This is a guided meditation designed to help you reconnect with your body's natural ability to relax.

The great thing about this recording is that you don't actually need to do anything.

Just find a comfortable place to lie down and let my words guide you into a deep state of calm and relaxation.

So when you're ready then,

Just finding a cosy spot to lie down,

Maybe on a yoga mat or a rug.

Taking all the time that you need to get settled in,

There's no rush.

You might also find a thin cushion for your head that might be supportive for your neck.

And feel free to pause this recording if you need to take a moment to get set up.

Checking in with your body and just making any adjustments so that you can feel really comfortable.

Letting go of any tension in your jaw,

Releasing any gripping in your hands and letting your belly be soft and relaxed.

You can have your eyes open or closed,

Whichever feels right for you.

And just pausing here,

Just enjoying some time where you don't need to do anything at all.

This time is just for you to look after your wellbeing.

You might notice the weight of your body,

The pull of gravity as the body slowly begins to soften and release down into the surface beneath you.

Sensations of touch,

Contact or pressure where your body meets the ground.

The back of the head,

The backs of the shoulders,

The buttocks,

The backs of the legs,

The heels.

There's that comforting feeling of the back of your body being fully supported.

And as your body begins to settle into this lying down position,

Perhaps noticing that the body is already beginning to relax.

The arms and the hands are beginning to relax.

The arms and hands sinking down into the ground.

There's nothing that you need to do to make it happen,

No effort required.

The body already knows how to relax.

And the legs and the feet are just beginning to soften and relax.

The legs and the feet melting down into the surface beneath you.

So the whole body is slowly beginning to soften and relax,

Melting downwards.

Every part of you gradually letting go,

Sinking and relaxing.

The head is becoming heavier.

The whole face beginning to relax.

And all of the muscles around the jaw are slowly beginning to soften and open up.

The mouth and the jaw becoming loose and slack.

And the muscles down the sides of the neck are beginning to lengthen and open up.

As the whole of the neck begins to soften and relax.

And the shoulders are dropping down away from the ears,

Releasing back down towards the earth.

The muscles in the tops of the shoulders releasing their hold and becoming supple and relaxed.

And the upper back sinking down into the surface beneath you.

The muscles in the upper back softening and letting go.

And all the muscles in the chest,

The pecs and the intercostal muscles between the ribs beginning to open up and release.

The whole of the chest is just beginning to soften and relax.

And the belly is relaxing,

Becoming softer and rounder.

All the muscles in the belly beginning to soften and release.

And the muscles cradling your lower back are releasing their grip,

Gently easing towards the ground.

So the whole of the upper body is releasing and relaxing.

The whole of the upper body softening and melting towards the ground.

And relaxation and calm slowly spreading through the body.

The muscles in your pelvic region,

Your buttocks and even the pelvic floor are all surrendering,

Softening into the floor's embrace.

The whole of the pelvis is beginning to soften and relax.

And the upper legs slowly beginning to release,

Softening down into the floor.

As you let go of any gripping in the quads and the hamstrings,

The upper legs softening and relaxing.

And the muscles around the knees beginning to release and let go,

As the knees begin to soften and relax.

And your calf muscles too are releasing their hold,

Allowing your lower legs to fully relax.

The ankles and the feet grounding even more,

As each toe starts to uncurl and relax.

So the lower body is just continuing on its journey of releasing and relaxing.

The lower body softening and melting into the ground.

Relaxation spreading through the body as it sinks deeper and deeper into relaxation.

A whole body releasing and softening.

A whole body heavy,

Warm and relaxed.

And just enjoying any feelings of calm or relaxation that might be here.

Absorbing any feelings of well-being and taking in the good.

Allowing yourself to soak up this feeling for as long as you need.

Knowing that this state of relaxation is a gift that you can return to whenever you need.

A sanctuary within you.

And then when you feel ready,

Just beginning to deepen your awareness of the room around you.

Beginning to notice sounds from near and far.

The air temperature in the room.

The support of the surface beneath you.

Beginning to feel into your fingers and toes.

Gently beginning to bring some movement into them.

Just taking all the time that you need.

And then when you're ready,

Just beginning to gently stretch into the body.

Moving in whatever way feels most satisfying for you.

Perhaps gently blinking the eyes open if they're still closed.

And just gently having a look around the room.

Reconnecting with your surroundings.

And just bringing some of that calm that you've been cultivating into your life.

And if you've enjoyed this guided meditation,

Perhaps setting an intention to come back to it the next time you feel the need for some restorative time.

But for now,

Thank you so much for relaxing with me today.

And I wish you all the best.

Thank you.

Always a great meditation with Neil - one of the first teachers I discovered on IT 9 years ago. This one was very relaxing and just what I needed today. In fact, I fell asleep for a short time and that was exactly what I needed, too. Thanks, Neil 🙏♥️

I really enjoyed this meditation, but for me it is almost too short. 20 Minutes would be perfect!
