now gently bring to mind your Sankalpa,
Your personal resolve.
A short positive statement expressed in the present tense.
And when it is clear,
Repeat it mentally,
Silently to yourself three times.
With full awareness and with full feeling.
Now release your Sankalpa,
Trusting that it has been planted in the deeper layers of your mind.
Bring your awareness now to your right hand and your right hand thumb.
Index finger.
Middle finger.
Ring finger and little finger.
The palm of your hand.
The back of your hand.
Your right wrist.
Forearm.
Elbow.
Upper arm and shoulder.
Armpit.
The right side of your waist.
Right hip.
Thigh.
Knee.
Calf and ankle.
Heel.
Sole of foot.
Top of foot.
Your right big toe.
Second toe.
Third toe.
Fourth toe.
And little toe.
Now bring your awareness to your left hand and to your left hand thumb.
Index finger.
Middle finger.
Ring finger and little finger.
The palm of your hand.
The back of your hand.
Your left wrist.
Forearm.
Elbow.
Upper arm and shoulder.
Armpit.
Your left waist.
Hip.
Thigh.
Knee.
Calf.
Ankle.
Heel.
Sole of foot.
Top of foot.
Your left big toe.
Second toe.
Third toe.
Fourth toe.
And little toe.
Now bring your awareness to the back of your body.
Your right heel.
Left heel.
Right calf.
Left calf.
Right back of thigh.
Left back of thigh.
Right buttock.
Left buttock.
Lower back.
Middle back.
Upper back.
Right shoulder blade.
Left shoulder blade.
The back of your neck.
To the back of your head.
The back of your head.
Allow your head to relax and let go.
Moving your attention now to the crown of your head and to your forehead.
Your right eyebrow.
Your left eyebrow.
And the space between your eyebrows.
Your right eye and your left eye.
Your right temple and left temple.
Your right ear and your left ear.
Right cheek and left cheek.
Your nose and the very tip of your nose.
Your mouth.
Your whole mouth.
Your tongue lying heavy in the base of your mouth.
Your teeth and your jaw.
Let your jaw go.
Your whole face softening.
Your whole face letting go.
Bring your awareness now to your throat and to your right collarbone and left collarbone.
The right side of your chest and the left side of your chest.
The centre of your chest.
Your upper abdomen and your navel.
Your lower abdomen.
Your right hip,
Left hip.
The whole of your right leg and the whole of your left leg.
The whole of your right arm and the whole of your left arm.
Your whole body.
From the top to the bottom.
The right to the left.
The inside out.
Your whole body connected with your awareness.
Now bring awareness to your natural breath.
Do not change the breath.
Only observe it.
Feel the breath at your nostrils.
Cool on inhalation.
Warm on exhalation.
Feel your breath in your chest.
The rising and the falling.
Feel your breath in your abdomen.
Expanding and softening.
Now feel the breath as one continuous wave of movement.
Breath as energy in motion.
Each inhalation brings energy in.
Each exhalation balances it throughout your entire body.
Now your awareness moves from the physical body,
Anamaya Kosha,
Into the energy body,
Pranamaya Kosha.
The Pranamaya Kosha is the field of vital life force.
It's the electrical current behind every heartbeat.
Every nerve impulse.
Every breath.
Not solid.
Here is movement.
Vibration.
Motion.
Flow.
Feel this energy in your hands.
Feel that subtle tingling,
A pulsing or warmth.
Feel it in your feet.
Feel it gently circulating throughout your entire body.
Feel the energy move in rhythm with your breath.
Drawing in on inhalation and balancing throughout your whole body on each and every exhalation.
Now become aware of this energy surrounding your body,
Extending softly beyond the skin in all direction.
The physical body is the structure.
The Pranamaya Kosha is the current of life that animates it.
Be aware of this energy.
Be aware of your energy.
Allow this awareness of your energy to expand,
Your body feeling spacious,
Open,
Wide,
As if awareness itself is extending outward without any limitation.
And then feel contraction.
Feel your body draw your energy in toward yourself,
Contained,
Compact.
Expansion and contraction.
Contraction and expansion.
Notice how your body is lying here at rest.
Silent and unmoving.
Resting in stillness.
And then witness a subtle vibration of energy in your body,
A fine inner pulsing,
As if your entire body is gently humming.
And move your awareness now between these two states of being,
Stillness and movement.
Movement and stillness.
And then let go of both.
Remembering all opposites are expressions of the same unified field of energy.
Rest in this space,
Beyond the either and the or,
Above the this and the that.
Rest in the awareness of all there is.
Opposites are two sides of the same.
Allow images now to arise spontaneously.
Imagine in your mind's eye a clear blue sky.
A burning candle.
A flowing river.
A mountain peak.
The full moon.
A bird in flight.
A thunderstorm.
A calm lake at dawn.
The sea at night.
Your reflection in still water.
Now visualize a vast silent darkness.
In the center of this space,
A single point of light appears.
It pulses gently,
Rhythmically.
With each pulse,
Waves of energy radiate outward.
The point becomes a glowing sphere.
The sphere expands into countless stars.
See a universe made entirely of pulsating energy.
Now see the sun,
A radiance of power and heat.
Its energy streaming endlessly into space.
Now see the earth,
Floating in this vast field.
A living hub of movement and vibration.
Now feel that same cosmic energy within your own body.
Your breath moves because of it.
Your heart beats because of it.
Now visualize a luminous sun in your heart center.
With each inhalation,
It grows brighter.
With each exhalation,
It radiates through your entire body.
Beyond your body,
Into all space.
Rest here in the experience of being a field of living energy.
Remain in awareness.
Awareness without form.
Awareness without effort.
Awareness as awareness itself.
Remembering the words of Albert Einstein,
Everything is energy and that's all there is to it.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed.
It only changes form.
You are not separate.
You are part of the whole.
A unique expression of an eternal field.
Rest in your unique expression of this energy.
Rest in yourself and know that you are whole.
Now recall your sankalpa once more.
Recall it and repeat it three times.
Slowly and with full feeling to yourself.
As though placing it into the deepest layer of awareness within.
Trust it will unfold.
Return awareness now to your natural breath.
Feel the inhale and the exhale.
Feel the balance within your entire body.
Return awareness to your physical being resting here.
Feel the points of contact with the earth.
Become aware of the sounds in the room and the space around you.
Begin gentle movements of your fingers and toes.
Maybe a slow rotation of your wrists and ankles.
And maybe stretch your arms overhead and take a full breath in.
Whatever feels good to bring you back into your body.
Here into this space.
Back into your world.
Observe the energy and quality of your mind.
Notice how calm you feel.
How spacious and how vibrant.
Your rested replenished self returning fully now.
And take a moment to feel gratitude for your body that carries you.
Your breath that sustains you.
And the mystery of life that holds you.
Welcome back to your world.
And may the peace which passes all understanding keep your heart and your mind in the knowledge and presence of love.
This practice of Yoga Nidra is now complete.
Thank you so much for taking the time to practice today.
